Time for us to join the party - we’ve released Cheye Alexander, Jim Kellerman, James Rowe, Josh McQuoid, Bobby Joe Taylor and Tim Schmoll.

I thought Taylor was Aldershot’s stand out player when we played at the Rec at the beginning of last month.

Are any of the others left wingers?

Harry Pritchard – our top scorer last season and Players’ Player and Supporters’ Player of the Year – is rumoured to be interesting the Shots. “I haven’t had any offers,” was his (rather odd) stock response to questions about his future after the final game of the season.

Taylor seemed a decent player early on in the season then injured himself getting out of the car or something similarly stupid then looked too lightweight to compete in this league. McQuoid can play left too and he's absolutely dire.

Would like Harry Pritchard though, heard similar rumours for the past month or so.

Some big surprises on our list:

Players Under Contract Retained:
Steve Arnold
Joel Dixon
Grant Holt

Players Offered A New Deal:
Moussa Diarra
Nathan Waterston
Donovan Makoma

Players Under Contract Made Available For Transfer:
Asa Hall
Dan Jones
Jordan White
Bedsente Gomis
Jack Barthram

Players Released:
Harry Panayiotou
Thierry Audel
David Fitzpatrick
Bradley Bauress
Tony Diagne
Byron Harrison

So Holt is most likely to just be a coach next season, and I'd say Diarra might turn us down - that could be down to four players, including two keepers!

Asa Hall has played well of late but is a big earner, Dan Jones is probably our star player, and Bedsente Gomis just got player of the year - on the face of it, this is a big cost-cutting exercise.

Not arsed about any of the released players, or Jordan White and Jack Barthram being put up for sale.
Audel should find another Club at this level, unlike Diagne who I can see ending up at a NLS side or back in France.

Surprised by Harrison and White. I thought the former was one of your main players (top scorer last season?) and White was rated by Wrexham fans, assuming it's the same one.

I could see Dan Jones name coming up on Hignett's shortlist. He'd give Blair Adams a bit of competition at left back and can also cover at centre half. He was mostly decent for us in his first spell here and was a little unlucky to get moved on.

Yeah, Jones is a good player - played left-midfield and centre-midfield a lot in the second-half of the season. Impressed enough to get into the England C team, but I think he maybe got on the wrong side of the manager a couple of times.

Audel was injured most the season, and didn't look up to this level. Diagne was just a stop-gap that ended up playing more games than he should have.

Harrison effectively left in January, on loan at Sutton as he didn't want to be here. Plus he was poor this season.
White is shite.

Scabbed a couple of shinners early in the season, but was mostly dreadful - can't finish, and for a big guy, can hardly head it either. Plus his dad was a moany fucker on our forum!

Turns out we have about 15 of these absolute shit houses under contract next season. So with our budget being halved that is probably all of our budget gone, unless we can get some of these cowards off the books we will be starting with what we finished with next season

Oh and some c*** at the club allowed Robbie Weir to have a clause in his contract that triggers a 2nd year with us. The man is a shithouse and the worst captain this club has ever had.

Weir was relegated with us last season - However he missed the whole second half of our season due to a nasty ACL injury he picked up away at Exeter in a 4-0 loss in January.

However he was awful for us and he was our captain as well. He would regularly give the ball away, get caught out of position and commit stupid fouls.

We all thought it was partly due to our awful owners and that he simply gave up caring. Sounds like it may go a bit beyond that if he's been as poor for you as he was with us.

Awful mate. One of a good 15 I’d happily never see pull on the town shirt again. Bad thing is we are stuck with most of them as some tosser signed em all on 2 year deals on daft wages

It sounds a nasty thing to say, but when he picked that ACL injury up it was near the away terrace at Exeter (which is now rubble) and as he was stretched off none of our fans clapped him, there was more a tirade of abuse aimed at him from certain people about him never playing for us again - Which was what happened.

But that shows how bad he was for us, alot of our fans grew to hate him. It was a bit unfair as it wasn't all his fault. But as our captain and leader he was truly useless.

Genuine lol at this news. At you, not with you, obviously.

A little surprised Akinde's been transfer listed. Doesn't sound like he's pushed for it to happen and not many club's decide to transfer list a proven striker in the league they're going to be in.

If I was John, I'd be staying for the first part of the season. After a season blighted by injury, and a dip in form, there will be questions asked if he doesn't hit the ground running at a new club.

Stay here, bang in a few goals in the first half of the season, play himself back into form and his stock will be back high again, so everybody wins.

That's what I said on our forum when people noticed he was transfer listed.

Or even have another good season in the NL and leave next summer on a free. He'd get a cracking deal as a freebie.

You likely to be asking for much for him, or is it more a case of needing him off the wage bill and balance the books a bit?

I think the idea of seeing out his contract is again one that should appeal to both parties. 18 months ago, he was worth every penny of a million pound deal. We clearly won't see anything like that coming off the back of last season, and the time left on his current deal.

It is more of a risk now for a buying club as there is a question mark over whether the injury he suffered has taken something away from his power game. Personally, I think a rest and then a proper preseason will see him back to how he was, but there's no guarantees.

I'm inclined to think this is more to test the waters rather than a book balancing exercise given our stable financial footing. And of course, we might have an agreement in place with him that we'd let him go this summer after the service he has given us, which I'd have no issue with either.

Like I said, not really sad to lose pretty much anyone.

Related: we've let Nicky Southall go as assistant manager. I'm quite pleased about this, get in someone who knows what they're doing to help Jay out.

Was Koby Arthur any good?
He never played so can't really comment. Obviously he wasn't at the same level as our regular players but that's not to say he couldn't do a job for someone next season.

Basically all the players we have released were ones that never even got a look in in the Conference, let alone league 2. Except for Jalal who despite his errors is ok for this level but isn't good enough to play in division above.

We've released

Sam Hird
Drew Talbot
Ian Evatt (who was interim manager)

Over 500 games between them, were there when we were good and were part of our demise. All on decent money so not too disapointed to see them go as i'd not keep any of our current players.

What is more alarming is that we have done this even though we don't have a manager so someone else is clearly making the calls and also it was allegedly done via Text Message according to Talbots missus on Twitter. Over 500 games between them for us, and we treat 3 club legends like this.

Really does sum us up, it's one thing after another with us

Could not make it up! I expected all 3 to leave due to their wages and the new man probably wanting as much of a clean slate as possible... but to tell them by text? Ashley Carson disgusts me.

Turns out we didn’t tell them by text, one of their mates text them to tell they’d seen it on twitter

Making a mockery of 3 club legends. Almost 800 appearances between em

Didn't offer anything in the games he played. Could see him stand out in NLN like Gnahoua did for you maybe.

I miss Gnahoua was a great player for us.

But cheers for the info Macc fans. Always keep an eye out for players that are or origianally local who have been released. Wouldn't be surprised to see him on trial here in the summer.
