We've picked up some form again now it's too late, 3 wins a draw and a defeat which was against Stockport in the last five.
Should be a decent enough game as we'll be relaxed and knocking around and you may well be freed from two seasons of torture and give it a go too.

Being serious then, has the recent run of form changed/improved thoughts on maynard?

I said he needed to go after the Swindon game because I didn't think he could pull it round after so many bad results but since then we put Ashby Hammond back in goal and have done a lot better.
We aren't playing a great deal differently to Luke Williams and we never looked a disorganised mess who've given up under him, just low on confidence at times with some mega errors thrown in at bad times in games.
I want him to succeed, I prefer him to Burchnall who I never warmed to and he's shown grit after a torrid start.
We need the summer break to get a few in and a few out, hopefully not our best three and learn from this season.
I don't think he's going to be serially successful like Dave Challinor but I think he may be able to incrementally improve us as Clough has done and as we're pretty well resourced get us up in the end. He'll need a good start next season though, I think he's a used up most of the goodwill he's going to get from within the club.

Don't see Stockport as rivals, because they aren't.

Couldn't care less about the title. Promotion was the aim and we managed it first time of asking.

Do think we should give the league winners a guard of honour, given we got one last season and Stockport have performed brilliantly this season.

Don't forget the owners spending their precious time doing FIFA commentary going on about us

Clearly hurting. And time won't have healed those wounds.
You aren't the only ones they talk about on there.....I wonder how much they got paid for that :£

Only a one way rivalry though according to them.

You've been able to smell the boiled piss from North Wales for 2 years.

It's a massive game for them Saturday whereas it's just a celebration for us. Wouldn't surprise me at all if we put the kids out.
Haha! Ouch!!

I fall somewhere in the middle, I don't like Stockport, but it's a healthy and not recent.....Remember the 2-3 at Edgeley when Ashton scored 2 pens and got sent off? Since then :)

I'm glad Stockport are up to and we can continue a competitive 'rivalry' it would have been nice to win the title, but honestly, I would have snapped your hand off for third at the start of the season and at any point since....Hope to beat you because the 5-0 was horrendous and we need to redeem ourselves.

I'll be supporting Crawley on the final day.

Nothing against Barrow, I'm happy for them getting up into the football league but don't think I can take the idea of them being in the division above us.

Nothing against Bradford but they have some unbearable fans on social media who have been kicking about our socials all year, last thing we want is a full year of smug Yorkshire bastards cramming our comments sections.

I do want to see barrow make the playoffs so wouldn’t be overly bothered if we lost but clough doesn’t appear to be the same, barrow are probably going to come and attack us at some stage which might not end well for them.

As for colchester and crewe, if, after 45 games they were to draw 0-0 and chill have they not earned the right to do that? both are getting what they want/need.

Not saying they will

It would be hilarious if either Crewe missed out on the playoffs or Colchester got relegated, the former preferable as it would mean we'd won, where they really should be sat in the centre circle with a crate of beers putting the world to rights.

We shouldn't be playing for a draw. We should be trying to win the game, because the moment we settle for a draw is the moment we open the door for Colchester to pinch it and we can't rely on Grimsby and Mansfield to do us a favour.

We've also won 2 of our last 12 games, we need every bit of form and confidence going into the POs we can. Whilst I don't expect a gung ho approach with bodies flying forward, unless we are ahead we should be looking to win the game at all times. Obviously I'll take the dullest draw ever seen, but we've had too many of those recently and if we want to avoid getting embarrassed in the play-offs, then we need to put trying to score some goals in this one and get some confidence up.

Hope that’s not an insinuation it’s a one way street, I don’t get involved on that cesspit but it’s most likely as a comeback to crap like the below. Just one example as it’s the most recent, but there are many many more. It’s like Carver in steroids on there:

Bradford fans are no different to fans of other teams. Like all teams we have a percentage of dicks but as 5% of 18000 is quite a lot more than 5% of 8000, we have more dicks. If you don't like what they put on social media, the anecdote is in your own hands. As far as play offs are concerned, we shouldn't be anywhere near. However, the fact that we are says that other teams shouldn't be anywhere near either.

Still no idea how we have a shout in this. We've been dreadful all year.
2 points from the last 15 available for Crawley probably gives some idea. That includes gsmes v Colchester and Sutton.
I honestly don't think it'll be the fix everyone is suggesting. But, given we've only scored 4 goals in 2 months, us scoring 0 is very much a distinct probability.

I'd rather us just go for it and get our confidence back going into the playoffs if I'm honest. Colchester are safe as houses in my book and it'd take a lot for them to go down.
If Sutton win 2-0 and Colchester lose 2-0 it's down to goals scored I believe.

I can't see us beating Grimsby but I don't think we've ever been in a play off so it would be nice.

I don't think anyone should boo a guard of honour as Stockport fully deserve the title, and the respect that comes with that. That said I expect there will be some because we have loads of p****s amongst our support. There is currently loads of moaning from some as a couple of their mates have got stadium bans for doing stuff everyone knows they are banned from doing (use of pyrotechnics and smoking within the stadium).

That said I would very much enjoy us beating them on Saturday.

Is this a good time to mention that I’ve always been a fan of Crewe?

I would say because our home form is not good lately, and in recent seasons we don't perform well at home in front of big crowds.
Don’t think Grimsby will be bringing that many! As their season is effectively over I think they will only bring around 700 or so

Handshakes before the game and Colchester v Crewe. Draw nailed on.
Should be decent atmosphere for our game both sets up fans celebrating a great season for their clubs. The actual football could go either way, could be a great game with both teams going for it knowing the result is irrelevant or a borefest with the players on the beach mentally. Hopefully the first

I’m curious to know why?
Did you see the bit about 2 points from 15 including games v Sutton and Colchester.

We beat Mansfield and then fell apart.

Dave Artell hinting at playing the kids for Grimsby.

I hate this time of year when dead rubber teams play daft teams.
This is what he actually said;
“I’m the manager of Grimsby Town Football Club, so what everyone else does is not a concern to me, but there are league rules that I should pick the best team available to me no matter the situation.

“That is what we’ll do, but we’ll also look at other possibilities in terms of how we set up and who we play. Swindon came to us last week and played a couple of teenagers - are we going to do that? There’s a possibility, but it is more likely that we won’t.
“That doesn’t mean to say that we might not look at some players that we haven't seen much of recently. We’ve got a duty to be as competitive as we can be in the game, and we want to win football matches no matter what - that is our job.

“My job is also trying to provide opportunities for all the players in my squad, including those we may not have seen a lot of, and this is a good chance to show us what they can do.”

We wouldn't have to worry about other teams if we were good enough. Just a shame we couldn't get one more win. No excuses for next season. Have to go for it.

Someone pointed out on twitter that of the 3 matches relevant to us there's 27 permutations (3x3x3) and in only 2 of them (I think) do we get into the playoffs.
So might as well just relax and hope it's a good match.
