He did say Guthrie is available so not sure how it works if not until next week that we de register? Unless you get a period of time or it ceases to cap when the window is open?
true, i think you can maybe make temporary changes -eg drop anyone out who is not in the squad tomorrow and just put them back in next week if needs be.

I'm more looking forward to the team announcement than the match itself!

So you can have more then 22 players but just register and de-register a few of them when needed?

Yeah would assume so whilst the window is open. Pope out for at least 8 weeks so a decision to make as that’s mid March earliest and thats if no set backs.

Imagine he’s de registered and if say Theo is sold we’d change it back.

Team news will be interesting, unpredictable unlike Askey so will keep Cooper guessing as even we have no idea! I personally would go the Askey 4-3-3 here though or we’ll be overrun in the middle. 4-4-2 is ok at home against poor sides but not here.

Makes sense. Don't really get the point in capping the size of the squad when there's a budget cap.

We opposed it I think. It was the wrong time to bring it in during a pandemic when you have the injuries teams are having and means less players getting club thus unemployed.

EFL rules:

3.9 Squad Lists

43.9.1 Clubs shall be permitted to name up to a maximum number of Players in their Squad
List based on the following provisions:

(a) in respect of Championship Clubs, 25 Players of which a minimum of 8 must be a Home Grown Player;

(b) in respect of League One and Two Clubs:
(i) in Season 2020/21, 22 Players of which a minimum of 8 must be a Home Grown Player; and
(ii) in Season 2021/22 and each subsequent Season, 20 Players of which a minimum of 8 must be a Home Grown Player.

The limit set out in Regulation 43.9.1(b)(ii) increases to 22 for any Club relegated into League One, for its first Season following relegation.

43.9.2 The following Players do not need to be included in the Squad List to be eligible to play in League Matches:

(a) in respect of Championship Clubs, any Under 21 Player (save for any Under 21 Player who is registered with the Club on a Temporary Loan Transfer); and

(b) in respect of League One Clubs and League Two Clubs, any Under 21 Players

Can’t believe Bradford have called that off already, hopefully common sense will prevail and Crawley will just be given the 3 points without playing it.

There's a limit on the amount of 21+ players as well.

For this season only, taking them off the squad list means they're not counted within the salary cap this season. Next season everyone will be included, whether they're on the squad list or not. It's just giving Club's a year to adjust.

That video of Bobby Madeley explaining the reason why the Bradford v Crawley game is postponed is pathetic. Its not down to some random football referee to say the roads around a football stadium are not safe.

If the roads around and leading to the ground are not safe then thats the duty of the police to close them and if they aren't closed the police (and local council) have made the de facto decision that they are safe to use.

Is the A605 (or whatever) open? Are cars travelling through Bradford?

Nothing I can do about it but its unlike Yorkshireman to act like a bunch of wooses.

Can't think that we have anyone we'd loan out tbh unless they're an U18. Maybe Remy Howarth or Theo Archibald, although neither are young, Remy's had some game time recently (although might benefit from a decent run of games rather than stop-start here) and Theo is injured.

The feels like temperature tomorrow morning is forecast for -5 with heavy snow expected until mid-morning, so given that the ground is the coldest place in the world at the best of times we might be struggling tomorrow too.

Thinking about it, maybe Zach Elbouzedi, he's only 22.

Be great to win away at Stevenage today as could yet again kick start some momentum. We have 3 home games following on from this so a real chance to move forward. We also have 3 games in hand on some teams now.

We looked good against Leicester especially in an attacking sense which has been a problem for me this season. If we can keep that up and keep it tight at the back then I’d be confident we’ll come away with all 3 points.

Yeah, take the Chelsea approach, have what seems like hundreds of players on your books...but under the salary cap restrictions pay them all £30 per week...it would be like a return to life on the YTS.

I thought that was what Grimsby were already doing tbh.

In his interview yesterday Mark Cooper made a comment about having a small squad, which can work well from the point of view of having more quality and not having to keep lots of players well motivated, if you are in the squad you are more than likely involved in the matchday squad. By my reckoning we currently have 22 players at the club, if you don't include those out on loan, and that includes players we have in on loan and the likes of McCoulsky, Bunker and Covil who are unlikely to feature any time soon. That is little more than a squad for a league game, which doesn't bother me too much as there is plenty of quality and nobody I would worry to see starting a game, the only problem is if we suffer injuries or suspensions...then it could mean raiding the academy for players.

Evatt wants a further 4 signings this window to go with the 2 already on board
Says he will bring 2 youngsters on loan. [rumour both came in yesterday] and 2 on contracts with one a forward that will turn heads if he can get it over the line. Obviously looking with one eye on next season

These next two games could potentially be the biggest in the clubs history, lose them both and we're in big trouble.

These are both monumental games yet our team won't be up for them whatsoever and they will crumble the minute Barrow get slightly on top.

Are you lot under an embargo? All this deregistering to register other players sounds like you're working within the 23 limit that we were working with when operating with an embargo

No every club is under it, you can only have 22 players over 21 registered for the league squad so if you sign someone and are full you have to de register making them ineligible for the league games.

Next year I think the squad cap drops further to 20!

Grimsby v Southend is a massive game for those two clubs.

Southend ~~ 13 points from last 6 games.

What caused that?
Playing Grimsby and Scunthorpe at home in those 6 games certainly helped them.
