Port Vale, as far as I can tell, have also restricted their capacity to 9,999... they just haven't made it official... but if they sell 9,999 tickets for a game then they can't sell any further tickets without having to make further restrictions.
Without bothering to read the other posts so I'm unsure if it's been answered; have they cancelled pay on the day, then? Otherwise your previous posts also applies. What if they sell 9,000 tickets so haven't checked anyone's private medical history (or is this now a requirement to purchasing tickets prior to the game, even though it's irrelevant if 10,000 people don't turn up?) and then 2,000 turn up on the day to pay? Are those with pre-booked tickets then checked if they haven't been already, if they've had a medical procedure? Seems an extremely odd way of doing it. It surely must go on capacity and not attendance, and it surely needs to be properly announced and officiated.

If the idea is to then cancel all pay on the day attendees then this'll harm mightily lower league clubs.

Wonder how many will go ahead? I’ll plump for 7

On a very selfish level I sincerely hope Sutton v Harrogate goes ahead as a) I had to isolate and thus miss the Newport and Bradford games and b) I’ve already paid for my train tickets.

When everyone else was calling off games in March 2020, our home game against Hartlepool went ahead. 1-1 draw in the strangest atmosphere I’ve experienced at a Football match.

Shame, I was all set to go but I doubt I'll go on a Tuesday night now.
But that might be the least of our worries over the next few weeks

I guess this will likely mean Salford on Boxing Day is cancelled too. I know this isn’t the way to look at it but pushing them back to January isn’t the worst thing in the world for our squad right now.

It’s ideal from a footballing point of view as likely two less games with no forwards so not totally gutted. This does mean though teams cancelling today/tomorrow won’t have the players back Boxing Day so can write that round off.

not ideal to have no training but im sure it counted the day i tested as a day of quarantine for me. so they wouldd be out of isolation on boxing day
plus, it may be that they actually took the test yesterday and only got the results today I suppose

i don't really know the rules on close contact stuff now but anyone who is not vaccinated may have to isolate too so could end up with half the squad not training for 10 days but having to play on boxing day in that case

Not sure. Yesterday the news announced if you tested positive today you were isolating Xmas Day.

It all came about quickly it felt, an hour before they put up the pre match interviews where DC was on about needing to get on with living with the virus and the mental health aspect and not closing stadiums…

Then they announced the two players wouldn’t be at the late night shop opening tonight due to new Covid protocols and then it’s off an hour later.

I am guessing in that case the results must have come through tonight.

It’s perfect timing from a football point of view for us but more importantly hope the lads are all ok and recover well.

another league defeat. A break might do you guys a bit of good
You lot should know more about that than us. Game in hand takes us into the autos. Terrible position to be in.

I’m not keen on his football but, fair play, he’s played a bad hand fairly well.

Why are you lot so obsessed with ex managers and ex players?

Interestingly I’ve read the Premier League have been informed their would be support from clubs to shut down the season until the FA Cup weekend so interesting to see what happens there… assume if so the EFL would possibly follow suit.

At this level though, some of the best attended fixtures are on Boxing Day and New Year, so quite a financial hit for clubs to forego that. Doesn’t mean it won’t happen though.

Yes, a big difference between the Premier League where income from match attendance is irrelevant, and Leagues One and Two. As an example, if our game on Saturday was postponed we would not play at home for over a month, which would be a massive financial strain.

Paul Scally, Gillingham, said on the radio this morning that attendances were 25-30% of their income, although I assume that that is over the season and includes the pre-paid season tickets?

I think finish it today on PPG.
I would have agreed with this 8 games ago when we were 4 points clear in the National League but I’ve had a bit of a change of heart now.
Maybe if the season can’t finish properly then only one team should be relegated from League 2 and then for promotion to League 2 just promote one of the two relegated teams from last year, the fairest way being to promote the one that’s currently highest of the two in the National League.
Merry Christmas. :D

I think Saturday was an ideal time to try and put our mini poor run to bed. I guess we won't have a game for a while now, I wouldn't imagine the Exeter game would be on either?

The main issue I guess is if 30% of squads on average are not vaccinated even a single case or two rules 6 or 7 out from the offset as they have to isolate as contacts?

Our game postponed, too.

Ramp up scaremongering and increase PCR cycles and this is what the result is.

Perpetual cycle.
