Genuinely gutted about lee Collins leaving. A ball playing centre half with some pace. Cresswell and diamond head everything but turn like zeppelins. All the best lee!

What happened to Meppen-Walter?
Don't know really, Curle described him as 'his project' at one point... I think that project was to convert him into a defensive midfielder... seemed to be working initially and apparently he's Curle's daughter's favourite player. Then he got injured, and didn't get back into the side when he returned. Curle did express concerns about his fitness and lifestyle earlier on in the season, and looked a little slow, but he's young and talented so thought those issues were relatively minor and could be worked on.

Nobody really knows. He was playing in centre mid for a while and did well there, hasn't played since a minor injury a few months ago. Think his attitude must be a bit off because the talent's definitely there, maybe he needs transfer listing to show him he's not guaranteed a squad just because he was Man City youth team captain at 18.

***This isn't official - just my thoughts.*** Just been looking through our squad - we've already said that we're going to be streamlining our squad to an extent, but its worth remembering that its been bulked up by youth teamers and first year pros - so it looks bigger than it actually is.

Fancy this to be our new squad:
1. Mark Tyler (GK)
2. New Right Back (Michael Harriman)
4. Jonathan Smith (CM)
5. Steve McNulty (CB)
6. New Centre Back (???)
7. Alex Lawless (CM)
8. Nathan Doyle (CM)
9. Paul Benson (CF)
10. New Centre Forward (Elliot Lee)
11. Jake Howells (LM)
12. Scott Griffiths (LB)
13. Mark Cullen (CF)
16. Elliot Justham (GK)
17. Pelly Ruddock-Mpanzu (CM)
18. New Right Winger (???)
19. New Centre Forward (???)
21. Luke Guttridge (CM)
23. Mark Onyemah (LB)
25. New Centre Midfielder (Cameron McGeehan)
29. Lee Angol (CF)
30. Luke Wilkinson (CB)
32. Luke Trottman (RB)
33. Ian Rees (CM)
34. Zane Banton (CF)
35. Craig King (GK)
36. Isaac Galliford (CF)

Transfer Listed
Andy Drury, Ricky Miller, Matt Robinson, Curtley Williams, Ryan Hall, Ross Lafayette, Alex Lacey, Charlie Walker

Expired Contracts
Fraser Franks, Danny Fitzsimons, Alex Wall, Andy Parry, Shaun Whalley, Jim Stevenson, Brett Longden, Kynan Isaac, Charlie Smith

Some might argue that it isn't enough change, but to be honest I don't think we're that far off. Would that squad win League 2? As for players coming in, other than the loanees that I'd resign above, I'd like us to go for Alfie Mawson and/or Courtney Meppen-Walker and Fred Onyedinma to fill those holes.

And England under 20 captain.

The lad has talent, but he's a centre back not a midfielder. It was a big mistake of Curle changing his position. If he got a consistent run of games beside an experienced centre back and worked on his positioning and concentration, he could develop into a player who could play at a higher level I think.

I'm reading some of these names and frankly I had seriously underestimated how chuffing wank this division was.
That's what I thought last season...

Lacey isn't out of contract, he's got another year to run as does Walker apparently.

Surprised that your desired squad list includes zero new wingers, for me that's our absolute priority to strengthen. We need a first team starter quality winger/wide forward for both left and right flanks IMHO.

Won't see many of ours going. Sammy Moore, our only non-league player left will probably be off.

Oh and just so you know, Liam Noble is due to turn shit for you some time soon. Replace him now and save yourselves the hassle.

It does seem every season = Wilder does make an "interesting" call. Last season it was not keeping McSweeney - at first this looked a monumental cock up when we got Alfei.

and what we got was you. I'm sorry after his performances....

Saying that we now have the excellent Moloney and McSweeney has vanished!

If you want a ball playing defender, Troy Archibald-Henville is that, and he's big and strong.

However you'll need to pay him £3k a week, and he'll probably miss at least a third of a season through injury.

Great player for this level though.

Not a chance you'll get Mawson or Onyedinma next season. The latter will be first team regular in league one for them next season and Mawson will go to a league one club or be a squad player for Brentford

Nah, he's great thanks (when he's not suspended, which is a lot).

