One thing I'm looking forward to back in League 2 is the referees not having so many 'big' teams to give every decision to. The bloke today hasn't even tried to hide it

Derby fans chanting you don't know what you're doing at the ref might be the most ironic thing I've ever heard

Haven’t deserved to lose but we will. Fuck sake. Hoskins missed pen has killed us there.

If you don’t take your chances

A defeat secured at 2pm, fully on Crosby that one and a lot of anger bubbling on the socials towards him at the moment. Same mistakes as Tuesday, no strikers, 8 midfielders and only puts strikers on when the games gone.

Don’t play strikers you don’t score goals and you don’t score goals you don’t win games.

Big two weeks to get Uche fit and some defenders back.

I haven’t watched today, couldn’t see the point, the lads on my group chat said we played ok first half.
But didn’t score.
How depressingly familiar

A point might have been fair but we continue to pay the price for not having replaced Nombe. Gutting to concede so late too.
Oh well, two weeks off to find a fit striker who isn't James Scott

I could understand if we didn’t have any fit strikers but we had two on the bench? It didn’t work Tuesday, i don’t get it, if he doesn’t change the set up to actually have us score goals then we will be in deep trouble come May.

Fans are bias - no doubt they thought you were getting every decision.

Shoddy, don’t question the ethics of total football Bolton Wanderers in allowing them to play their keeper upfront. That’s total football for you after all. Well done to you and your impressive travelling support on the win.

Once again the better team first half (oh no I'm not allowed to say that am I?) But we had no strikers on the pitch so what did we expect? Second half panned out exactly as I thought it would....Pompey wouldn't be as bad in the second half, we'd concede a soft goal and lose comfortably. Our manager sets us up with no striker and we've carried on our trait from last season of gifting easy goals to the opposition...that's only going to end one way. If we'd had Colby Bishop up front, we'd be 2-0 at half time.

Pompey won't believe their luck. They'll play much, much better and lose. We just love to gift wrap a comfortable home win on a plate. Thought we were dire second half in general...a real soft touch. Referee very biased...I think he gave us 1 free kick first half to Pompey's 9 or 10, that just doesn't happen at any level of football. Penalty was a joke too, surely it's a blatant pull on Balmer but as usual with Madley, everyone has come to see him and not the game. Didn't affect the result though.

Frustration with the manager I'm afraid and rightly so. As much as he has done well this season, all of it is starting to unravel and we're plummeting like a stone. Peterborough and Stevenage up next, so it doesn't get any easier. Posh always seem to beat us and we'll struggle against Stevenage's style.

That was a proper performance today. Great atmosphere, great following (no thanks to Avanti) and a great away day.

So many of our games this season have been nearly performances. We haven’t been smashed, but we’ve just limped to narrow defeats more often than not.

But today even though we obliged with our weekly gift when Mellish swiped the ball into his own top bin, we were a lot more precise in the final third and kept our shape really well. Still not perfect as we pissed away 3 more fantastic chances with the garner penalty miss and Maguire’s two chances, plus the calamitous own goal, but it was the most complete performance of the season. Bolton dominated the ball but we dealt with them really well and created by far the more and better chances. We thoroughly deserved the win.

I still think we’re short and will need work in the January window, but we’re talking 1 or 2 quality players, not wholesale changes. This gives us a foundation to build on over the next few months.

What on earth is going on with Mitch Clarke too… let’s play midfielders at full back yet he’s well enough to travel and train all week!

Bit worried by the injury situation as well now. That’s Grant gone again today as well. Down to the bare bones.

A deserved win in the end on an emotional afternoon, seeing Derek Reynolds family on the pitch clearly very upset about whats happened brought a lump to my throat.

We deserved the win overall, we dominated the game for long periods and forced the best chances and moments. Readings goalscorer was lucky to still be on the pitch, another ref shows him a second yellow card for his foul on Archibald.

Reading after they fell behind changed shape and caused us some problems and Brynn made a good save to keep the scores level, we went to pieces a bit after the game went to 1-1.

I didn't think Reading were that terrible, they carried a threat and with Wing and Dean in their side they have good players, but they will struggle this season and remind me alot of our side of 2017 which went down to the NL - Full of youngsters with one or two senior pros and very little end product up front. Only so much the senior pros can do.

David Button lost his bearings from a corner in the 90th minute and George Moncur poked in the winner and we nervously saw the win out.

