I'm no fan of Robinson given his history but I really feel sorry for him and more so for the Charlton supporters. We don't have a pot to piss in but being supporter owned means that we control our own destiny to a certain extent.

Why are they shooting themselves in the foot and when have they done previously?

The protests have been simply brilliant, every one of them. They contributed to the national media picking up on our grievances and fans and other football people got to hear about it that otherwise wouldn't have. It resulted in Brighton fans joining one protest and a joint protest with Coventry which gained their plight more coverage too.

Most importantly, they worked. They rattled Katrien and Roland who thought we would just lay down and accept the ongoings like good little customers. 2 years on and Roland has had enough and wants out. The protests have been sensational quite frankly and so have their results.

I must admit, I'm not sure what people are expecting to achieve on Saturday. I can't imagine that Richard Murray is going to come out in a freezing cold car park to answer questions especially when the answers he has probably aren't the ones the fans want. It does seem a bit futile.

However, now is a great time for a show of unity and the directors should be expected to speak out and clear up any rumours. The future of the club we love is in limbo and Karl Robinson should not be expected to be constantly bombarded with difficult questions that he either simply doesn't have the answers to or are well out of his remit to answer. It's actually quite scandalous how he's been left to handle all this on his own with no protection or back-up from his employers. He's been brilliant, I must say.

This all stems from them being inpatient bastards who think a statement this week means now. Still 3 days to go in the week ffs.

I think the concern is that the quote from Murray yesterday after Holmes' departure is being considered as 'the statement'.

I'm sure if we see a full statement with some actual substance to it between now and Saturday a lot less people will bother going down there.

As I said above ^^^

So they threaten to protest to get answers from Richard Murray and then Murray sets up a fan meeting.

Really 'shooting themselves in the foot' there.

Excuse my naivety, but what exactly are Charlton fans protesting for again?

Granted they are probably a league below where they should be but fans weren't protesting last time you were in League One in 2010-12?

Katrien Miere has left the club and you're doing pretty well on the pitch??

Rather be in your position than ours. Which says more about our fans who have yet to take any form of action.

Come on mate, we've had this conversation before on this very thread.

I've even answered the same questions from you on page 5.

This is nothing to do with league positions but about an owner who has come in,
asset stripped, declared war with fans and ripped a club apart from the inside.

Yes we're currently 6th. I've already said that is only down to Robinson pulling miracles from his arse.

Asset stripped? Sold one player for £400K ffs. Still in a playoff position so how does that mean our season has been wrecked by the sale?

Didn't you get £8m+ for Lookman? Don't think Billy Clarke cost that somehow.

1. There is no-way that the losses on season ticket sales outweigh the sales of the likes of Joe Gomez, Gudmundsson, Cousins, Pope, Henderson. 16 players have left the club this summer, 16 sets of wages gone. The fact we couldn't offer Lewis Buxton a couple of grand a month is bollocks. Not forgetting the fact our illustrious CEO claimed we have a 'top six budget'.

With the window now shut I thought it would be a good time to revisit this.

Outs:

Ademola Lookman - £7.5m (rising to £11m)
Morgan Fox - £700k
Nicky Ajose - Loan
Kevin Foley - Released

Total: £8.2 million (up front)

Ins:

Jake Forster-Caskey - Undisclosed
Lewis Page - Undisclosed
Stephy Mavididi - Loan
Jay Dasilva - Loan
Nathan Byrne - Loan

Total: Obviously can't say for sure but JFC was coming to the end of his contract at Brighton and Page a 21 year old from West Ham. I'd be surprised if the two cost us any more than £1m.

Let's be generous and say combined they cost £1.2m. I make that £7m in Roland's pocket, add that to the rough figure of £4.5m that was made and not reinvested in the squad in the summer (already mentioned in the thread) that's £11.5m, not bad for old Roland eh?

Didn't you get £8m+ for Lookman? Don't think Billy Clarke cost that somehow.

I might be off with some of these figures as they obviously go back a couple of years now.

Sales since Roland:

Gomez -2.5m (cost Charlton £0)
Gudmundsson - 2.5m (Cost Charlton £1.5m)
Pope -2m (Cost Charlton £0)
Cousins - 1.5m (Cost Charlton £0)
Lookman 8+m (probably received further payments now he's played in Europa League etc) (Cost Charlton £0)
Fox - 700k (Cost Charlton £0)
Holmes - 400k (Cost Charlton £750k)

This doesn't even include the likes of Kermorgant, Stephens, Henderson, Holmes-Dennis which must at least total around 2million.

