I'd fancy us against that back four you know, if they're all the players that I'm thinking of then it's four big old units. Looks an absolutely perfect back four for League Two but absolutely not the one you need against the team who haven't put a corner into the box since 2021.

Problem is I'd also fancy us to concede at least two headers to them from their own set pieces.

We are utterly hopeless at set-pieces in terms of delivery, scored from one corner all season and that was a short one.

Regarding that back four, Brunt is a young player on loan from Leicester that is traditionally a midfielder so loves to run with it. Cargill is the same, got promoted with that FGR side that played from the back really well, so the comments don’t fit at all to be honest.

Aden Flint is obviously a big unit, but he’s played majority of his career higher than L2 and is still comfortably a top end L1 player in my opinion.

Personally I would play Johnson-Flint-Cargill-Macdonald as my back four.

More defensively than on the ball - I know Brunt and Cargill are very good players, the latter in particularly I really hoped we'd sign in the summer. But they definitely strike me as a defence that's main strength is defending crosses and aerial balls, they're all massive.

Yeah Cargill would fit in with you guys, I dunno we struggle with set-pieces attacking and defending I would not say the main strength is defending aerial balls at all to be honest.

Our main strength is pretty passing and scoring lots of goals. Our main weakness is defensive lapses in concentration, individual errors and conceding goals.

I believe the league table GF/GA columns support this belief.

Clearly a big game brewing here. If I had to put money on I'd go for a Notts win. I think their football will win out if both teams play their usual stuff.

I'll defo be watching the battle of the xG possession merchants before going to our game to watch Parkyball smash those tinpotters all over the place.

Didn’t need to worry about our set pieces mate, especially if they’re as miserable as the tripe served up saturday. The natives were less than pleased at full time and will be expecting better this time round.

Not sure who the others in their back 4 are but against us Aiden Flint was magnificent, not often you notice an opposition teams CB as a stand out as it’s usually attacking flair players that you notice but he was just so good that day, he is playing way below his natural level being in League 2.

That performance doesn’t stand out for Mansfield fans, he’s played like that every game.

Only thing we’ve not seen from him is his attacking threat in the air but that’s down to poor delivery.

He's always been quality when I've seen him play at a higher level.

When you have players playing well below their natural level they stand out massively and regularly. Thanks to fantastic recruitment we are fortunate to have a few who should not be playing in League 2 but thankfully they are, with us.

Stockport were the best side I saw at Harrogate last season. I fear we will get brayed again. I'd be very happy with a draw or even a losing margin of less than 2 goals.

Horrible time to be playing us, I know every run has to end some time but think there's still more legs in us. Two forwards in superb form, then Madden grabs a hat-trick in the Trophy to go and stake his own claim.

Shame I can't make the game, I've got a thermos flask with a bigger capacity than your away end.

Cannot remember where this came from, maybe twitter but after this weekend Mansfield have played everyone in the current top 7. Made me feel a tad better about the draws.
You've also drawn with us, Bradford, Colchester and Donny...

I am aware, two of them about right mind. Donny was the let down.

that’s the issue we’ve had this season though, doncaster and grimsby should’ve been put to bed long before full time, but we didn’t and that’s our problem.

Like the draw with wrexham.

I was expecting big things from swan and he’s been pretty abysmal to date, though he’s not at full fitness.

Complete sell out now for Saturday. Looks like we’ll finally find out what our capacity is ( minus a bit for the cameras) because no one seems to know…

It's not often a large and very impressive away following of that size is still comfortably outnumbered by the home support.

Should be a great atmosphere and a fantastic rare sight of a sold out Meadow Lane. A few years ago this would have been unimaginable, this season it was fully expected.

Times are a changing :2thumb:

So Forest fans are helping your attendance out again, then? Surprised you don't pay for them to go as well..

Yup , Forest reaching the promised land to bob around in the lower half of the table playing low block football whilst filling up the City Ground each week has definitely helped our attendances.

Oh that and the fact we play much more attractive football than them, score more, win more and it's cheaper.

Pay them? No cheap ticket offers for this one just a full price sell out of somewhere around 17,000. Oh and it's televised to boot.

Everybody at this level needs a bit of external assistance to make attendances jump after all.

Think he's just making the point because Forest haven't got a game.

Very defensive.

Club have put on Twitter it's 16500 sold with few remaining, I assumed we'd have more because the Sirrel isn't being split but suppose it doesn't matter about segregation if you're only allowed 70% of the seats to be filled anyway.

Looking at the seating arrangements we might not be far off a sell out against you as well.

We are truly blessed to have so many Forest fans so generous with their time and money.

I find both sets of fans sensitive to be honest, can tell you’ve not been in this section for a long time!

I was on the football forum way back in 2006 (albeit under a different username), and love to be a wind up merchant, especially from our new found rivals Nottingham Clownty.

Someone’s got to care about county - they’ve been actively looking a while for another club who take them seriously as a rival. Maybe you could be their saviour

Cracking effort tbh, pleased the pull of Mansfield is so strong :)
