Question to one or any of our friends in Carlisle: the weather forecast says that it will be raining in Cumbria all day Saturday, lightly until about 2pm and then heavily till about 10pm.

I'm sure the game will go ahead but will away fans be in a dry sheltered stand during match?

Newport v Scunthorpe will be emotional as Flynn's last game.

I hope we’re on an open terrace in the rain, so Carlisle fans can’t complain when they come here.

Rain Forecast all over the place tomorrow, Vale Park one of the better grounds though so I'd imagine no issues for our game!

Do Port Vale still sell match programmes on the day? I see you can buy them from their online shop.

Jackett has hinted we may switch formation tomorrow, doesn't suprise me as we literally don't have another player who can play RWB like Tom James, we have 2 LWBs in Shad Ogie and Connor Wood but on the right we literally have no one else to play there and I can't see young Anthony Papadopoulos being played there like in the EFL trophy a few weeks back. I reckon 4-4-2 with Craig Clay at right back.

I think with James out we may fall just short against one of the leagues better sides who are on form. A draw will still be a decent enough result for ourselves tomorrow, we NEVER play well at Vale Park - even when we somehow won last season!

Yes TT I reckon you used all your luck in that match, we are a different proposition now with a keeper looking to dominate his area. 3-1 to the Vale.

Yeah no gonna, I thought we were incredibly lucky to come away from Vale Park with 3 points last season.

Definitely not a happy hunting ground for us - I remember getting spanked there 3-0 in our first game in League 1 after being promoted in 2006 - Leon Constantine was excellent for Vale that day.

Can smell a narrow home win coming, but I think the majority of both sets of fans would be happy with a point.

No RB is a big shame for us, as our full backs have been excellent this season, but we'll figure something out. Vale look good, but it's L2 so I don't think anyone is that scary - 1-1.

That 3-0 win in the end was the worst thing that could have happened to us as we signed Justin Miller and Shane Tudor from you the following summer. Didn’t work out too well.

Draw would be more than fine. My suspicion is conditions will play a huge part in the outcome. If the wind is up then our long throw and delivery from Worrall and Conlon will be useful to have. But it’s L2 as you say and all teams are pretty even especially this season and that’s how it’s playing out.

The Terminator haven’t purchased a programme in a long time so stand to be corrected but swear we switched to digital only then option to buy a paper one via the club shop.

I stopped buying them but the club shop is next to the away end if you wanted to pop in and grab one.

Will be a tough game, Orient seem to have improved year on year since coming up and look to be doing so the right way so will need to be at our best, we've been better away than we have at home so need to start to be better there.

After Rochdale did us with crosses to their big striker I am a bit worried about Smith as hes a big guy isnt he?

Would take a draw but we've beaten the other two in the auto's so would be nice to win and get ourselves into there in the embryonic table.

1-1 Vale lead but Orient equalise mid way through the second half and it filters out into a draw.

I can see the temptation to put in Aaron Martin if he was fit but I think Nathan Smith in that middle CB role is more than equipped to deal with Harry Smith in the air. I know there’s a size difference but Nathan is good at using his body to gain leverage over the striker and he is naturally a very strong player (think Pope once said he found him a nightmare in training on that score).

I think this present back three is definitely our best three as we have two who can bring it out now either side of him and that’s why we are looking a bit more dangerous going forward now.

To be fair it was Martin at fault against Rochdale if I recall so without Leggey may as well stick with what we've got.

Odd season that, think we were 16th with no signs of any quality at all with 9 games to go. Then we won them all and got promoted. Classic L2.

I also don’t blame last season on Barton, but I do for this season, no excuses. And tbf to him, he accepts this season is on him
I think the key in that promotion season was James Hunt being suspended for a couple of games and Trollope realised (something most fans knew) that we were much better without him

We tend to do alright at VP then lose to Bradford at home.
I’ve just had a look on Bradford’s forum. Blimey that’s doom and gloom! The last 2 sides we’ve faced in Mansfield and Oldham were according to their own fans’ bound to lose to us… we got 1 point. So cue a loss on Sat!

Sounds like Vernam is back for us so I'm a lot more confident this week than last. Reckon it'll be a decent game that ends in a draw. 2-2.

Cobblers fans now buying shirts to be distributed to the Afghan refugee children who are attending.

Sutton should let us have a 1-0 head start

I have been to Carlisle a couple of times, in the away end. Unless it has changed since then it was at one end of the long stand down the side of the ground, which was covered, and generally fine. The only odd thing was that you were behind the goal-line, directly in front was the terrace behind the goal and not the pitch.

That is a kind offer from Northampton fans. Amazing even.

Hopefully the Northampton defence has the same spirit of generosity

It's now reported
Mike Flynn has now left with immediate effect.
Yes, initial report said Scunthorpe would be his last game which on reflection didn't make much sense. Still be some emotion, for Len Ashurst.

I've seen it happen the other way too. We had a season in 92/93 when we were 4th top in January and 4th bottom in April, having set a football league record for a goal drought (13 games, over 20 hours), before recovering to stay up.

Sounds like us last season - 6th in December, two points behind the top three.

25 games and one win later, we were third bottom by mid-April and four points above relegation going into a game against second bottom.

Dreading tomorrow. Forest Green are going to absolutely annihilate us. A pasting could put us bottom if results go against us and it would be thoroughly deserved.

Looking pretty likely, only need Bristol Rovers, Salford, Mansfield and Stevenage to win/draw and Walsall, Scunny and Oldham to win.

Odds on surely

Na I’d say unlikely, but as I say IF results go against us we could end up bottom this time tomorrow.

So possible but unlikely tomorrow, but it will happen eventually if we don’t change the head coach.

There's been a cloud of indifference about our coming game with Crawley, very little pre-match stuff on the Rovers forums. Unsure why it's so quiet.

Main issue with be whether Micky sticks with a back 4 given left-back Calum Macdonald is suspended or reverts to 5 at the back. Most Rovers fans would prefer the former, though it would require picking one of the out of favour pair of Maguire/Merrie to fill in and would enable Kieron Morris to play further up the park where he performs best.

Crawley did the double over us last season, so hoping for some revenge. However, they've recently come into some form and it will be a testing game, with a draw the most likely outcome.

As a club we’ve (understandably) struggled to move on from the death of Justin Edinburgh. This summer has seen a huge changing of the guard both on and off the pitch, which has been a breath of fresh air tbh. On the evidence shown so far I’m fully expecting a top 7 finish, though as mentioned previously the loss of Tom James is a problem for us.

Smith is 6’7”, but he’s pretty average in the air. Good with the ball at his feet, mind. We’re an extremely big side overall - the 6’2” thug we’ve got from Millwall is the smallest CB we have and if Kyprianou starts alongside Pratley we’re over 6ft in CM as well. First time I’ve ever seen an Orient side like it - we’re usually the soft Southerners with fleet-footed wingers playing in gloves.
