Zero shots on target, always thought teams that pull of that trick deserve to win:)

I thought their antics were awful tbf, Wilsden. One of the reasons I've always preferred MK Dons as a club.

The disallowed goal thing was piss poor, but today was somewhat reminiscent of defeats against the top teams last season. Good start, missed chances, sucker punch on the break and gradually ever more desperate and less controlled efforts to get back into the game.

Gills smothered our better players very well, but others have then got to step up and use the space. Grant, Abbot and even Palmer offered very little and our subs generally offered even less.

Did Richards pick up an injury? Or was it a poor sub?
His 1st start for a while. Alexander said;
“Lewis came off holding his hamstring but he got a knee in the back of his leg as well.

“With where we are at the moment with players, certainly defenders, we didn’t want to risk it any further.

“Fingers crossed, it’s not the muscle and more of a dead leg.

Didn’t see our game as had been at the West Ham v Chelsea game today but sounds like we were rather fortunate to get a draw but a point it is nonetheless. Just goes to show you can’t take any team in this league as a given for winning against them.
Terrible first half, more solid in the second without creating anything in terms of chances, until Hackford came on and we had a runner which freed Stockley up.

Stanley their usual selves, dark arts etc, Stockley had his shirt with a V neck going down to his belly! And ridiculous time wasting. Very physical but liked the look of Batty for them though.

Stockley scores on 89 minutes and you could sense their confidence go and the nervousness, it was ironically like us V Fleetwood last season (Stockley involved them too!)

Some poor performers today, Cover, BBB and Ben notably but every ball in the box seemed to cause mass problems first half, partly due to the wind but to concede the second especially was criminal, unmarked free header from a corner which we shouldn’t have conceded but Ripley rushed a throw in which came back and had to be cleared for the corner.

If there had been another 5 minutes we probably win it, frustrating we left ourselves so much to do.

Game panned out exactly as I thought it would. Accrington were agricultural (,and that's being kind) , but we turned up expecting to just turn them over. I knew that's what we would do.

They got away with a lot of robust and late challenges ,including actually tearing the shirt of Stockley. But that first half we just couldn't cope with their physicality. Yes, the wind made a difference, as they couldn't get out at times.

The starting team was just wrong for the opposition, in spite of the fact that we had won the last 2, we needed to do a bit of due diligence on the opposition. We looked I'll prepared.

Accrington tactics were like that of a non league club in the cup. Up and at em and over zealous. Poorest team we've played, comfortably, but we probably played better against Barrow and lost 4-0

Really dug deep today and weathered a late Bromley equaliser onslaught to get a fairly raggy 1-0 win over Bromley. Having said that though, we once again put together some nice passages of play and looked threatening coming forward.

I've been critical of Khouri's support in the past as I've never really been hugely impressed with him despite unwavering bucket loads of praise coming from a lot of Town fans, and while I've been coming round to their way of thinking a bit more this season I still think there have been plenty of times he's looked a bit naive and out of his depth. Today though, he was excellent. Both tenacious and tidy, he gave as good as he got from a Bromley midfield and attack that as you'd expect were Bromleying.

Very encouraging that we continue to try and play the way we've set out to all season and we can beat a side like Bromley, as I've got my doubts about our ability grind it out these sort of wins and performances. We certainly weren't at our best and while I think we're technically better than Bromley, they are a tough team to play against and are better than us physically and today's match could well have gone either way.

Did Woodman refuse ro shake Artell's hand too?

I thought they were as a expected very well organised and once in the lead defended well but they didn't handle Crowley and especially Jones very well. Jones was best player on the pitch. Agree other three midfielders were average.

Goal shouldn't be disallowed and very often isn't but those two sitters missed were the difference between a win and a loss.

Still that's football, shit happens, overall was a good game between two good sides.

I disagree massively, last season we wouldn’t have created enough to miss 5 chances from 6 yards out, we’d have just passed the ball around for 90 minutes and not caused them any trouble…then given the ball away in our own third which we didn’t do at all I don’t think.

It was an odd game. I thought we were a bit below par and I was impressed by Gillingham’s organisation, but at the same time with the run of the ball in front of goal and a bit of luck with decisions there we could easily have won 4-1. A bit like the Grimsby game but in reverse.

A poor game between two really poor sides.

The win was the main thing though. Work to do for Mike Williamson on the training ground to get these lot playing with some sort of cohesion and style.

Need to see some improvement if we are to win any of the upcoming home games.

Very happy to actually have the winning feeling on Saturday for a change.

Jones on crutches it looks like, desperately disappointing the amount of bad tackles he’s been subjected to over the first 7 games. I’m not sure any have been blatant reds or anything but feels like refs have to be aware when a team is targeting a certain player

They just aren't, they never have been. Different ref each time and very similar outcomes each game and very little action. Agree none have been reds or close but talented flair players who can really hurt you are always targeted. Since he's been at Notts Jones has had something left on him in tackles so so often. Why wouldn't a manager instruct their players to leave something on him, make him know you are there, make contact? The clever ones just rotate the players doing it.

