I mean we had two midfielders in our back three, a Left WB at RWB, Tozer recalled. who has been defensively suspect lately, and we started with our fourth choice striker alongside Mullin - as well as a recalled Andy Cannon who hasn't played for weeks. Add in the fact that we've not beaten Notts at home for 20 years I think there was reasons for the pessimism.

We've had a great October though, I wasn't sure where our points would. come from this month and Parky has more than delivered.

The line up suited you - you don’t need big, lumbering centre halves against us, midfielders who are a bit more nimble but could get tighter to our forwards easier worked really well.

Dreadful game that, 2 poor teams, separated by one act of stupidity, speaking of stupidity half of the SYP looked to be struggling to separate the 2 sets of bellend after the game by the Hyde Park Club, all in all just your standard home game vs Grimsby.

It's a reminder to some of our doubting Thomas fans that Parkinson does know what he's doing (dropping Evans back instead of bringing Boyle in) . It was partly through necessity because of injury but equally both O'Connor and Evans have done well when playing at the back. Helped not having to contend with Bostock in midfield today as well.

The two league defeats all season before today and league position meant it was likely to be fine margins and a close game which it appears to have been the case.

The good ship Parky is officially back on course, the man knows how to navigate a promotion challenge so we have to trust in him really. To use a boxing term, he old-man'd Williams today.

There is still doubt whether he sets the team up attacking enough to win games at the best sides in the league. We've got the quality of player to go and win at these grounds so hopefully this result means he gets a bit more braver in away games now.

A much needed away win - can’t remember the last time we were given 2 pens away from home. A good shuffle of the pack by GC in light of Seberry’s broken leg in the week. Da iawn bois.

Hahahaha just seen that Wrexham goal properly. Somehow deflected off a man falling over in the penalty box’s arse and spun straight into the top corner, one in a million stuff.

I dunno, I thought we played pretty well generally, just struggled to find a final ball for a clear chance. We had about ten of those shots like Lee’s from around the edge of the box, sometimes in these games it just comes down to that bit of luck.

Chesterfield fans will be here in a minute to contest that.

Typical mansfield, should’ve put the game to bed in the first half and yet we’re fucking around at 1-1 before getting the winner.

Sadly mansfield fans gave more air to danny johnson than he deserved, it was him who threw the dolly out the pram as he wasn’t good to get in to mansfield side, and today he demonstrated why he’d be more suited to a club like walsall, apparently he played today? off you fuck lad.

Massive criticism of mansfield today was the atmosphere? never got going, bloody poor all round, maybe the trip to meadow lane rubbed off on us (apart from the winning part)

Yet here we are, still unbeaten

Played shit, but crack on!

We probably had more shots on goal than you did.

The amazing Jodi Jones was generally under lock and key and Langstaff did his disappearing act again.

Second half we came out and imposed ourselves on it and our goal was coming, deflected or not. You do what you need to win but it was hardly backs to the wall, we had a fair bit of the ball even in the first half.

We are a damn good side despite what everyone says but this win feels like a bit of a statement. Already been away to Stockport, Mansfield and Notts and we are right up there.
You didn't have more shots or much of the ball, and I didn't feel like a goal was coming, but we all see these things differently.

Disappointed to lose but it doesn't change how I feel about Notts, more useful bodies needed, and hopefully Palmer going off injured wasn't anything too serious.

I thought they played it well, stifled our better players and always felt a threat. Two good teams, draw would probably have been a fair result but sometimes you get a bit of luck that sends one of those games your way, what can you do?
It always felt like the first goal would be the decider. Horrible deflection , total fluke but as an way performance it's how you get promoted.

Our lack of squad depth is killing us. No striker on the bench, no midfield cover on a par with the starters.
Wrexham, Stags and I suspect Stockport have a bit more across the board than us and it's a case of staying in touch until the transfer window and hoping our recruitment gives us the bit extra need.

With that attempt of a defence maybe county should go more defensive against decent sides as they’ll get rinsed.

League position suggests they can outscore sides in general, but not against those who’ll be competing against them.

That said from afar i’ve got to love wrexham and county’s approach with the ridiculous amount of goals conceded - which makes our play look pretty dull.

Sorry to see Seberry has broken his leg, thought it was serious but didn't really see much in the challenger the other end of the ground. All the best to him.
Great result today, wrecked my Acca, but after what was frankly a mauling on Tuesday that's a great away win.

We were pretty good today, Macari at RWB has definitely improved us, wouldn't blame the defence particularly today, we've just hit a ceiling with the players we've got as well as a couple of important players missing.

We aren't playing the Dog & Duck in the weakest National League ever(?) so it shouldn't be a huge surprise we both still score lots and concede plenty.

It's never dull, the attendances both clubs are attracting confirm that.

Very dull at Edgeley Park - felt like a preseason friendly between a championship side and one from non-league. No intensity to the game whatsoever and very little in the way of an atmosphere. No idea why Challinor didn't make County go for the kill a bit more, unless it was out of sympathy, but they were more than happy to pass the ball around for the last twenty and save energy. We were a bit more solid with Walker and Lewis in the middle and Apter was our best player by far, but County didn't need to get out of first gear and relegation seemingly beckons.
I've now been in all four stands at Edgeley Park - although the Railway End still needs a roof, that popular side needs knocking down, it's shite in there.

Not sure our defence can be blamed today really, freak goal and then a classic counter attack second. Was actually drifting towards a very surprising bloodless 0-0 draw before that haha.

Yep depth clearly a big issue - Wrexham obviously got issues with injuries with the XI they put out and you’re still looking at them having players like Palmer, Young and Fletcher to potentially bring off the bench. Look at ours and there’s Austin who is a fine utility player but by no means a game changer and then no one really.

O’Brien has been a great servant as well and can still provide a useful 30 minute cameo, but going into a season with him as the only back up for Palmer and Bostock is borderline negligent from a recruitment team that has generally got so much else right.

The majority fans wanted O'Brien not to have a new contract before last season including myself, we were all wrong.

Does look like the club have now made a mistake this time around in not finding a replacement/upgrade. We a paper thin after the two quality starters.

Saying that the recruitment team should be graded as A to date.

I didn’t mind the new contract too much, he’s clearly a big figure in the dressing room and, as I said, can still be useful in small bursts. No way should he be the main back up in such a key area though - it looked thin before Bajrami got his season ending injury, and we still had a week or two of the window to sign someone after that.

Not saying it can be buddy, wasn’t there, point being is you know where to strengthen in January as do wrexham and that’ll define your season.

There’s pros and cons, when walsall scored today at field mill, the players and the he fans didn’t quite know what to do, or how to react, it was almost like “what are you doing?”

Jokes aside about the strength of the conference, you’ll have every chance if that’s addressed.

Akins is out for a few weeks likely after today so a big loss for Stags.
