Both sides lucky to get nil in E10. Godawful long ball shite from us and godawful long ball shite from them. If someone held a gun to my head I’d say Walsall probably shaded it, but I’d rather they pulled the trigger than making me watch a re-run.

Back in, pleaded in the end and last weeks now a distant memory, it was crucial we bounced back today.

First half was boring, not going to say either side was poor as both sides played some good stuff but neither created a thing.

Was the only way a goal would be scored and a long range free kick went through Covolan hands into the net. Really should be saving that and he’s had two or three long rangers that seem to go through him in recent games.

The difference to this season from last is the sheer quality we have in reserve and a huge reason for some optimism.

On comes Politic and Benning and they change the game, Politic is different gravy and can see why Bolton fans rave about him.

Great through ball looks to have over run it but pokes it past the keeper and slots in from a tight angle.

That got a flat crowd going and Worrall robbed their man cuts inside moments later and drills a ball across the face which Jones turns into his own net.

We then sat back a bit but were fairly comfortable and Benning finished a decent performance with a thunderbolt off the post which came back to him and he finished the rebound well.

Decent second half after a sluggish first half which probably was understandable after a set back last time out.

6 wins in 7, 7 wins in 9, need to keep the run going.

Sounds like Crawley were outfought and out thought by Sutton today. Stuck at work myself so no real comment from myself but big strong teams always seem to beat us. Maybe we are just too small?

Football, you win some lose some but the scum who was chanting racist abuse from the home terrace needs to disappear sharpish. Just go away. The club has asked for information to catch the "person/people" (sic) involved. Punishment should involve a trip to the Sutton dressing room for a 'chat'.

Shame it does seem the case in general more people seem to feel emboldened to act in that way as we saw ourselves a couple of weeks ago. Just got to hope the club can identify and ban them.

Worst I have seen pools play this season today, reminded me of the dark days under Dave Jones. Offered nothing at all going forward and gave the ball away far too easily. Salford’s number 9 and number 37 caused us serious problems all day. Not looking forward to Bradford on Tuesday night now.

That doesn’t sound very optimistic. That sounds a bit glass half empty poolie.

Lots of issues surrounding the start of the game as one of our fans has put a padlock on our main gates as a protest against our chairman
So that was reason why FGR Supporter's coach dropped their passengers off at gate.
Apparently there was a bit of banter going on but I never heard anything.
I said I wish the club well which seemed to be appreciated by some of the protestors.

The run was interrupted by a four year spell in the National League, but our away form over the last full season's worth of away games in League 2 makes for gruesome reading.

23 games, 1 win, 4 draws, 18 defeats. 7 points from a possible 69.

That's 0-1-5 this season to add to 1-3-13 in our last 17 away games of 2016/17 (after which, unsurprisingly, we were relegated)

There was a co-ordinated effort where two people grabbed the gate to shut it while another padlocked it and attached a "Swann out" flag, he wasn't even at the game today so not really sure of the idea behind it

I thought it was another good performance from us today and a fairly comfortable victory in the end.

Carlisle started the game brightly, with the expected post-sacking bounce, and the first twenty minutes were end to end. However, our midfield gradually got control and I thought we were the dominant side from about thirty minutes onwards. I thought the performance merited a victory by a bigger margin, and we were a bit unfortunate not to score more than once, with Foley's disallowed effort and the missed penalty.

All of that said, Ross Doohan produced an outstanding save from close range just after we had scored.

It is an achievement for Mellon to get us into our current position without a recognised striker, but our back four looks very good at the moment, and the midfield is not too shabby either.

The two worst teams in the football league are now in their rightful places.

Skelton proved today that he’s just more of the same as beech. We’d 100% go down if Beech or Skelton were in charge till May. We have to get this next manager appointment right.

We need a new experienced manager very quickly and Skelton needs to be booted out of the club for good and never considered as another number 2 like he was under Pressley and Beech which was a fail.

New manager needs to be allowed to bring his own people in.

Our club is so fucking tinpot it's embarrassing, all of the board and fucking old man 'Carlisle would make a nice little non league club' Jenkins need to fuck off for good and be replaced by better people with money and vision.

Fucking Morecambe, Accrington, Harrogate, Sutton and even Barrow are all run far better than our joke of a club.

Tbf to Andy Proctor, BogDaddyO has been a massive weirdo baby and seems to hate Port Vale and Burslem all because his team got beat the other week. He’s ignored all the decent Vale fans in favour of a couple of shitty incidents because he’s not over a defeat :err:

You can add 90% of the other football league clubs to that list.

Forest Green's penalty was as soft as you'll see. I suppose that's how it goes when you're bottom of the league.

Same referee we were seething about last week wasn’t it as well? He’s awful.

We were nothing short of a disgrace today. Almost half the crowd we had and they're not getting what they deserve. Work rate was poor, no confidence, really bad strikers, unsure defence. And what in the hell system were we playing? Ogle as winger? Fucking hell never again please.

Gotta be careful this doesn't start affecting home form 'cos if it does, we could be in for a tough time.
What a bizarre team selection that was today.
Fortunatley I didn’t go & the only thing that made me smile while listening to the commentary was him saying Fondlop had a touch like a sledgehammer.