Would happily take Fraser Franks as a replacement for Saville/competition for N'Gala's place. Good player.

Universally liked by our fans and rated by all aswell. Dosnt just hoof it and covers the ground well. See him going to a team pushing the top of this league or league 1. He only came down to this level after some off the field issues. Had a tag during his first few months with us, out of character though apparently.

Mawson's good, but he's not getting anywhere near Brentford's squad. Agreed he won't come here though. Even if he had no League One offers (which I'm sure he will), when he came here on loan last season he spent the whole time on the bench so I doubt he has fond memories.

Has he done anything more than play the odd good pass and run around a lot for you? I'll be glad if he has because I liked him when he was here but the consensus among fans was that he was a pretty shit player who'd struggle in League 1 again when he left.

Under Contract:

Gary Woods (GK)
Adam Legzdins (GK)
Charlie Grainger (GK)
Nathan Clarke (DF)
Mathieu Baudry (DF)
Shane Lowry (DF)
Bradley Pricthard (MF)
Romain Vincelot (MF)
Lloyd James (MF)
Jobi McAnuff (WG)
Dean Cox (WG) - Will be sold for £300-500k if the right offer comes in.
Scott Kashket (ST)
Darius Henderson (ST)
Jay Simpson (ST)

Out of Contract:
Elliott Omozusi (DF) - Will go to League One Club.
Gary Sawyer (DF) - 50/50 on him, will sign new deal if offered one I think.
Scott Cuthbert (DF) - Will go to another League One Club.
Andis Nikolaou (DF) - Released. Will end up in National League South.
Andrea Dossena (DF) - A c*** of a man who was useless for us. Will be released and hopefully never seen again.
Harry Lee (MF) - Released. Will end up in National League South.
Josh Wright (MF) - I'd get rid of him, far too inconsistent. But will be offered a deal I think.
Marvin Bartley (MF) - I'd keep him, but he will sign for another League One club.
Kevin Lisbie (ST) - Released. Will end up somewhere in London/Essex.
David Mooney (ST) - Will leave and sign for League One Club.
Shaun Batt (ST) - Released. Has his uses but injury prone and rarely fit, good impact sub. Will go to League One/Two Club.
Chris Dagnall (ST) - Have to keep him as we won't get much better, but he will get plenty of League One offers.
Gianvito Plasmati (ST) - A shit & crocked Serie A reject. Will be binned off.

I'd only Keep Cuthbert, Dagnall and Bartley if I am honest. But they will all end up in League One again with new clubs, we're run like a circus now. We may keep Dagnall if we offer him 2-3 years and pay him well.

I'd take several of those at ours - Dagnall, Mooney, Omozuzi and Cox (we have the capability to spend a bit now!) would be good signings for us I reckon, and cover gaps in our squad. Bit worrying that so many of a relegated team look like interesting signings....

Collins is from Wolverhampton isn't he?

I'd take him as a squad player over the shaky Guthrie and Stewart who doesn't seem to get a look in, adds experience, did alright for the Vale and was only let go when they were in admin.

He's been good, albeit those two things (plus his shooting) are his best attributes. If he can stop getting sent off he should be a mainstay for us next season, although there is a question mark over fitting both him and Curtis Thompson, who is probably better, into the same midfield.

I did mention to one of you that Sweeney wasn't your wisest of signings, now your trying to get shot. No one will come in for him so now he's just a coSt to consider what with FFP ....

Yeah, it was weird reading your (Carlisle fans) comments and then actually watching him play. Every Carlisle fan made it sound like he was your typical try-hard type who wasn't great technically but got stuck in, had #pashun and then occasionally did something good. For us though he's been fairly good at everything. He gets about the pitch well, supports attacks, his passing is generally very good, he's chipped in with goals and I'm surprised he hasn't scored more as well because he looks dangerous whenever he gets the ball in and around the area. After Carroll I'd have him player of the season easily. Assuming we keep him, I'd assume he'll be absolutely fantastic at this level because there wasn't anything wrong with him in League 1 (one of the few you can say that about).

Mawson, as above, won't get into Brentford's team. Don't underestimate the pulling power of John Still. And we could outbid a number of teams in the division above.

Yeah he is, definitely think he could do a job at a league 1 team. Has done previously.