Ruben Selles and a few of Readings players had it out with their fans at the end, whilst the other half of their team went off. Not a happy camp there at all, unless they get that transfer embargo removed they will go down, a better more clinical opponent today could've had a few goals against them.

Beat Wigan 1-0. Low quality, disjointed game.

We took the lead after 9 minutes, Jordan Roberts was fouled, and in the absence of Jamie Reid, Aaron Pressley converted to make it 1-0. After that Humphrys went close but was denied by Ashby-Hammond. After about half an hour Callum Lang managed to get himself sent off, he picked up a yellow for disputing the award of a corner and then for a poor tackle on Forster-Caskey.

Shortly after that Luther Wildin picked up a serious looking injury, a clash of heads with Piergianni, he was down for about 10 minutes and unfortunately left the pitch on a stretcher, didn't look like a good one at all. Fingers crossed he's ok. That resulted in the first half running until the 65th minute - Aaron Pressley had a double chance but was denied at point blank range before putting the rebound wide, really should have scored.

Second half was very low quality, the chances by and large fell our way but certainly wasn't an onslaught. With about 15 minutes left MacDonald got himself sent off to even the numbers. Hughes fouled Thompson and then MacDonald stupidly took out Hughes, it was right by the benches so it kicked off, ended with a load of yellow cards and MacDonald seeing red.

10 v 10 seemed to spark Wigan in to life slightly, Magennis had a great chance to level 5 minutes from time but after that never got too close.

Wasn't a thriller but good to get a win after two defeats, the referee was throwing cards around for fun today, we had 3 yellows and a red, Wigan 9 yellows plus Lang's 2 being a red. Not sure if was that dirty a game to be honest.

Sounded like a stinking second half from us off the back of a fairly promising first half where we spurned two or three chances.

So much for our 'mini revival' Outplayed, outfought all over the pitch by a really good team. They will be well up there come season end and we could well be down at the other end. It was too easy at times for Wickum as they cut through our measly defense with ease. Positives, well the weather was kind so Highbury was comfortable even though the team weren't

You did the double over us in 2021? I dont think we deserved to lose that one, you only looked threatening after we went down to 10 and were pushing for a goal.
Yep, ref completely shite for both sides. But when are they not shite?

You were comfortably the better team in the 1st half but Billy Bodin was clinical and James Beadle was excellent in goal, bar dropping the ball that caused 2 of the saves. We were comfortably best in the 2nd half, dominant and threatening from the 50th minute or so well before Brown's sending off. Some of our decision making when in great positions was laughable in the 2nd half though. Stan Mills and Josh Murphy ran your full backs ragged in the 2nd half.

All the players sent off were idiots and were rightly sent off.

What was your keeper chasing after the Ref for with the 2nd goal? If it was offside then he had one behind him and one directly to the side.

And was your fan alright that the physios went into the crowd for?

Don’t think the Wigan manager was too impressed but guess he wouldn’t be !

I think both sides struggled to adjust to so many changes. Vale definitely had the better of the first half.
Second 45 we ramped up a gear. Bishop did what Bishop does and it was game over.

Chuks Aneke is a cheat code at this level, just a shame he can only manage 30 mins a game and will inevitably be out for the season soon…

Defensive fragility saw us go 2-0 down and Blackpool rarely threatened but were clinical.

Subs made a huge difference for us and deservedly got a point out the game

so, you had a very good performance and we were really poor? You had six shots and we had 17, not to mention won out in every other statistical metric.

I’m obviously disappointed with the result, but by no means were we second best at any point in the game.

The game was essentially a repeat of the Cambridge match, lots of attacking situations that we just couldn’t take advantage of and another wasted opportunity. Lack of cutting edge, end product. A lot of vitriol being levelled in the way of the management staff. The positivity from Tuesday already gone after today’s result.

Didn’t go today unfortunately as I’ve just finished work. So relieved to not only score, but get those important three points too. Bonus is that Udoh got back on the scoresheet, hopefully that’ll kick start a run for him now goals wise.

Time to finally have a celebratory pint on a Saturday evening once more. May as well make the most of it as it’ll be back to losing ways next weekend.

as per recent weeks, decent play, wasteful and then inevitably drop a bollock.
You had no intention of even attempting to win the game. I'm not surprised Barnsley scored 7 if thats how u normally play.

Most boring team I've seen all season

You wan't that cnut in the white that was acting like he was on a day out from the local loony bin.?