Stats are odd. Does a disallowed goal not count as on target. I guess hotting both posts doesn't but surely a disallowed goal should
Nah. Doesn't matter what it's pulled back for, the play is dead, so anything like shots won't count. Seems pretty straightforward to me.

He's been cynically targeted all season. No leg breakers but leave enough on him to hobble him.

Disappointing result and we missed Jatta's pace, power and height today. Tsaroulla has to put one of his two golden chances away at 0-0.
I'd have to see it back but the lateness of the flag for the disallowed goal was disgraceful. He's not waiting for VAR, so what the fuck was he waiting for. I suspect the ref made the call and he's nodding donkeyed his flag up.
Gillingham looked a strong outfit to me. Broke with pace, defended stoutly, kept their shape under pressure and basically had the perfect smash and grab away win.
I'm pretty sure they're going up this season if that's a weakened team.

Delicious sweet tears. This Notts County meltdown is nearing Chesterfield levels. 'Could have easily won 4-1', brilliant :fl: :fl: :fl: :fl:

How were we really poor? What defines our 2-0 win today as poor??

It was a good away win ffs. We defended well, took our chances and showed spirit.

Today was so, so frustrating. Probably the 4th time I’ve said that this season, when considering we’ve only played 7 games is bloody impressive… :ffs: Saw the Cheltenham gaffer called it an ‘unbelievable’ point for them, and tbh I think that’s an understatement in the balance of play.

90% of what we’re doing currently has been excellent to say we’re new to the division. We’ve dominated 6 out of the 7 games, we’re scoring in virtually every game….But at the moment somethings just not happening for us to get over the line in some of these games. It’s actually criminal that form the 7 games we only have 2 wins. Absolute carbon copy of the Swindon and Salford home games that one today. Never looked in any danger of conceding at any point, should have been 2/3 up by the time their one and only chance came, and just like that it’s 1-1. The goal conceded today was the worst of the lot mind, the most basic ridiculous goal to concede out of absolutely nothing other than a long hopefully punted clearance upfield from our own throw deep in Cheltenhams half… wtf is Boot doing all that way out, just leave Gordon to deal with it ffs. I’ll let him off because he’s been excellent, but that was a moment of madness from him.

It’s so annoying because in general our defending has been miles better than last year, which was always going to be case with the improvements we made to it over the summer, and we haven’t conceded more than 1 goal in any game… but at the moment these one off lapses are costing us. Alongside us not being as clinical as we should be at the other end too mind… Dobra’s sitter today blew my mind, he’s normally slotting that with his eyes closed.

Anyway the positives…. Our goal was brilliant play from Berry, great run into the box going past 2/3 Cheltenham players and then laying on a plate for Markanday. Fleck was on the bench for the first time, so he’s one step closer. Colclough returned, and he looked as sharp as ever. Firmly believe he is our best player when he’s fit and flying, he is absolutely impossible to defend against one on one. Madden also made his debut after the calf injury he picked up in pre season, and despite only playing for 10 minutes I thought he showed some good moments, glad to have him back available. Thought Dobra was unplayable, but I just can’t get that miss out my mind after Colcloughs put it on a plate for him.

I’m still very confident in this team though. As I say, just not happening for us at the moment, but we’re only going to get stronger now that bodies are coming back… roll on the Donny (A) next week backed by 3,000 + blues

I mean, we could? We missed three absolute sitters inside the six yard box (the third being a fantastic last ditch block on the line to be fair) and had a goal very dubiously disallowed.

I thought you played well and it’s a great away win/performance, but it’s a proper flying by the seat of your pants one. Which, to be fair, are the best kinds of win.

But is it? Is it really?

I was rightly complimentary to the opposition and your performance but you will have to be deluded or simply didn't see the game to think that you weren't fortunate today. :ohy:

Not enough to win as a football fan is it - the other team have to be RATTLED and their best player has to have been POCKETED or it doesn’t count.

That offside decision is worse than I expected haha. I had a terrible view so was more annoyed the lino inexplicably changed his mind and assumed it was contentious but he’s got a very clear unobstructed view of Brown and not sure how he’s been able to get that one wrong.

I don't think he did, I think the ref gave it and he's flagged in agreement. It's the only explanation for taking so long. When we scored I looked to the linesman to be sure and no flag was up.
I've ran the line at pub and youth level and when it's an offside goal you instinctively put your flag up, you don't wait an age, ridiculous.

Yeah it was a good win, as is any win.

But anyone with any dose of football intelligence would see it for what it was, a poor quality league 2 game between 2 poor teams. Littered with errors and cock ups at both ends of the pitch. Thankfully none of ours got punished. The win was the main thing, Rome wasn’t build in one day was it.

It can still be a good win even if it was poor. That’s something you’ll learn some day kid.
