As I said, I’m not keen on his style. I find it pedestrian and produces little excitement.

I’m probably being a bit OTT seeing as we’re close to the autos and got Man City in the Cup.

Colchester was the piss pot trophy

The thing is, even if our game this evening is still on, I know from experience getting Covid that you’re all fine the night before, then you wake up the next morning and you know straight away something isn’t right - something feels different and within a few hours it hits hard.

So I wouldn’t be shocked to arrive in Liverpool at 11.30 tomorrow only to find it’s a wasted trip.

having said that - neither ourselves or Tranmere have done any previews or manager press conferences.
We tend to do our previews/press conferences mid to late afternoon the day before home games and there is one with Micky Mellon now on Youtube . Hope the games is on for your sake mate. I know from bitter experience what it`s like to travel half the length of the country to get there to find the game is off.

Exactly...we are unbeaten in nine games...so hardly a team that would need, or welcome, a break in playing. We already had one game in hand, this will potentially take it up to three...not sure if our game on Boxing Day will go ahead either, if players have to isolate for ten days, that must be in doubt. Clearly, we aren't the only club facing a potential backlog of fixtures...could make the last couple of months of the season interesting.

To be fair, the game on Tuesday night was the original game in hand anyway so that doesn't change anything,

Surely matches postponed now is a good thing for us. Our team can’t get much worse, so the more games pushed forward to January onwards where by then we can at least attempt to put together a half competent squad, the better.
Fair... Bradford will quake before the goalscoring prowess of [insert injury-prone free-agent/17 year old Championship loanee] here

Well they would have hardly been quaking at the prospect of facing Abrahams and Fishburn and our other shirt striker options. They would have beaten us tomorrow. Maybe we’ll still be as shit by the time rearranged game comes round, but at least we have the opportunity between now and then to at least try to be better.

I'm not against this 14-player rule but it must be an advantage for home teams if they need to call in replacements on the day. We'll presumably travel to Rochdale Friday.

Strangely enough Cooper has told us the latter is to be expected. He's always stated there's no point bringing in a free agent that is unfit. You'd be much better off bringing in an U23 player that at least is match fit and hoping to prove themselves.

Yep, we did a mix of both, two U23 forwards on loan to mixed success and then signed two free agents after the season had started, one has played 60 minutes and has been out injured for about 6 weeks the other is Mike Fondop.

We just have a poor poor record with under 23 loan players in recent years. And that makes the thought of our slim survival hopes resting on bringing more in, very scary.

Wonder what this likely circuit breaker will mean for crowds… guessing after Boxing Day (if any games go ahead) that will be it for a few weeks which would be a blow for the likes of Swindon v Man City for instance.

"Slim survival hopes"

You're not even in the relegation zone and you have two crisis clubs below you.

We’ve only named 4 on the bench against Tranmere. Mix of covid, injury and suspensions apparently.

Whereas we’re only missing Sam Foley from the Exeter game, don’t know if injury or illness. The Os have both Smith and Drinan starting, so still a tough opponent. Bloody cold day too.

At least you have given it a go...an approach that clubs towards the top of the pyramid, with far greater resources in terms of players than clubs in our division, could take a lesson from.

Great start for Rochdale. Keep it going lads. Beesley gave us all sorts of trouble when we played them earlier this season.

If the Sutton and Tranmere games stay 0-0 then that will be ideal also.

Orient had much the better of the first half. The officials made some strange calls.

We're 16th now. What a dreadfully boring position to be in. Not even the excitement of a proper relegation scrap. The BBC4 of fucking clubs: fucking boring.

A good performance and effort from the team we put out, should really have taken a draw - Smith and Drinan must do better with those two Late chances.

Ten players out injured or with Covid - looks like we wanted the game off but a lot of our youngsters have played first team games so count towards players that can play.

Had a youngster left back at right wing back and a youngster in central midfield starting in the league for the first time. We miss Omar Beckles presence in the team too.

Tranmere I thought were average, but ultimately had a lot more experience to get the goal and see the win out.

Good strike from Spearing to win the game.

Solid if unspectacular home win for Sutton today. Happy to see Donovan Wilson net the only goal, his confidence has seemed shaky at times this season.

3rd in the table at Christmas. Whilst it won’t last, it’s a beautiful sight.

I thought we deserved the victory overall. Orient controlled possession for long periods, particularly in the first half, but did not do much with it until the last ten minutes. By contrast, we had three or four good chances in addition to the goal, with the excellent Josh Hawkes forcing a couple of good saves from Vigoroux.

We played better, more incisive football at Exeter last week, although we were decent in spells today. However, with the defensive partnership of Clarke and Davies restored, we are very difficult to break down once we are ahead in a game.

We are now one point off the automatic places with a game in hand, which is an excellent performance by Mellon, considering some of the squad issues we have had this season. Just typical that the season is now likely to be suspended.

I felt Rovers were lucky to be level at h/t though Orient didn’t convert their greater possession into goal attempts. We were better second half and after a great volley from Spearing put us in front, a nervy last ten minutes featured a great save from Doohan and a waste of some good chances from the Os.
Grateful for the win but couldn’t complain had the spoils been shared.

One last push to get us into the auto spots and go up on PPG when the season is cancelled to restore my faith in the EFL

Micky said that Sam Foley missed the game because of illness. Thankfully not covid bit a stomach bug. There is lot of gastroenteritis on the Wirral right now (a girl at work and her entire family have it) so it’s probably that.

Looks like our home game with Bradford has been rearranged for 8th January which would have been FA Cup 3rd round day.
