Ok for now, but tomorrow at work will feel like bloody forever.

That's what it's all about though isn't it, nerves, worry, excitement. For too many England games mostly outside of the tournaments you just feel...nothing. It's good that something feels important.
Exactly. In truth, I wasn't really that bothered in the last World Cup either, nor the Euros. I'm not sure why, but this world cup has got me all edgy - maybe because I work in a very international environment now. If we lose on Tuesday it will be difficult to walk in to work like nothing happened

I chose to do two weeks on the west coast of America this year instead of potentially going to Russia with a couple of mates. At the moment I'm still happy with my choice but the further we get the less sure I am about it.

Are Colombia the best side England have faced in a competitive match since Germany in 2010?

Also, I've been astounded by how many people misspell it 'Columbia'.

Why are you astounded? It's the capital of America, hardly surprising some people mix the spelling.

The capital is commonly referred to as Washington DC, not Columbia.

And, also, wouldn't that make it less likely people misspell it?

Colombia is a huge South American country, people really should know how to spell it.

This Colombia side don't quite seem at it like they were in 2014. Are they better than France 2012? Italy 2012? Italy and Uruguay 2014?

Well, they beat Uruguay in 2014, and now Rodriguez is a regular at a higher level whilst Falcao is actually available. Would say they are a better side.

Looking back, that France side from 2012 is awful, amazing how much they have transformed since then. Italy lost to Costa Rica in 2014.

Although, you could have a point with Italy in 2012. They were a good side.

Germany didn't look like they had hardly any to me. Argies have filled grounds the most then Colombia imo.
This. Germans were in few numbers compared to the South Americans. Argentina haven't been very present though. It's mostly been Mexico, Peru and especially Colombia.

England has roughly 55 million people, Colombia 50 million. On the basis of that we should smash them.

Colombia haven’t been great since 2014, scraped through South American qualifying and don’t think they beat Brazil, Uruguay or a poor Argentina during. They don’t seem at the level they were then, possibly down to James struggling for fitness as he was massive for them in 2014 and seem to be laboured without him at peak form.

I actually assumed they were better than they appear to be until I looked at their performances in qualifying and thought they were top ten in the rankings but are below England.

They will be an awkward opponent but we seem to be favourites (not that it counts for much) most bookies are offering around 3/1 on a Colombia win.

Will be a tense night, I am nervous, entering into the tournament I wanted a respectable showing with promise for the future with our success in the youth sides and the fact our squad is so young... but now it feels like we have everything to lose with the way it’s shaped up for the potential path to the final. It’s a nice problem to have but one if we lose we will be thinking “what if” for years!

Still chew over 2002 where had we dealt with ten man Brazil I felt we’d have had that second star by now with Turkey and a poor German outfit in our way had we got past!

They certainly looked and sounded it in the stadium. All support from European teams other than Iceland has quite frankly been absolutely embarrassing

Got a bad feeling about this one. Think we'll lose.

Just can't shake the feeling our players are gonna get the fear again. Happens all too often when we reach the knockouts (I think that horrible Iceland game will be forever seared into my memory). Also slightly concerned about how our rickety defence will fare against a team with a modicum of flair.

Obvs hope I'm very wrong :err:

I can get through work, easy. I lined up a couple of interviews for today so that will pass the time well enough.

However, that time between 5.30 & 8pm kick off - I have no idea what i'll do, probably just sit in the hallway rocking back and forth singing its coming home

Was about to correct your kickoff time, but just noticed your location. What are you doin gou there, if you don't mind me asking? That extra hour on us must be a killer haha.

I work in sales in the life sciences industry, after finishing uni I had hit a glass ceiling in Sainsbury's with all their cut backs, couldn't seem to get anyone to reply to grad job applications so just thought f*ck it take a risk - 3 years later I've never looked back! I'm always looking for native speakers if you're interested ;) (PS, iFollow is the greatest thing ever created)

Yep the hour drives me mad, but at the same time the other game kicks off at 4pm meaning I can start doing some 'lead research' at the end of my day

Russia will win the tournament, and they rightly should with a population like theirs.

Football is no where near the dominant sport in Russia, Ice Hockey vies for supremecy.

Also I read an article that Russia has one of the most ethnically homogeneous teams in the tournament, that certainly doesn't help and is coincidentally a problem Scotland has too.

Reading some of the replies on this thread, are England the most sensitive football fans of all time? They don't even like it when they are told the correct the spelling of the country they are playing.

As a twist on my earlier question, when was the last time England beat a team as good, or better, than Colombia in a competitive match?
