We managed to actually not lose a game.

Fair play to the lads for battling today, they worked hard today but there is so little quality. We were never going to score as we had to play without a striker for 60 minutes, thankfully Rochdale didn't really look like scoring either.

Really low quality game today, two very poor sides.

Swindon was never going to be an easy place to go and get something so dead chuffed with that result. Missed this Saturday winning feeling.

Deserved win, another efficient performance from ourselves. We're miles and miles ahead of what we was last season. If we can keep the same level of performance we have done in the first 3 games and add some squad depth I am quietly confident we wil be there or thereabouts.

Aaron Drinan looked a terrible signig on paper, but has so far scored 2 and looked quite useful so far.

Difficult to fully judge Exeter because of their Covid problem, they had a really poor first half and really we should've had a third goal after Ruel Sotiriou missed an open goal. Clear they was lacking a striker up top, had the penalty gone in then the game would've almost certainly ended differently. One of Vigs weaknesses is he can have a rush of blood to the head when he's had next to nothing to do sometimes. Jonathan Grounds had a mare as well, no idea what he was doing for the second booking he got.

Dreadful performance. Oldham should have had at least a point. Probably the worst opposition keeper I've seen by the way. Absolute vegan wrists.

The chances we miss are unreal, that’s three games now, not sure we can blag enough wins all season when we couldn’t hit a barn door to maintain a decent promotion push.
Odd one today, we were crap and spent the game unsuccessfully pumping the ball up front for it to come straight back - 35% possession yet with 19 shots, four or so blasted high into the stands from in front of goal.
Credit the Oldham keeper for wasting just enough time to give us chance to get the penalty at the end and for having sieves for hands.

Steady if unspectacular from vale and tranmere today.
Either could’ve won it had they been brave enough.
Heard conlon’s been sold, any one else heard this?
We really missed him today, garrity, Walker and pett were all pretty poor, if that’s our midfield then we’ll be lucky stay mid table.

What was up with the Oldham keeper in the second half? Looked spaced out for the last half hour and barely moved from his line. Even when they're were losing he was moving like a snail to go and pick the ball up for a goal kick.

Check the highlights later! I'd be trying shots from the halfway line to be honest.

Someone said he got a knock when he challenged with Cook earlier?

They could play without him and will still keep a clean sheet, we are that bad

Yeah I remember that but he didn't require treatment for it so I'm not sure it affected him that much

not heard that, clarke just said he has an impact injury and they're expecting him to be out for less than 2 weeks

Oh and as much as I love our owners and think they're doing a fantastic job, get some fucking turnstile staff in. It was shambolic before the game. I turned up early because of similar before the cup game and still queued for 20 mins only to let in via a side door in the gate with a guy counting on a piece of paper.

It was disappointing to read about that. I hope the club learn their lesson on this quickly and to be fair they did apologise for it on social media. It’s a shame as it seems the fan zone they’d set up was a big success by all accounts. As I say I just hope those who were coming the first time or back after a long time haven’t been put off for something that is avoidable.

Happy with a 0-0 today. Salford probably dominated possession however our defence was rock solid and kept chances down to a minimum. Perhaps we could have nicked the win when Louis John had a header hit the post following the one decent corner in the game.

First ever EFL point for Sutton.

I wasn't at the game and for the first time in a year, wasn't able to watch a league game in any format, live or otherwise.

Sounds like despite the injury to Clough and lack of a proper number 9, we're not as toothless as HG fears. Strikers misfired a bit in our opening games but Abrahams off the mark should be good for his form and Mellish and Riley were threats last year and a couple of quiet games doesn't mean they've lost all their ability.

Not sure what happened for the equaliser, BBCRC said our defence was nowhere to be seen, but otherwise they were quite complementary about our back four... less so when we went to a back five.

We'll get better as the season goes on hopefully.

Huge queues but the fan zone was decent, thought it was a cracking atmosphere too especially early on in the game.

One of those games really, two good sides going for it but Tranmere didn’t create much and what we did create we’ve not put away. Thought they were going to smash and grab us at the end when that ball went across the box!

Can tell we need time to gel and hopefully these two attackers we get in before deadline help get us more potent in front of goal.

As for Tranmere… huge void to replace in Vaughan I would say, it’s a huge loss as he’s such a top striker so will need to fill that but similar problems to us… their number 11 having that ball coming out to him going to rifle it and somehow totally scuffing it to pea roll out summed up today really.

Plenty of positives and both sides should improve and do well this season.

Dan Jones is absolutely class

Thanks for the assessment. The Covid issue is a blow but we should have strength in depth to cover it. Now we have Sparkes and Atangana out as well its a difficult few weeks ahead

Conlon had an injury which we’ve had to inject but should be back in a week or two (probably means Tuesday knowing DC!)

Second half I thought you moved the ball about well enough, Browns running in behind caused us some problems. One of those days for you when you miss a pen to change the feel of the game, then have a man sent off, then let the third goal in straight away.

You are the biggest cry baby little fanny on this forum :2thumb:
Don’t take too much notice of him. He is very anti-Newport and his summary bears absolutely no relation to the match stats. He tends to see Mansfield as football purists, gets frustrated that their financial muscle has yet to bring promotion and in the past has commented on County’s ‘physicality’ on the basis of two minute highlights on Stag TV (or whatever it is). Two seasons ago, he ignored all the red cards Mansfield had at the start of the campaign to have a go at our disciplinary record! Interestingly, today Mansfield committed 18 fouls, County 12. Both sides had nine shots at goal, they had five on target and we had four.
From a County perspective, today was very close. Mansfield are a decent, strong side and will certainly be in the mix for automatics. Maris was a handful. We had a fair bit of the ball second half, especially wide, but didn’t really think we would score. Substitutions didn’t change things and we obviously weren’t helped by having to make four changes from last week. We won’t have many tougher trips this year. Wish Mansfield well and move on.

My MOM was Clarke for his goal or Bishop who was very good in goal apart from one wayward kick.
The whole Newport team was massive. They played some decent football in the early stages but then their entire game was move the ball to the sides and launch in as many long crosses as possible once they realised they could get in down the flanks and our centre backs are weak. I am amazed that we won that because one of our centre backs is a midget and the other despite being 6 ft 4 misjudges headers all the time, and was dwarfed in the second half by the Newport substitute.

I know we like to give referees a hard time but that was shockingly bad. Even Gassy who thinks wrestling moves are acceptable in football would have been wanting some free kicks.
A more balanced Mansfield reflection than that of Mr Stag.

I don’t agree with Adam in regards to Newport today, but the referee was absolutely atrocious and regularly gave away free-kicks to Newport when it was actually the other way round, your defenders really struggled to contain Oli Hawkins upfront and kept fouling him, nothing vicious, general shirt pulling, and he just let it happen throughout the entire game. In fairness he also missed a blatant yellow for James Perch.

I agree today was close, although I think we did edge it overall and offered a bigger threat, Abrahams looked a handful and your #18 (forgot to check who it is) was probably your best player. We matched the physicality you lot offered, and just had that bit extra quality on the ball. I’m sure Newport will be challenging for top seven again.

I think that’s a very fair assessment, Wouldn’t argue with too much of it. The 18 is Finn Azaz who is on loan from Villa and spent last season at Cheltenham. He’s actually a little bit lightweight but should do well. All the best for the season, I think you’ll be top three.

We have another keeper. But apparently we aren’t able to play him for one reason or another. Embarrassing from us to not come away with a point at the end but that’s us all over - always find a way to fuck it. Gut wrenching
