So far Josh Earl is 24 carrot in our defense, the guy is oozing class and quality and a great addition to the squad
Perhaps dropping down a league is helping him but he's certainly thriving
At centre back? Always thought he should be moved there. Maybe a couple of seasons with you and he will be ready for another crack at the Championship.

Should be a good game against Bolton today, hopefully we can make it 3 out of 3 at home.

Bristol Rovers away.

We’ve had a tough last four fixtures (Wycombe, Derby, Ipswich, Burnley) and we’ve struggled to make an impact in an attacking sense in these games as we’ve struggled to hit more than 35/40% possession wise. Definitely won’t be scoring many goals this season if it continues but likewise we won’t concede many.

Unfortunately I think for the players we have, Cotterill sets us up to be far to negative and places square pegs in round holes (plays an attacking midfielder at CDM, a striker at RWB, a striker at CAM) which is extremely frustrating to say the least.

As for today, no disrespect to Rovers, but it’s nice to be playing a game where we’re likely to have more possession and chances than our previous four games. Maybe a bit more like our opening two matches against Morecambe and Accrington (granted we only took one point but should have been atleast 4 points if we just had a bit of luck).

Have a strange feeling that we’ll shithouse a win today. 1-0 Salop (Leahy)

I think Port Vale fans have history of bigging their club or players up on this forum, so I’m not surprised to hear Proctor will terrorise any league one defence to fourth choice striker in the space of a few posts.

I've nothing against Port Vale as a club or the number of posts your fans have made on here. Like others have said it's refreshing and it has livened up the league one forum but they don't half get excited and make silly comments.

You were promoted from league two before a ball was kicked in pre-season 20/21. A lot of your fans on here do get a bit excited and tend to look too far ahead and make silly predictions based on things made up in their head.

Jamie Proctor being a handful for any league one defence to we need a striker and Stockton would be ideal and if he comes in Proctor will be fourth choice.
Proctor is going to have a much smaller role this season despite a good season just gone. He just isnt up to playing week in week out. Once fit, Wilson is our main threat and I still think we will see another one incoming before Wednesday is done.

As far as predictions go I think that most of us will be delighted if we survive in L1, but Im hoping for lower mid table as we look to build and progress long term.

Agree. I think 57-60 points would be a solid and acceptable target for this season, keep ourselves out of trouble and with a base to build on.

Similar ironically to Cambridge last season.

5 central midfielders starting, assume Walker is at the back which is strange when we have a couple of centre halves on the bench!

Could be a 4-1-3-1-1 I guess

Good side starting for us. Matt Taylor back on the touchline, Rekeem Harper on the bench. No excuses if we don't get something out of it.

Usually we take longer then this to go 2-0 down.

Only vegan pasties available in the away end, thanks to a ‘request’ from Dale Vince. Quite a few pissed off fans, thanks for that Dale. At least they serve Guinness, might need a few more to endure the rest of this game.

Was hoping we would at least have our morale intact if nothing else but this will be a right downer.

If this is the standard of refereeing we get against the “big” clubs it’s going to be a long old season. May as well have come on the Pompey coach.

Penalty not given, minute later 1-0 down. Late on our keeper no booking. Shoving not given. Absolute farce.

We’ve been below par though and struggling a bit with Portsmouths physical approach and a terrible goal to concede. Get Massey on.

Fucks sake Cambridge. You have one job to do. Beat us and we can sack this idiot.
We have even had a man sent off to help you.

Good game so far.

Charlton look like a decent side, good blend of having big lumps and footballing ability. Bak-Sak-and-Craki looks like quite a player.

They look a bit "Oxford" though, as in a footballing side who can get upset quite easily if you get stuck into them, and we're taking full advantage of that.

Could definitely go either way, but the draw is a fair reflection of the game so far.

Well this is going well.

I think coming up to this league you just have to factor in you’re going to get days like this now and then. Same for us as well.

We’re at least in the game against Portsmouth. You can see they are very good in possession. Absolute shithouses without the ball but it’s smart really if the ref lets them do it. Harrison needs some help up top, worked really hard but he can’t do it all on his own.

I think we've been the better team. These have had 1 chance and scored and just appear to want to scrap, really physical and horrible. Much like Cowleys Lincoln team. We should have had at least 1 penalty but we're never going to get penalties.

Bit more quality in the final third and I think we might be ok. These don't look any better than us and keeper looks shaky.

Shrewsbury players going down and staying down pretty much every time they get challenged. 7 mins added time and all of that down to their play acting

They look decent on the ball but are Stevenage under Westley without it. Could of had three penalties and apparently the tackle on the keeper was two footed but if the referee is crap they’ll take advantage of that.

How much are Pompey paying these refs it was the same story last week against us. The one we have today is shocking too.

Awful half against Burton, haven't defended their crosses at all well and have been so slow stretching them side to side. Will be an awful result unless we up the tempo and pull them around more.

The ref in our game today is the one who did such a sterling job in our two games with each other last season. He’s no better…

He’s lost his cards this time after his confetti show at Bristol last season!

Sure we will get our usual apology letter in a couple of weeks

Ah.. Couttsey's mate :bg: I rarely see any decent refs these days. Probably the last one was the female ref last season

We had her for the first ever EFL game a female refereed and was outstanding to be fair.

Why are big sides with such a talented bunch of players like Bolton and Portsmouth resorting to National League like tactics and attitudes instead of just playing decent football like they're more than capable of? Embarrassing watching this garbage. Throwing themselves to the floor trying to win anything they can. Cynical fouls, yet the referee is constantly giving us free kick after free kick yet not a single booking so far. Cowley will never change. Awful style of play everywhere he's been.

Stonewall penalty not given, shock horror! Cynical foul on the keeper and nothing. Constantly being hacked down. Bit of fortune with the goal too. Not a lot between either side tbh. We've created far more but haven't tested the keeper at all really. All relatively comfortable defending and basic clearances for Pompey. They haven't broken a sweat at the back really.

Praying the likes of Wednesday, Ipswich and the few other bigger sides actually play football ffs. Such a hard watch watching ex Prem teams playing like they're a National League side away from home in the FA Cup First Round.

Referee is having a shocker. Our third disallowed was never a foul and the ref has lost the plot.

Barnsley, ugly.
