I debated whether to wait until 10pm tonight before opening thread but I know that many guys on site like to discuss upcoming matches almost immediately after final whistle.

Though it’s a mid-table clash I think our game with Lincoln could potentially be a good one to see. Obviously they have done brilliantly lately given the quality of opposition they have been up against. For us we’ve been up and down results wise but the performances have largely been there. Just avoid a repeat of the last time they came to VP and beat us 6-2 which shouldn’t be beyond us.

Fancy Rovers to get something at Derby, for whatever reason they haven’t quite clicked at home under Warne yet even if it’s early days and Rovers are in decent form.

Our first 'proper' derby in 21 years. Could be a bit tasty!

Charlton away - I really have no idea what to expect of them, seeing as they stuffed Pompey, then lost to MK Dons last night?! Gutted I didn't get a ticket, as left it to a mate as I was away - he forgot to order!

MK at home. Hard to believe they'll still be down there come the end of the season and they'll have a bit of confidence after beating Charlton yesterday.

We'll have to play better than we did yesterday to win, but with Nlundulu possibly out injured it's hard to see where the goals will come from.

In his defence, they were only on sale for 6 minutes!

Oh go on then.
Should be a great game on Monday, however we do need to play better than last night to get something from it.
Caldwell will though have had a good few days on the training ground to work out how to set us up.
Will be interesting to see if Jamal plays, I'm sure he will get a lovely reception .
I'm also hoping that Diabate is back, so Key can play at wing back instead. Other than Stubbs we may have a full side (fingers crossed).

Be a decent watch that I’d have thought. We’ve also got them on sky soon I think.
19th November.
Sky ignore us for years, then put us on three times in as many months.

Lincoln at home... their last visit was probably one of the lowest ebbs League wise with a 2-6 result at home and was pretty much where we "bottomed out" so would love to win this and put that ghost to bed. A real dark period in our history.

If we can put in the performance levels of recent games we should be competitive and fancy a positive outcome, anticipate it being tough as they seem hard to break down away from home so probably a very different type of game to last night.

Win here would keep us ticking over nicely, draw wouldn't be the end of the world.

Another tough away game and one where we really need to pick something up from after two defeats on the bounce. Normally do half decent at Fratton Park from memory and if we play as though we did in the first half last night, we’ll pick something up here.

Prediction:-
Majority of the Pompey fans moaning and getting rattled by Salop’s shithousery ;)

A great month for us so far despite it being an horrific October on paper but now we're going to start hitting the bottom half sides up until around Xmas and these are the ones we need to be better at picking points up from because we've let points slip against FGR and Fleetwood and didn't turn up for Cambridge.

We've had the second hardest start to the season based on opposition PPG so to be settled in mid-table with game(s) in hand, played 9 of the top 10 (and the majority of those 9 away), played two less home games than most others, the injuries we've had and a change in system only three/four weeks ago has been very impressive.

Not scoring or conceding many at the minute so it's fine margins but I'm much more comfortable this way than the last two or three seasons where we were trying to work out how many we'd need to score to take a point from a game.

Jackson will come in for Walsh, neither can play Saturday/Tuesday but aside from that I'm not sure we'll make any changes. I did wonder whether the change in shape and game plan would be temporary just for October but it's gone that well I think we'll stick with it going forward for the time being. It's completely different from the attempted high-press, high-line 4-3-3 that left us so exposed earlier in the season.

Can’t believe it’s a 3 o’clock kick off on a Saturday!

Dreading this, the thought of losing it anyway, we need some bodies back but I did like the look of our mid field last night(O’Neil just doesn’t cut it at this level) and ironside done well holding things up, finishing was still off though.

Oxford at home, not an easy game, but no Taylor or Bodin should be helpful to our cause.

I don't think Bodin has done anything since he was with us years back. Taylor seems on the decline now too

I'm surprised at how well you've done to be honest. A lot of the predictions (including your own fans) was for a season of struggle. Usually bring a pretty good following do Lincoln, so I'd imagine maybe 1000?

We're getting a bit more consistent with our performances and have perhaps been unlucky not to get another 6-8 points. What we don't want is to be a hard luck story that plays well but doesn't pick up points.

Looks like we'll need to be fully on it again to get anything again.

I've given thought to your comment and agree with it.

Got to go with Simper. I know he’s young but he’s technically solid and doesn’t look out of place at all. There’s a decent player in there if we develop him well.

I’m finding it hard to be rational about this game. My head says a draw would be a good result but I want to beat them and I know we’re capable of it on our day. And you know Bonner will have them worked up for this too.

I anticipate a similar game to Shrewsbury where they will sit back and try and dig us out on the counter. Oddly for the first time since I’ve been going we seem to have been able to break teams down but first goal will be key (although we are masters of coming from behind).

These are the games at home we need to be getting points in. We are getting the biggest crowds at Vale Park in three decades and granted we’ve had a lot of tougher fixtures at Vale Park but need to stop dropping silly points and give them a reason to keep coming.

Overall the home form is the slight blot on a decent enough start to our season and we have some winnable games to try and address that now.

You have a good chance on Saturday. We've really not played well since the first hour against Plymouth six games back. It does seem that the main reason for this is Tom Lowery's absence. He's a real spark in midfield who seems to bring the best out of those around him. The Pack/Lowery axis was really impressive.

As to when Lowery, and others are back - who knows? Getting thoroughly pissed off with the lack of recovery date information for our injured players. Cowley looks for every advantage for games, and makes out that long-term injured players are always on the verge of returning next game presumably to keep the opposition manager guessing. The net result is that fans turn up excited that Player X is back, only to find him completely missing from the teamsheet. This carries on for weeks and weeks until the player finally appears. Can't understand why our local press don't complain about this.

Rant over. Prediction: Portsmouth 0 Shrewsbury 1 (Aiden O'Brien - off the bench). 3 shots on goal combined. Shithouse level 5 (No complaints, we're the same) No sign of Tom Lowery and numerous others.

MK Dons at home for us, the second of two huge home games this week. We got the win against Morecambe and we could really do with it against MK.

Their win in midweek at Charlton concerns me but, by the same token, I'm a little relieved because it ended their losing run.

I think it'll be a bore draw.

Yeah the fact bonner is one of us helps, he’ll let the players know what it mean’s.

Totally with you on the rational side of things, emotion has Taken over for me, a draw would be a decent result but like you I just want to beat them.

Simper is the kind of player I wanted at the beginning of season, shame it’s taken until now and a lot of injuries to see him regularly but I do understand why as he’s so young, O’Neil and to some extent even may are just too slow and ponderous.

Does seem a weird one. Not withstanding the fact that you lot have been floundering well below us for a couple of decades like the non-league fluffies you really are and as such we have not had to slum it by playing you, it does seem weird that the police may have forgotten how this one tends to go.

Anyway good luck Saturday in your Cup Final. Looking forward to hearing the 'all we are saying is give us a goal' chants, when you are 4-0 down after an hour.
