I'm sure he'd be fine as a target man/ rotation option. He knows this league but has never really done anything of note at this level. Maybe he'll be one of those strikers who kick on in their 30s.

Wish him well, like, Preston lad and has grafted out a decent league career for himself.

Not overly seen any of that to be honest, as said Proctor was excellent last season but hasn't played for us barely in League One to judge but at the moment with Willo out he is a better option than a midfielder or youth midfielder that we had to shove up top first few weeks.
It does happen, I've seen it with James Ronaldo Messi Wilson on here.

I think last season was his best scoring despite missing three months with a torn stomach (ouch) but this is a step up and his body is pretty knackered now so would expect him to be more used when needed than a starter.

We will see on Willo, he seems to be settled and back in love with football again, he has the attributes and his touch and intelligence is clear to see, its the best from a striker I have seen play at VP for that side of his game since Tony Naylor and if we can get him back towards his early career he will do very well but again its injuries... which is probably the reason he is at Vale.

I've nothing against Port Vale as a club or the number of posts your fans have made on here. Like others have said it's refreshing and it has livened up the league one forum but they don't half get excited and make silly comments.

You were promoted from league two before a ball was kicked in pre-season 20/21. A lot of your fans on here do get a bit excited and tend to look too far ahead and make silly predictions based on things made up in their head.

Jamie Proctor being a handful for any league one defence to we need a striker and Stockton would be ideal and if he comes in Proctor will be fourth choice.

in 20/21 bookies had us one of the favourites, we started well but then the wheels fell off. Worked out well in a way as we overhauled the backroom and set up which has us light years from that season in terms of the set up around the club.

Proctor is a handful when fit but that's rare unfortunately and if we sign Stockton he won't be coming to sit on the bench (especially if the figure is one touching our record signing).

We had very little return on Harrison. Amazed to see him sprint from the halfway line with the ball and go round the keeper last weekend. Never saw that once in two and a half seasons. Maybe Clarke is the only one who can get a tune out of him?

We've been good so far this season but this may be a tough one. Harrison is bound to score so 1-1.

We have had a tendency on occasions this season to switch off defensively in key moments such as away at MK which ultimately cost us any hope of getting a point or more. If we do that on Saturday with the likes of Bishop we’ll pay the price for it.

It’ll be a difficult test for us. We did ok against Bolton for large parts in our other game against one of the bigger clubs but I think we’ll need to improve on that here.

Bishop and Smith will be an interesting battle after the FA Cup game last season!

Would take a point on Saturday really need another striker on the books to cover for Wilson and Proctor when injured.

I wont be happy with anything less than a win vs Shrewsbury.
No disrespect to Shrewsbury but these are the games we should be taking 3 points at home, especially as their decent signings don't seem to have clicked yet.
We are still a work in progress ourselves but looking at the squads we have more attacking flair.

Dont want to bust your bubble but we are not one of the bigger clubs and you would not have got a point if the teams stayed 11 against 11
Shef Wed looked a bit above us last week and i can think of one or two more......Vale like Exeter will finish bottom 10 but you as a club are growing...Dont get ahead of yourself

Probably for the best, I've just read the Bristol Rovers getting Sued thread. Fuck me.
thanks for highlighting that, very enjoyable read over lunch. I particularly enjoyed the fact that as someone over 65 he paid too much anyway.

True.. I think 11 v 11 we get all 3 with Santos and a more open game.

Not sure where he said we wont finish bottom 10 though

Agree that we won't finish top 10 but disagree that we wouldn't have got a point 11 v 11 vs you. It was a very even game and with our changes we would have had chances to win second half. Stop listening to that deluded manager of yours.

In terms of the game tomorrow, looking forward to it, never seen us play Pompey before (sure I have seen them play at Leicester in a friendly a decade or so back with a mate) and should be a decent atmosphere with 1600 or so of their fans and looking like around 7-7500 Vale fans.

We have our memorial service before kick off which is always well done (believe we are including Portsmouth fans lost this year in it as well).

Tough game, they are a good side, well established, Cowley is a decent manager, keeps it simple usually with a 4-4-2 and gets balls into the box so have to be prepared to cover Worrall and Benning at wing back and keep them as quiet as possible.

Hopefully we can gain control in the midfield central area's with the extra man (potentially 2 if Garrity plays behind a single striker with our forward injuries).

Pressure is off us a bit after last week so hopefully we can put on another decent home performance and see if that's enough for a point or three but wont be too much shame if we come up short at this stage. Next weekend is arguably the bigger pressure in terms of getting a result although 3 points are 3 points regardless.

Liked the article Pompey put out about how much football has changed since Ville Viljanen and Tommy Wid scored the goals against them in our last meeting way back in April 2000.

You are bringing tomorrow about the same as you brought last year on a Tuesday night in a monsoon. Is this a cost of living thing, we are boring to watch, wanting to avoid the M5 in August or what? I’m just wondering if this season there will be a depression of away fans coming down because of wider economic factors.

We've only got 1648 allocated this season, reckon we will get the other 500 if we sell out.

I dont do aways no longer..........other commitments
Looked on our forum we had sold 700 as of Wed....Most of those seem to be staying over. It is a bank holiday weekend etc 7th game of the month. Big food/drink festival in Bolton this weekend attended by over 200k
Distance etc think it is a combination of the above.....Good luck and safe travels to those 700

I think he's done well for you but he's one of those managers that says things to deflect from his own failings. That's why he made such a song and dance and was dropping the crocodile tears in his interview after our game. He knew it was his mistake, hence why he went ridiculously over the top about the referee and talked about definitely winning the game 11 v 11. He may go to the top, but he lacks the class and humility of the very best managers.

The very best managers were/are Bastards.......Get nowhere being nice
We had one Phil Parkinson a true Gentleman very classy but a shite football manager.
Yes Evatt says things out of context but he is a quality manager

I don't mind Evatt, he has done well and think he uses inflammatory comments to put attention on himself and protect his players at times.

Be interesting to see if he makes the Sunderland radar if or when Neil slithers off.

I agree but there are many managers that had a really competitive edge and could be forthright when needed, but still had the class and humility to give credit to others and to identify their own shortcomings.

I suspect fans of every club over the years have had managers who have said stuff that has made the supporters cringe, we've had some in my time watching us.

He's a prick, but he's our

I'm sure he'd be fine as a target man/ rotation option. He knows this league but has never really done anything of note at this level. Maybe he'll be one of those strikers who kick on in their 30s.

Wish him well, like, Preston lad and has grafted out a decent league career for himself.
So far Josh Earl is 24 carrot in our defense, the guy is oozing class and quality and a great addition to the squad
Perhaps dropping down a league is helping him but he's certainly thriving
