I wouldn’t mind us taking Omari Patrick next season. League one or league two he’s a decent player.
I would take Paul Mullin if we stay down to give Doyle some competition
If we go up we need someone a level above.....Maybe Ashley Fletcher

That was really really easy. I’m not sure if we played something like what we’re capable of, or Crawley were just shit. I would say more of the latter, but there were definitely some good performances in there from some of our players.

We’ll see on Saturday whether we’ve turned a corner or not. I won’t hold my breath.

Second half Carlisle just kept us at arms length.

Saying that the Crawley keeper, Morris, pulled of a blinding double save. If that had gone in (and most of the time it would have) Crawley would have let in 3 goals in each of their last three games. Thing is I don't think it's our defenders most of the time. Look at the two goals tonight. Players just strolling through our midfield. OK Patrick hit a great shot but for gawd sake close the bugger down. It's been an issue for us all season and I'm beginning to think Yems doesn't have an idea how to fix it.

Well played Carlisle. Well deserved victory.....you bar stewards.

Big result that for Carlisle as they are now only 5 points behind Exeter, and Exeter ate definitely getting in the automatics because Devon Lad said so, so technically Carlisle are just 5 points from the automatics.
A good nights work.

If only we could play the whole season on Brunton Park!

Well I think we’d only lost 1 home game before February.

Your system doesn’t suit him. I’m sure you’ll be in for him with a lot of other clubs.

Could you take Paul Mullin if you stay down? He'll be wanting League One football won't he?
It was a bit tongue in cheek....Mullin was offered to Bolton last summer but we went with Doyle.
If he wants to return to the N/W he is limiting his options.
Salford would maybe want him Crewe perhaps or Fleetwood. Accrington if they sold one of there two good forwards.

Think we've got him tied up... been man of the match for me tonight.
I see his deal runs out in the summer. From down south too so will be surprised if others are not in for him.

We have an option of an extra year in his contract, in the clubs favour. I don’t think it’s absolutely certain we’ll exercise the option however. He’s obviously got quality in him but he hasn’t been consistent enough.

We had the option of an extra year with Charles Vernam, and Holloway and Fenty decided between them that it would be a good idea not to excercise it and let him leave for fuck all.

If others are in for him then even if we didn't want him we'd presumably exercise our option so we could get money for him.

On another note. Josh Wright is probably the most useless player I've seen an opponent put out against us. Is he only at Crawley because of his brother and the TV? Why does he start? Is he scared to mess his hair up?

Bolton's home record must have been pretty shocking before the unbeaten run, imagine the fans reaction when we were losing 6-1 at home to Port Vale. Best thing we did this season was ship Ali Crawford out to Tranmere but just realised we have him back next season. He would be my choice on the worst player ever thread. I can't remember the last game I attended live it's that long ago. Must be Autumn 2018 and yes I had almost given up (shit fan). But I have strangely been addicted to the i follow games even when we were hopeless. Must have watched about 30 games now. Much easier than the long walk to Middlebrook from mine.

At least you have a hotel that can accomodate 26,000 people if you are tired after going to a Bolton game. :)

(You might need to check out the Pilot Games thread to understand the relevance behind that seemingly random AF post.)

While I wasn’t that impressed we were taking Crawford on the basis of his showing in the game at Prenton Park, surprised you have such a negative view of him. He’s done ok in his rare outings for us since the loan spell, nothing at either extreme. Think on your forum it was Delaney, the lad who got sent off (a tad unlucky imo) who was your worst performer that day.

Funny, I'm sure a Bolton fan on this forum said Crawford was the best midfielder in this division earlier in the season...

That wasn't me, but I did think he'd be good this season. Last year in league 1 he was pretty good in a makeshift team. 5 assists in his 12 games.

Was delighted we got rid in Jan. He was so wasteful. Pass completion must have been awful and his shots were more likely to trouble the upper tier. It looked like he hadn't trained, but every game. Add to that we tried to fit him and Sarce in, which also didn't work.

It's bad form to slag your own players off so I try not to( a part of the team ie midfield; yes) but in this case I just go with the premise we are playing with ten men.

I'm hoping that with a good pre season and a run of games (on loan somewhere else) he can get back to the championship level he achieved previously.

It is noted that your view concurs with the view of Bradford and Orient fans on this forum. Bradford fans warned Orient and Orient fans warned us. I am hoping to warn other fans but for some reason we gave given him a two year contract so it won't be anytime soon.

As for why Yems signed him and his brother. Probably because he knows them from previous gigs and determined he could trust them. Mark is now a conference South/North level full back. It was an area where we had problems and was a chance worth taking. Josh I would say that he hasn't seen him play for a while but remembered what he could do.

He's had an interesting career Josh Wright, seems he won player of the season at Gillingham but despite that and a few impressive looking seasons on paper, keeps getting released then he has never been out of anyone's starting line-up for long, and has had more bad spells at clubs than good. He must look a cut above on the training pitch or something to keep getting these moves and to keep being given responsibility.

Not exactly how it happened though is it?

From what I recall they did want to do the extra year but offered it on the same COVID 25% reduction that the rest of the squad had agreed to at the time. Either that or the clause about the 25% kicking in if they had to stop the season. That ‘legally’ gave vernam the opportunity to leave for free which he subsequently did as the original deal had changed.

Either way, for the record I am in no way defending Fenty, Holloway or the decision to put the squad in that situation, but I don’t think it was just the headline of letting him go.

We have a good record up at Mansfield, but their horrendous pitch won’t suit us and they’re overdue a run of decent results. We love to sit in at 0-0 away from home for as long as humanly possible, so expect a complete snoozefest in the opening 45. 1-0 Stags, Bowery penalty, natch.

Yes Delaney was awful that day, he has been nowhere near the first team since that day. Crawford may have been half decent last season , that must have been why Hill took him but as I said i never saw much of Bolton that season, only highlights .Another reason for the resurgence is Crelin, the terrible on loan goalkeeper, He has been potted as well after giving away so many soft goals. Since he got dropped we have averaged 2 points a game even including the bad run before and after Christmas. We will probably lose on Friday now I have smugly explained where we were going wrong !