Ezri Konsa (Cost Charlton £0) is being strongly linked with a 4m move to Everton this window too.

So let's assume that come the end of January, through player sales Roland has acquired roughly £23.7million.

Now let's have a look at players Roland has paid ACTUAL FEES (not including the ones above that have since been sold) for:

Vetokele - 2.5m (loaned out the previous 3 seasons so as not to pay his wages)
Nicky Ajose - 800k (loaned out last season and half so not paying full wages)
Jake Forster-Caskey - Undisclosed
Lewis Page - Undisclosed
Tariqe Fosu - Undisclosed
Billy Clarke - 100k

I'll say JFC, Page and Fosu combined is around 1.8mil as I would be astounded if they cost anymore than that. I'm probably being generous if anything.

So roughly incomings have cost Roland £5.2million, a difference of £18.5million.

Let's not forget the 16 players that were released last summer, mentioned in one of my posts above plus the likes of Novak this summer.

By the way, this money isn't from Roland's pocket. This is from loans from his other companies which include interest. Hence the inflated price he is attempting to sell the club for. He bought the club for £15mil and is looking very likely to sell for quite a bit more despite most assets gone and the team a division lower.

Do you not see, Lamby that this man has been asset stripping from the very start?

Please don't start on the training ground nonsense. We were supposed to be having a brand new complex built but in reality we've just got some new pitches, the same old buildings.

This old prick is going to walk away from this club with a shitload of cash whilst we're left with a half finished training ground. Roland's legacy.

I feel like we're the convicted Hatton Garden raiders, having all our hard work hijacked whilst Roland is Basil - walking off into the sunset with all the valuables and unscathed while we're left behind with nothing but a long sentence to think about how it all went so wrong.

You've literally just helped my argument then, even more profit for Roland.

Apparently we are close.

A price has been agreed.

Unfortunately, it looks like we’re going to have to wait for any announcements which is shame because that would be some party up at Doncaster tomorrow!

I'll give you my tuppence worth, Lamby on what the state of things are:

I wish I knew more about what is actually happening. I'm too remote from events to be able to keep a finger on the pulse, and there are so many conflicting comments / opinions flying around the 'net to be able to count anything as absolutely reliable.

But there is one thing that somebody like myself can be pretty sure of, and it's this:

The fans of this club have been through hell and high water, not only on this crisis, but on many others over a number of years, now. They have been there before, during, and after every occasion when some owner / wide boy / chairman / consortium or any other such individual or grouping, from Gliksten through Hulyer and right up to Duchatelet, has sought to exploit this club.

The spivs come and go, but the fans remain and when everything that happens tells me that the club is at risk and the fans are taking action to save it, then I trust and support them.

I'd trust Duchatelet no further than I could drop kick an elephant but I believe the fans truly hold the best interests of the club at their heart.

We'll undoubtedly come through this and things will settle down again.... for a while. Unfortunately, it seems to be the lot of this club to forever be the target for any chancer who thinks this little corner of south London prime-site would look a lot better with a block of very profitable flats on it. And it will be the fans...... Charlton Athletic's "Minutemen", ready to stand up and be counted at a moment's notice..... who will see off them off. Again.

So much for not being a quitter and all sticking together. Absolute clown, no wonder we've been abysmal recently. Bet the players are delighted their manager keeps attempting to abandon ship. Just fuck off Karl, you're toilet anyway.

Quite obvious that Roland is just waiting for an approach from Oxford to then pocket the compensation before leaving, probably why he's stalling on the sale.

When will this end ffs.

Cue more of our fans claiming we should never have gotten rid of him and everyone was happier together. Absolute nonsense, a wonderful manager when things go his way, he needs a strong, experienced assistant (John Gorman) otherwise he struggles when things get tough.

If he is indeed off to Oxford, why hasn’t he just resigned and joined them? Could have done that ages ago if he is the chosen one. Summat doesn’t smell right.

Pretty much sums him up.

Things have started going wonky for him and he's lost the plot, having a go at fans and trying to resign. Don't think he's a particularly good manager at all.

There were rumours over the weekend that he has actively been looking for other jobs. Supposedly he contacted Fleetwood and told them he'd be interested in their position a while back.

It's obvious what he's done here by telling the media that he tried to resign. It's a come and get me plea to the likes of Oxford. Just hope they oblige and take the idiot.
