Lets hope this euro millions guy can improve the ground.
I know you clearly disagree but coming from a Gateshead I find your comments about our ground a bit Rich. Our ground isnt perfect by any stretch as you need a roof on the away end but at least you dont need binoculars to see. Its better than a number in last years Conference, Ferriby,Guiseley,Solihull,Boreham Wood. And for the umptineeth time its much better than Gateshead's as a football stadia.

The tea lady now I suspect, seeing as the Chairman resigned.

The catering company have actually left too. This is not a joke.

The latest names linked with our manager position are Mark Wright and Shaun Goater. I have given up all hope.

Much as I dislike and deride Borehamwood, their ground is much much better than Alfreton's and is a reasonable ground at Conference level. You can argue reasonably for Alfreton against the others on your list though.

Did he do terribly at Ilkeston in the end? There was an Guardian article about his new job there a few months ago.
It hard to really judge him with the back drop of chronic problems at Ilkeston and with the players for much of the final 10 games playing without being paid. That said from what I heard the football served up was extremely negative and not easy on the eye.

Goater had no opportunity to bring anybody in though and so didnt raid his considerable contacts book. Would be an extremely risky and ill advised IMO risk for Southport.

Can you elaborate?

Got a few burning questions and have heard mixed reviews myself.
I dealt with him during my time working at the Grimsby Telegraph. He's a nice guy and his heart is in the right place, but there's no way he should be anywhere near a boardroom. It was obvious John Fenty was just using him for his cash at Grimsby.

I left in September of last year so I'm not exactly sure what happened with his departure but I know there was some falling out with Fenty. Pretty sure there were some issues with the supporters as well but you'll have to rely on the Grimsby fans on here to elaborate on that.

Apparently Brabin has been interviewed for the Hartlepool job and his odds have come in from 20/1 to 6/1 overnight. He'd be as good as a play-off guarantee they could get. Decent appointment if it comes off.

Your performance in 2015/16 suggests otherwise!
I'm sure he also missed out on the play-offs on an occasion with Luton or Cambridge Utd too.

Play-Off guarantee? Surely you mean surefire guarantee of underachievement, no?

Basically what GodsGift said. His wife got involved too and she was the person who brought Wagner in as HT entertainment. There was also the scandal about a racist tweet from his Twitter account being from a hacker, which was never solved.

Probably put about 80k into us overall; think his intentions were good but the fact he was a Man U fan (hur hur) and some baffling PR, it ended on a sour note and I don't think anyone knows his role at the club anymore.

Ooh, there was also the incident where he contacted the police over comments someone made on the Fishy about him.

He did not get us into the play-offs with a top three budget, albeit he had a big rebuilding job on his hands.

Brabin put together a decent squad at Tranmere, but only by picking off player of the year winners and known performers from other clubs. I am not sure he actually has much of an eye for a player, and I would not fancy his chances on more limited resources.

We finished 6th, which under the new system would be a playoff place. I did also say as close as a guarantee, not an absolute.

Cambridge, Luton and Ourselves top 6, which whilst underachieving, would be enough for the playoffs next term.

He underperformed, but only missed out by 2 points.

He was seventeen points behind our total this season though, which says a lot.

I appreciate what you are saying about finishing sixth or seventh, but I am not convinced he would even finish that high with Hartlepool. At Luton (in his only full season) and Tranmere he had massive budgets and could still only manage a position just outside the play-offs before being sacked.

Not another scouser, the last two have been shite, word is new manager won't be announced until next week, extended the deadline as they weren't happy with the applicants so far? Fuck knows where and who that leaves us with.

Paul Cox of Barrow has gone from 12/1 to 1/3 fav in the space of a few hours to be our next manager, very small market like even the smallest of punts would shift things about, I'm not really arsed who we get, someone in charge pretty soon would be nice

Still can't really see this happening - odds are even shorter today, but something's clearly been discussed. The move doesn't really make much sense, as a Barrow fan, plus the compensation would be fairly sizeable with two years left on a well-paid contract.

Barrow allow Cox to talk to Hartlepool.

They came out last week and said they weren't opposed to paying compensation for a manager if it was the right choice, looks like things are progressing quickly

Would seem like a strange move for Cox. Blank cheque book at Barrow or Hartlepool who seem to be in a bit of a mess.

I'd hate to have Cox as manager. Awful hoofball.
