I was really impressed with tom Elliott at Sixfields, he game cresswell a torrid time in the air which is no small task. We are looking for a big man so could fit the bill. Why was he released?

Lot of injuries over 2 seasons and 8 goals in 30 (+ 4 sub) matches this season. Great (L2 or better) on his day. Possibly one of our higher paid players and Richard thinks we can do better with the money.

Hopefully we offer Arnold a permanent deal, what happened to Miller, is he still injured?
Injured again. As often happens after a major long term injury another area compensates and goes. He was on crutches again on Saturday. Best of luck to Nathan, he can be an exciting player.

Not a chance in the world Arnold will cut it at L2.

I really thought Craddock would go on to have a good career when he first signed for us, seemed to have Championship-ish potential in that -30 points season. Injuries have really ruined him, did he ever even kick a ball for you lot?

When we signed him almost 2 years ago he was one of the favourites for top scorer in league 2. Then he got injured, followed by another injury and another etc. I'm not sure if he even played 5 games for us in 2 seasons, scored one goal a header vs Scunthorpe. Feel bad for the lad but at the same time we've given him 2 years of wages for 1 goal.

Also saw some posts about Dumbaya, we desperately need a RB but I wouldn't have him back, we only had him in league 1 but he was way out of his depth for me, couldn't defend at all, had a horror show against Walsall on the telly aswell. Take away his pace and I'd say he's Conference North/South.

Barely-above-average Conference full back for me, I was amazed when Cambridge handed him a new deal recently.

I think it's safe to say he was our weakest link this year. Praying that someone will take him off our hands.

I'm really pleased the club has been so pro active with this and released so many players/made so many players available for transfer. I'm upset with the decisions on Josh Coulson and Robbie Simpson as I think both are good players who could still give alot for us and I'm also a bit disappointed Chris Dunn has been retained as I feel he's been at fault for a number of goals this season, particularly when our shite period began after Man Utd.

I wrote this list of players I'd have retained a few weeks ago:

Coulson - released
Dunk - retained
Donaldson - retained
Simpson - released
Chadwick - released but possibly a new coaching role may be available for him
Morrissey - retained
Gaffney - retained
Hughes - retained
Chiedozie - retained
Slew - released
BJT - retained
Hurst - released (but I'm not massively upset)
Norris - retained

And this was my release list:

Dunn - retained
Tait - released
Taylor - released
Miller - released
Nelson - released
Champion - released
Hunt - released
Elliott - released
Bird - released
Lanzoni - released
Arnold - released

So it's not a mile away from what I wanted though it is more drastic than I'd have gone. Frankly our defence has been a farce this season so big changes had to be made there and up front we can't rely on an Elliott-led forward line as he is injured far too much. We had alot of Conference players who (rightly) had to be given a chance in the league to prove how good they were. But I remember a York fan saying at the beginning of the season that in order to keep moving forward, you need to not be too sentimental towards players who have been successful for you in the past. We gave our promotion team a chance, it didn't work. Lets kick on.

Oh and Grey Taylor has been dreadful for us this year. Ian Miller's injury finished him off. Arnold wouldn't want to play for us anyway and I'm not convinced he's league-class anyway.

There seems to be a lot of good players being released or out of contract at League One level this season from the retained lists so far. You could build a really strong squad on freebies this summer if you could tempt a few to drop down a level.

Alex Wall has just confirmed he's left the club on Twitter. There's a half decent Conference striker in there for someone willing to take a punt. I'd be surprised if he ever made it higher than that level though.

Morecambe have released a fair chunk of experience from their side, including the captain which I'm a bit surprised at. Amond is also a decent striker for this level who someone will surely take a punt on, probably Accrington again . If your side does announce their released players list, please post it here, I'm trying to compile lists for a season preview by actually doing it as I go along this year rather than all in August so that would be a great help :D

Fletch will surely end up somewhere decent, I can't help think that will come back to bite us. Other than that not much in the way of surprises there.

Couple of games a season he's unplayable, just ask Tranmere when they came here. The rest he's just a miserable passenger really, real waste of talent but I'm surprised we let him go.

I think Notts went fucking mental again. We've offered chuffing Gary Jones and Gary Thomson a deal. What the literal fuck argh learn your lessons!!!!!!

Alan Smith was on a two year deal so I hope he was signed on reduced terms. Otherwise we have truely lost the plot. Half our tearm should have retired but we keep giving them deals.

Signed Deals: Roy Carroll, Alan Smith

Offered New Deals: Jordan Richards, Lartey Sarpong

Negotiating: Garry Thompson, Gary Jones, Balint Bajner

Still In Talks With: Kevin Pilkington, Mike Edwards

I'm absolutely speechless. It's simply incredible that. Edwards is about as mobile as a fucking corpse, Alan Smith is without question the worst player I've seen in my entire life - the c*** needs to preserve any dignity he has by retiring - he can't run, can't pass, can't shoot, can't tackle. Garry Thompson and Gary Jones can fuck off too the old c***. Bajner is not terrible but I certainly wouldn't keep him either.

In short, our club deserves to get relegated again. I'm truly fucking astounded.

No chance of me renewing my season ticket now. No fucking chance.

I've wondered for a while who is signing the players and now we have this transfer panel. I'm really worried when I look at that list. Smith wont be cheap. Neither will Bajner imo. The guy tries hard and is not that bad, but he's not what we need. Jimmy Spencer and someone with some pace would be nice enough.

I just don't know how a football club can repeatedly make the same mistake again, and again, and again when its so painfully obvious that these players contributed in large to our relegation because they should be feckin' retired.

I think they'll be cheap, someone like Smith in particular, that's not really the issue though. They're not needed at all - they're fucking shite.

I don't really know what to say.

Personally quite like Bajner and have no issue with him staying (we'll probably still sign another striker cos Daniels is off), but otherwise...

How many players have Notts County released? If your offering new deals to the old folk and I believe you have quite a few under contract then surely there is not going to be a lot of room for new signings.

The idea seems to be that Pilks and Edwards will be coaches, hence why the terminology is different. So we'll have kept Smith, Bajner, Jones and Thompson. We'll still have room for new signings because most if not all of our current lot have relegation clauses in their contracts in terms of wages.

But still, they're all old useless fucks. I'm just baffled we've kept them. It's unbelievable. I thought it was a wind-up at first.

Only real positive is of the ones under contract, not many need offloading. I imagine Nicky Wroe will fuck off and Daniels seems to just be completely of no interest to Moniz - but apart from that, the rest are all worth keeping hold of, especially at this level.

We've been linked with Wroe before, what's he like?

He's been ok on the rare occasion he's actually played but that's it...just a bit of a nothing player that doesn't do badly but doesn't really seem to make an impact either.

Pretty pleased Wall has gone to be honest, at least will stop the guy who sits near me banging on about "giving Alex Wall a go".

No, he's shit.
