Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Well I for one am glad our CMW hope failed miserably and has frankly cost the club a lot of needless wasted cash..............club got what it deserved. In a way its a shame my dad slipped a dics as I'd not gone back during the time he was here, but in end it was only half a match.

and it worked out good for me, saved about £800 plus, didn't watch 2 years of utterly atrocious crap and come back next season with abit more passion for the club than the apathy filled nothing I had when I decided to quit.....although I suppose I did lose out on half my ST paid, but cannot ask for everything.

As for the releases, not too surprised, been obvious since December that Curle wants to spend nearly the entire budget and doesn't want any really here on currently good money. I have no complaints on that side of things and none can say they deserve to stay, but it is a worry that if they don't go Curle has to treat them better and not cause another split in camp

Sean Newton hasn't been offered a deal after his loan move, which is fantastic because he is fucking shite. Rumour is that Luton and Mansfield want him though :brill:

We were rumoured to be after him before but it turned out to be bollocks then. We've got our first choice left back in place, so if he did sign it would be as a back-up.

Mawson's good, but he's not getting anywhere near Brentford's squad. Agreed he won't come here though. Even if he had no League One offers (which I'm sure he will), when he came here on loan last season he spent the whole time on the bench so I doubt he has fond memories.

If Mawson goes out on loan again don't be surprised to see him back at Wycombe next season especially if we win the play offs, he has said he loves the club and appreciates Ainsworth for giving him his Football League debut on the first day of the season so i'd be surprised if he joins another league 2 club.

Apperently we've cleared the lot out (Excluding youth) except for Bingham, Lambe and Sutton.

Taff been offered a new deal. McGuire, Blair and Marsden I have no idea about.

I did mention to one of you that Sweeney wasn't your wisest of signings, now your trying to get shot. No one will come in for him so now he's just a coSt to consider what with FFP ....
Curle is looking to clear out pretty much all the senior squad he inherited. If someone wants to buy a player Curle didn't bring to the club so that he can go and bring more of his own players in then with the exceptions of Grainger, Rigg and Hanford (all of whom Kav signed on one-year contracts but Curle offered extensions early on in his reign) he'll do so... but I don't think it's necessarily a problem if we don't find buyers for them all. Sweeney has proved a useful player this season. The question is more one of how Curle man-manages the fact he's bound to have some of those players in his squad all season long, and may require their services at some point.

Yeah, it was weird reading your (Carlisle fans) comments and then actually watching him play. Every Carlisle fan made it sound like he was your typical try-hard type who wasn't great technically but got stuck in, had #pashun and then occasionally did something good. For us though he's been fairly good at everything. He gets about the pitch well, supports attacks, his passing is generally very good, he's chipped in with goals and I'm surprised he hasn't scored more as well because he looks dangerous whenever he gets the ball in and around the area. After Carroll I'd have him player of the season easily. Assuming we keep him, I'd assume he'll be absolutely fantastic at this level because there wasn't anything wrong with him in League 1 (one of the few you can say that about).
Quite liked Noble, I think he didn't get much of a look-in for us towards the end of last season to really judge him on; with Kav preferring to pick players who couldn't be arsed over him. I think maybe he's not a player you can expect any kind of tactical intelligence from, he'll just do his own thing, which is pretty good but requires other players good enough to cover the gaps he leaves. Some managers like that for his workrate and quality, some consider that the biggest sin a player can commit. I saw him as kind of Jack Wilshere style player. I reckon he'd be awesome in a promotion chasing team (in fact he was pretty good when we were chasing promotion).

Also he called Sunderland a shit club with shit fans... which is always a treat.

This is our record with and without him too, which speaks volumes.

Noble
With - W14, D7, L13 - 41% win rate
Without - W1, D8, L10 - 5% win rate.

Seems about right but I would be suprised if a deal was not on the table for Clements as well he would seem to fit in the system Murray will want to operate next season

I think he will be offered one. It's going to have to be an improvement on his current one though or he's off anyway.

Paul Corry and Matt Young both released by Sheff Wed today, we had them on loan and they were both below average.

