Again, I fancy anyone at home and this weekend is no different. Be interesting if SPM scores and see if he celebrates or not. Don't think he played for Cambridge with fans?

Doubt he'd go wild in celebration, it's well documented the regard he holds us in. Maybe less so now Bonz isn't there, but still. Not that league one players should have an autobiography in their mid 20s but alas...

We were one of the clubs that were the canary in the coalmine for letting fans back in, so there were one or two matches with a very reduced amount of fans present (think we lost both to nil), but basically no, not really.

Our small neighbours Wigan as usual have failed to sell out as for the long trip to the Tough Sheet.
TBF to Wigan...it's really a rugby town - to me at least! (I always hear Eddie Waring's dulcet tones in my head whenever I hear the name 'Wigan')

Even when they were in the Prem, to see the swathes of empty seats was quite embarassing. I feel for the Wigan fans that actually ARE footie fans though...but to not sell their allocation out, when living on your doorstep...well :ffs:

How many were they given btw?

Paul Mullin has an autobiography out?

Utter Woke nonsense, as Dyche would say.

Well the biggest chance of losing our unbeaten run comes this weekend against Gareth Ainsworth’s Shrewsbury.

GA was always a great man-motivator, but he’ll want the team to be extra up for this, as he faces a side managed by his former player and assistant coach, and a solid core of our current side are also players he managed.

I’m expecting all the usual spoiling and timewasting tricks - the key is not to concede first, otherwise the breaking up play will only get more extreme.

Hoping not to lose to a 103rd minute sickener - a header from Wycombe old boy Aaron Pierre perhaps.
We might be able to Nick a draw in this one. Wycombe are bound to have chances as our defensive players just aren't good enough. Pierre and Benning should be back for this, but no idea what Ainsworth will do with the team. Said after the Cambridge game that he can't fault the effort and it's not the players fault if they're not good enough.

At least one of Udoh or Leahy to get a goal

Away at the circus today and how times have changed, certainly since the last time I went, just a couple of hundred of us and a lovely little social club near the ground, I hear that you can use all 4 stands now!

As for the game, we’re finally getting a player back or 2 so the bench should be the strongest since the start of the season. 5/1 seems to big for me on 365 but the home form has to be applauded.

Now to the legend that is mullin, we haven’t had the chance to thank him for putting himself in our record books so fully expecting an excellent reception for him, probably a goal to knowing him.

Praying for a win but fully expecting a defeat.

Always have been and always will be a Rugby town. Very few if any fans actually come from the town of Wigan. You will find they come from places like Chorley, Leyland, St Helens, Haydock etc
Most also support a second premier league team ie your Man Utd, Liverpool and Everton. They followed Wigan for a few seasons but are now returning to there warm armchairs to follow their premiership team.

Another 5 years they wont be playing at the Brick Shithouse Stadium but will be ground sharing with Leigh or Chorley

Mullin was on loan to us the season before he joined permanently, done well in his loan too.

We were also one of the club's who trialled having fans back.

Dunno, you see plenty of football club crests out and about wherever you are in the Borough, not so much in Chorley and Leyland (both seem more Bolton or Preston and both over the county border).

Some truth in other clubs being supported in Wigan though, lots of Everton and City, as well as the other scousers and Man U.

Certainly see as much Warriors stuff as Football stuff, but the truth is they're relative latecomers to having a half decent football team and it's not that big of a place, so it's hard to tell what's good or bad for them really. They're average 8k at home so taking 3.5k isn't completely shameful, even if it is only a few miles away.

Ah well, I'm looking forward to watching this one either way!

It's nice when clubs have got their own anthem

We've got "The Scarf my Father Wore"

Birmingham have got "Keep Right On"

And Bolton have got "Booooooo"

After seeing Orient play twice this week, they don’t half waste some chances. Those start dropping in and there’s the crux of a playoff challenging side

I’ve thought this for awhile, if they back wellens in jan and stay injury free then they’ve got every chance, it’s bang average this year.

The only thing that matters is what they do on the pitch , watched the first half they played you off the park . Well done Wigan they looked a good side at ours and were a class above your lot today, the amount of fans they have didn’t seem to make any difference all I could hear on tv were the Wigan fans , do Bolton actually sing , it was a close derby as you say. Shocking home support.

Broken record but we probably be winning by now if we had Gregory, Akins and Evans composure in front of goal is so poor.
