Yeah the commentary couldn’t understand the referee lecturing him when he wasn’t taking particularly long about it.
If we take longer than 5 seconds at any away grounds with a throw in or free kick ect our players get booked or warned for tikewasting but other teams come vale take the piss like nobody's business and get away with it most of the time

Scrappy game with neither team playing particularly well. We were poor from an attacking point of view but it didn't feel like we were time wasting.

Should have held on for a point but just didn't play well enough today. The goal is a clear foul though...we'll probably get another apology letter.

It happens...we weren't anywhere near our best so tried to hold on for a point at a difficult place to go on a cold horrible day. We didn't...move on to a couple of winnable home games.

Wycombe host Ipswich which won't be easy for em

We’ve got a shit record v Ipswich sadly, and I can’t see that changing for our next game.

We’re poor going forward at the moment and if you mark Mehmeti out of the game (like Lincoln did today) we’re pretty fucked.

So no-one up the business end of the table should be holding their breath expecting any favours from us.

It really is strange how we can never get up for a game against FGR.
El Glosico

Wrong: -

However in past two years both clubs have won their 1st home league game again their Glorious Gloucestershire opponents in nearly 100 years.

Went to the pub to watch the England game (Grrrrrrrr) where the landlady said that the police had advised her there had been trouble at ground, hence the police presence outside Stroud pubs.
As it was most supporters ended up in the Lord John, near the rail station. A few Cheltenham supporters did turn up in my pub and they were very generous in complimenting FGR, saying they it was a fair result. [Okay they might say different to their own mates but ........... ]

That lad who was marking Coburn got away with shirt pulling all afternoon. Your keeper started time wasting midway through the first half. We werent at the races but at least tried to play football
no more than coburn was pulling Jones' shirt to be fair, he dragged him down to the floor twice...the only two times we got anything for it and the radio bristol commentary team couldn't understand it. I think ellis harrison got much less out of the ref than coburn, he was battered all afternoon and not sure he got a single foul in his favour.

and as for timewasting, that was laughable, twice we warned for timewasting when the ball was still with a ball boy and your lot kicked the ball away every time it went dead and then stopped us taking quick freekicks multiple times.

amazed me how poor the commentary was, when they commented after about 70 minutes that it's the first time a physio had come onto the pitch...yet we're supposedly time wasting from early on.
Another funny one was when they moaned that we "just wanted jones to take all our throws" implying we're doing it for time wasting reasons and not because he's our long thrower....you did exactly the same multiple times but that apparently wasn't time wasting.

frustrating afternoon but we'll bounce back.

There was more than 591 vale fans at Bristol. The seats part was full so 400 and 400 in terrace part aswell so that figure even though it's an official figure it's miles wrong.
It probably isn't

Yeah not to bothered by yesterday in the end, certainly not to the levels of the Oxford debacle. We were well below the standard we’ve set lately but still barring a dire referee decision mixed with poor keeping should have got a deserved point on the road. Other results recently make it less of a concern as long as we get points in the two home games against Accrington and Morecambe.

No doubt another apology letter to file away! Ref seemed to teleport to Qatar two hours later which made a frustrating day all round really!

You know you’re in for a battle at Rovers so have to match their physicality or you’ll get bullied there so not sure what else we are meant to do? Their lad was all over DJ as much as we was giving it back and was a proper old school battle.

DC was absolutely furious in his interview with the officials suggested he will have to tell his players to throw themselves to the ground in future to get the decision.

Overall not one that will live long in the memory to be honest with you, after a crazy opening 20 it was a really poor game.

A few months ago there was a serious debate on what constitutes a local derby game and a Cheltenham supporter claimed El Glosico was not a derby game.
Hey-ho the Cheltenham's manager claims otherwise.

It's a local game not a derby and the El Glosico sounds like the invention of someone with learning difficulties

The whole stand is about 800 and the away seating is about 25% I think. Didn’t see the game or even follow it but 600 looks about right to me, from the highlights.

Good following that. Long distance, right before Christmas and England playing France right after meaning stay in Bristol to watch or miss it - fair play I say.

Fuck me you are boring. I thought we'd agreed to disagree on this years ago, but you will not let it lie will you?

So, and I apologise to all the other fans on here who care less about this game than I do, here is my view on matters.

As Barrie says, Cheltenham v FGR is a local game - at the moment it is the closest thing Cheltenham fans have to a local derby/rivalry so the younger ones have latched onto it. To anyone around my age and have been following the club for the last 25-30 years, it is simply a local game. Our derby is Gloucester City for more reasons than I care to get into again, but the short and long of it is that it runs deeper than football. Whilst we're not a same-city derby, the two conurbations are so close to pretty much be one. As many people in Gloucester travel to Cheltenham for work, etc... and vice-versa.

Before Dale Vince, myself and a number of other Cheltenham fans used to travel over to FGR to watch them if we couldn't make the Cheltenham game that day (if they were away and I had plans in the evening, for example). I cannot hate a team that I used to wish well and, not only that, actually own a shirt of (the green Smiths one from the 07/08 season). I don't hate FGR, they are not our big derby, no matter how much you want it to be so. I didn't go yesterday, and have no intention of attending a game at TNL any time in the near future. If we're playing Gloucester though, I'm there like a shot - that's the difference.

That FGR couldn't even muster 3,000 home fans for a "derby" indicates that a lot of their fans don't consider it one either.

Forget anything Wade Elliott says, it's irrelevant to the conversation. He's been at Cheltenham 2 and a half years and probably knows nothing about Gloucester City and our traditional rivalry with them.

Finally, as you keep mentioning it, don't forget the origins of :sigh: El Glosico :sigh: - it was for an FA Cup game between FGR and Gloucester City. That it stuck for a completely different game is embarrassing to everyone - even Jon Palmer apologised to me on our podcast for his use of it.

That's it now - I'm done on the matter. I will say no more other than to talk about the game itself in April.

Deserved a point really, neither side did enough to warrant a win, the xG was awful for it (all be it shaded by us). Referee gifted you the winner we move on.

While checking out the derby game between the two Gloucestershire League 1 teams on YouTube I came across this video of game by a Cheltenham Vlogger.
At 5min 8 seconds the Cheltenham crowd are ribbing a fan who was being evicted from ground, not realising he was one of their own who had infiltrated the FGR home area.
Actually it was a fair assessment of game and the Vlogger should be complemented.

Blimey you've got a chip on your shoulder. Did a Stoke lad have his way with your missus?

I like Bristol as a city but I wouldn't want to live there. I live on the edge of the peak district and it's some of the most amazing countryside in the UK...not everybody who is from Stoke lives in a pot bank.

A city is made by its people and you couldn't find friendlier down to earth people than those from Stoke....even those with money. If you go to Clifton everyone thinks they're living in Knightsbridge or something.