Gary Madine also released by the Owls, someone in League 1 or 2 will sign him I'd imagine.

Edit to add:
Febian Brandy released by Rochdale, always looked a good player when I've seen him. Don't think he'd drop to League 2 though

At least that should not be us to give him his 40th second chance.

Madine won't drop to league 2, he's easily a top 6 league 1 player. He won't be short of offers.

Some decent players released by Wednesday today. Madine is an idiot but he will score goals so someone will end up picking him up. Hopefully not us (not likely he'd come down to League 2 anyway).

I think the assumption is that Wilcox will be raiding the Scunny remainders bin as they've released piles of players.

Has the released/transfer lists given you a bit more optimism re Curle, BigDaveCUFC ? You said a couple of weeks back that you were worried that the upturn in form would result in us keeping some of the crap.

He's pretty much going to start again with the defence and the midfield which is what.

CMW is pretty much the only one I think may come back to bite us. There's potentially an absolute gem of a player in there given the right coaching and guidance. But again can't really argue as he's not been in the team recently.

Sweeney had actually been on the transfer list since November, but no one wanted to take him. I think one club enquired about a loan but Sweeney wasn't interested.

Strangely enough (or not depending how you look at it) his best performances have come since he was transfer listed. He knuckled down and forced his way into the team before getting injured.

I think Curle likes his attitude and professionalism but just wants to get better quality in if possible. I think there'll be no problem with him if he doesn't get a move and Curle will still consider him for selection because he knows he'll always give 100%.

If Madine does drop to this league I predict wherever he goes will win the title next season. He was a class above even in his loan to us at the end of our League 1 tenure. He could probably push to joining one of the teams promoted to the Championship, but more likely will join a top half League 1 side. If not for his record he would be a good Championship player by now.

Can't get over the fact we've offered Ollie Palmer something. Can understand why Brown has been offered one although that will probably upset a few. Still with Rhead and Palmer both getting offered something I don't think we are likely to have a much improved budget.

Suprised about Ollie but I assume you that's to get a fee if someone else offers him a contract. I'm so bloody happy about Riley pissing off.

I can't see anyone paying a fee for Palmer though!

Pleased Riley and Raynes have both gone. Bloody awful the pair of them. Ravenhill came in and offered some expierence and that was all it was ever going to be. Studer, He maybe young and learning but he is not good enough and made his mind up in Febuary whether he wanted to be here or not. Not the kind of fight we needed, So I am glad he has gone. Beevers, Been a good servant but too old now. Wish him well. Heslop has looked average everytime he has played and Fisher has barely had a chance.

Lambe, I'm glad he has been retained. Also Taff, But I can see someone coming in for him but at least we will get a fee. Can see why Rhead has been offered a deal. He offers something different from the bench and I hope that's all it is. Same with McGuire, Good player to have as back up.

Any idea what subject to fitness means? Does that mean we will invite them back for Pre Season to prove their fitness? Jones was still on crutches last week so can't see him being fit for then!

I think it's a pretty poor core of a squad, Murray not been harsh enough.

Another long season in the making unless we do some good business this summer.

Palmer is the big suprise felt certain he was going but I thought he was decent for Grimsby in the playoffs.

I can't see any of the released players finding league clubs but will probably do decent jobs within the Conf

Roy Carroll signs a new deal, that's a surprise. Best goalkeeper and biggest twatbasket in the division assured.

Astounded he's stayed. He'll be the best keeper in League 2 no question, he was arguably the best in League 1 anyway.

Can't say I'm thrilled about watching his antics for another season though. I'm a fan of players who are a bit mental but he takes it to a level whereby even I'm yelling 'oi you twat' from the stands after him about 30 seconds after he's made a wonder-save.

Having said that, I don't think it really means a lot. When it comes to goalkeepers, meh - we always seem to have a good one anyway.

Question, should I put our retained list on here or the league 1 forum, that's genuine and not taking the Michael.

YES SEAN NEWTON!

I think Tranmere will have a sniff at him. His neck of the woods and Brabin will know about him.

I think Beevers will end up here.