Reasons to be cheerful...
Dare us vale fans dream??
Gillingham at home is enough to make anyone moist.
Imagine the scenes.
Conlon though, great as he is, and he definitely can be, is infuriating, properly slows us down, pissing about when a quick pass would be better.
Lots of good performances second half, and I thought barrow were a half decent team.

Credit due to the Barrow following too. Bigger in numbers than many of the supposedly established league teams and way more than some of the pathetic non league team followings we've seen. Saw a few around in the pubs too with no issues, enjoying an old fashioned away day with pubs and a stroll to the ground.

Dunno what that team selection was, no idea what he was thinking, as for our strike force, they must be the most miserable bunch of strikers we've ever had on our books, all of them are fucking useless, I'd send Goodwin back tomorrow and as for Fondop, he is truly the worst striker I've laid eyes on at Pools, Marcus Richardson bad.

Good to see we’re not the only club in Lincolnshire that Declan Bourne has shafted.

Jake Cassidy was still worse.

Bottom line is you can't sign a load of non league forwards and expect them to make any impact in L2.

The fact that Molyneux is the first name on the teamsheet up top in his least effective position says it all.

January can't come quick enough.

That was fucking shameful by the ref and Forest Green.

We put up a really good fight but the game was changed by a terrible penalty decision. How Jamille Matt and their number 18 stayed on the pitch is beyond me, we will now be missing our captain cause he was elbowedd in the eye and we didn't even get a free kick for it.

I hope for FGR fans sake they don't play like that every week as it was fucking tiring. The constant diving, surrounding and berating the referee and the pushing opposition players off the ball. It was just so awful to watch.

No change there then from an always horrible cheating FGR. I thought that now the awful Cooper had left they might be different. Suppose I will find out in a couple of weeks when they come to our place

Honestly Soup, I’m not so sure, Cassidy was shite but at least he tried, Fondop is absolute dross, why isn’t Cullen starting? Is he that bad or that unfit that two months into the season he still can’t get a game?

If JJ Hooper is still around (I think he is) I’d be writing him out a contract today, really can’t be any worse than this lot we have now.

On a side note has anyone heard from the Crewe Alex fan who was a regular on here on a Saturday evening to discuss Vale? He’s been missing for months now!

Personally think it's the other way round, Fondop tries to put himself about whereas Cassidy coildnt even be arsed to challenge for the ball.

JJ Hooper won't solve anything, another mediocre pub league forward won't help.

Cullen is an odd one. Boyd on ifollow was, let's just say, not taking a neutral stance on all the forwards but he's right in saying he's the only one with any pedigree so why isn't he getting a chance? He scored 6 in a friendly a while back and still didn't get a sniff.

Scunthorpe v FGR: niggly game but nowhere deserved of 10 cards.
FGR goalkeeper Luke McGee rightly won MoM for his team. Two terrific saves near start of game and a one-handed wonder save during 2nd half.
1st half was even with perhaps Scunthorpe slightly inching it as better team.
2nd half penalty altered game with FGR then getting on top except for an extraordinary five minutes when Scunthorpe won a succession of corners.
Disagree with Scunthorpe poster who claimed FGR players went down easily. I don't think the FGR physio was called upon during match.
In fact it was the Scunthorpe players (especially their no 23) who regularly fell over when nobody near them. There was 8 minutes added at end of game.

One amusing incident during game: Scunthorpe player went down injured in FGR penalty box area as his team won a corner. As the Scunthorpe physio attended him another nearby Scunthorpe player 'fell down' so the 2nd physio checked him out.
The 2nd player was mortified that the referee also ordered him to stand near half-way line when game restarted. So for that corner Scunthorpe only had nine players on pitch and it was easily dealt with by FGR.

Fondop puts effort in, but it's often misplaced. He seems to like dropping deep and picking the ball up with his back to goal. Unfortunately, as Dave Challinor said post-match, when he tries to control the ball in those situations it usually ends up with the opposition in position (or as it was suggested less kindly on Tees... he has the touch of a sledgehammer). Seriously, if the ball's going to bounce off you then at least get yourself into the box and facing the right way! It's pretty damning when the best thing you can say about a new forward after a few games is that he's quite useful when you're defending corners.

Richardson, while limited, was the superior player on what we've seen so far, though we were rarely in the position of relying on him to be our main man. We had a much better side with a far bigger goal threat.

Cassidy was indescribably bad, and committed the cardinal sin in the eyes of the supporters, in that he seemed to not give a single fuck. Useless and lazy, the National League was a level too high for him.

Had family round so missed most of the game. Had half an eye on it during the first half and we got absolutely battered Bradford, it was embarrassing how poor we were. Probably the worst I’ve ever seen us.

Came back on the 70th minute with no real idea what happened and we’re 2-1 down but very much on the front foot for the entire 20.

Our fans saying we stole a point there, I can’t argue with the majority who actually saw it - but Bradford got what was coming, we were pushing and looking dangerous and they just sat back inviting us forward - it was only a matter of time, from my eyes anyway. Then we nearly won it in the 93rd minute from a corner, Christ imagine the scenes.

I’ll take the point, and would have before the game. But I’m not sure how to feel about it, in one sense it’s great to play poor and get a point away from home, on the side it’s disappointing that we’re only playing 1 good game and then we’re crap for the other 3.
