Piss off Oxford! Should give us the three points if they can’t field a team. Been three weeks since our last Saturday home game and now we have to wait another three weeks. University c***.

Does seem unfair on you.
I remember derby having to play all the kids at Chorley in the fa cup due to covid. It was not postponed.

Didn’t Oxford get all shirty when one of their games was called off last season in similar circumstances - Crewe, maybe.

Won’t hear a thing from them now. 7 cases, too. How on earth did they leave it so late.

I’m sure Fat Robbo was banging on about how they should be given the points.

Team stayed in hotel up north overnight and seven players felt unwell this morning, so took tests and tested positive. Not sure what more we could have done? Suppose both keepers were affected, would you expect us to play without any?

We've been on the receiving end of this plenty of times and this is the first time it's been us with Covid. Makes me wonder whether they picked it up in the hotel, as we are so hot on this at the club?

If seven are unwell, my first thought is I hope they're going to be OK, and my second thought is for those Oxford fans who got a lot further toward Wigan than I did, my third thought is for Wigan fans inconvenienced, apart from wankers calling us University c***.

No. Crewe turned up knowing they had infected players!!! Which I think is far worse.

Honestly can’t see 7 players who were OK and, presumably, tested and negative before leaving for Wigan catching it overnight.

So that’s your games off for the next 10 days?

Sounds a bit dodgy to me.

Fair enough if 7 players tested positive BEFORE travelling up, call it off.

If 1 of those who travelled up tests positive on a required test on Friday night, cancel it as they’ve all been on a coach together.

All 7 of those suddenly feeling unwell overnight? Not all COVID tests have symptoms. Sounds like food poisoning or something similar to me…

Why does it sound dodgy? Are you really saying we would have travelled up with infected players, stayed overnight, and then called it off?

Get a grip man!!! Surprised you didn't claim it as time wasting.

I think our protocols, and squad size, are such that we'll be able to play our next two games, albeit with weakened line ups.

But surely, apart from the 7 positive cases there must be loads who’ve been in close contact. Presume you took an 18 man squad up on the coach plus staff.

You can understand people being a bit wary. If you’d announced on, say, Thursday you had 7 positives you’d have had to still play with whatever players you could cobble together.

You can get 7-1 against Cambridge winning at Rotherham; Rotherham are definitely strong favourites, but 7-1 sounds a tad generous to me...? Might have a small punt on that.

This is what Robinson said when we called off our game with Oxford the day before it was due to be played.

‘But Robinson felt the game could have gone ahead, so believes his side should have the points.

He said: “I’m refusing to accept the date from the EFL, they know that.

“I didn’t agree with the comment that we were waiting for a date.

“Why should there be a date? You had a date, it was Saturday and you couldn’t play it.

“Anything I say is borne out of pure frustration really. I just hope at some stage it gets resolved properly.

“That goes for us if we did it. We would deserve a points deduction and the other team should have the points.”

No, I’m saying that you may have travelled up unknowingly with infected players, with no symptoms. COVID can take time before showing symptoms. These should be tested Friday though. How 7 can suddenly show symptoms at the same time is unfortunate…

Assuming you’ve got enough uninjured players that didn’t go up, then EFL may let you play next games but reckon they’ll make you cancel them if it is COVID.

Or the cynic may say they went up with infected players as it can then be called off. If you declare yesterday they are infected they may have still requested the game goes ahead - which means fringe and youth players ( like derby did ) which could mean defeat.
this is the least worst option.

I wouldn’t worry with the amount of injuries we have we will be playing our youth team mainly
Bridcutt not even in the squad in the end. Scully is back but Maguire out. Four U18's on the bench.

EDIT - Maguire is there, missed him!

Sometimes it is better to say nothing at all then say something stupid, Robinson has really fucked up with his comments.

Oxford played 120 mins midweek, got a few injuries and clearly didn't fancy it today.

Scientists all over the world have repeatedly said it takes several days of being infected before symptoms show. That means you would need to have been infected Tue/Wed at the latest. Allegedly tests were carried out on Thur and Fri and all negative. Which means every single test for the entire squad 2 days running were broken and gave false negatives. Absolute nonsense. If 7 players all had symptoms today they had to have been positive on those days had tests been carried out.

Also 2 of the 7 tested negative at 9am then felt unwell and positive at 11am. Absolutely taking the piss.

Also has someone pointed out the main excuse was their available keeper being too young for a second vaccine. People of his age group were according to government dates had their second jab in September time. So that is also bullshit.

Strange how not one Bristol Rovers player has tested positive after Tuesday.

Absolutely zero chance 7 players can test negative before travelling and then all positive on arrival. As said above it’s not scientifically possible.

Defensively I think this type of line up is what we have been crying out for most of the season. A cb at right back to build a solid base. And then John can bomb forward. After 120 mins midweek I think we will tire and ultimately lose but as a basis for going forward I think this will get us more consistent results

Some of you probably think Elvis is still alive, your conspiracy theories are so out there.

Why the fuck would we lie about carrying out Covid tests Thursday and Friday? Why the fuck would we travel, stay overnight, risk infecting a hotel full of people, and pay for the privilege if we knew we had several positive tests? The tests are recorded, it's all there to be checked. Why would we knowingly inconvenience all of our fans who had already travelled if we knew on Friday or Thursday?

FFS, I know a lot of you don't like Karl and/or us, but you really are sounding desperate and ridiculous.

PS: And Dan, you didn't have any players infected, it was your goalkeeping coach and other backroom staff, completely different situation.

I wasn’t implying you were lying, but you either didn’t test them properly before travelling, didn’t test at all or have had 7 false positives. The latter also being extremely unlikely.

I can understand frustration but transmission is very low outside and the players don’t mix inside - it’s unlikely Bristol Rovers players would be infected from an Oxford player when playing them.

Absolute horseshit being spouted there. And on the keeper situation we tried to get an emergency loan in but couldn't get one there in time (had one organised from a London club as that was the only one we could get at no notice).

We’ve somehow contrived to lose 2-0 at Crewe (unless they score another in injury time)

Is any of this down to the speculation over Evans? Would you be happy to see him go?

It’s probably partly speculation but going in to the game we only had about 8 fit senior players, having to patch the squad up with the youth team. I wouldn’t be greatly fussed if he did leave (I think he’s intimated he’s going at the end of his contract in the summer anyway), but I do think we’re much more likely to be relegated without him.

A 'goal of the season ' winner from Morecambe in the 4th minute of extra time, and they deserved it

A thoroughly wretched, dispirited performance from the home side, no spark no drive, miserable and utterly forgettable. Cant see a way out of this slump at the moment, away games coming up against Yellows and Wombles. Big call to make for the Chairman if this form continues, Grayson has been there done it and bought the tee shirt but relegation will be a massive financial blow to the club. Still a lot to play for and we are not dead and buried but boy do we need to find 3 points from somewhere
