A wet and windy San Sixfields today for the visit of Sutton. Had no idea where Sutton was tbh, assumed it was somewhere up north, surprised to see my mistake. Anyway, 2 teams playing 4-4-2 so expecting the midfield to be bypassed pretty regularly today.

Going for a 2-0 win in what I assume is our first league game ever against Sutton. Also as Eric has mentioned it really is a fantastic gesture from the club / fans inviting the refugees to the ground. Certainly going to be a culture shock but its great to see everyone band together to assist in what must have been a horrendous situatuon.

Watching from home today as struggling recovering from Covid, up the teyn!

Suffering with a nasty cold (two tests, not covid). I'd forgotten just how bloody horrible a cold can be!

If the weather in Tranmere is like the weather here we could have really used Nadesan and his pace over the top . I hope Yems waves that in his face so he learns not to try to headbutt centre halfs again.

We tend to play better against the teams who play on the floor. Only idiots would do that today so I think it could be a long afternoon for us.

Thought we could have done with making changes after the Sutton debacle but this has our commentators (and myself) stumped.

Gibson and McDonald were doubtful for today, Gibson will be a big loss. Not sure about why Mellor has been dropped with no out-and-out right-back in the squad so unsure who'll play there, I didn't see the Sutton game, maybe Mellor was especially bad, maybe he's just carrying a knock.

Whoever does play there will be up against Nicky Cadden...they could have a long and challenging afternoon.

Well we've never beaten this iteration of Newport and that isn't going to change today. Don't think we will ever get that 3rd away win of 2021. Could be 4, 5, 6 today who knows.

The runners and riders are Dickenson, Whelan and Riley... none of them a natural right-back, so whatever our plan to stop Cadden, it doesn't involve putting an experienced right-back in his path. Chris Beech has either played an absolute blinder or dropped an absolute clanger.

I know very little about Dinzeyi, but Radio Cumbria haven't included him in their discussion over who could be playing at right back.

Done a few bets in the pie and peas league today...............the coalman is a knocking bet to score against Swindon
Matt,Jay, Zanzala.Henderson and Cook are on my scorecasts,

Port vale, Bradford,Tranmere and Fgr are all above evens. Its a crap league but theres easy money to be made just like last season
Of which Bolton were crapper than most for half a season

Casey, sorry to hear you’re feeling rough. Hope on the mend soon, but not bolstered by today’s result!

Don’t know what the weather is like in Sussex, steady rain in Prenton with the wind getting up though not that strong. Rovers will mostly play on the deck, don’t have the personnel to go long. We’ve stuck with 4 at the back, Chris Merrie replacing the banned Macdonald.

Just turned commentary on and think they said Dale Vince is in with the away fans because he won't wear a tie in the Carlisle boardroom :D

It's been pissing down all night and morning here! and the forcast is for it to continue into the evening so we are about to find out how good the new million pound pitch and drainage is.
Not a day to be on an open terrace but guess people are used to it.

Very nice of Carlisle to leave Matt unmarked. Been end to end so far.

Hammered in by Cadden for a bit of a flattering lead. Chris, commentators raving about an earlier McGee save too, did you see it?

That half could only have gone better if Procs had just kept that chance down slightly. We’ve done really well overall.

Orient have won a lot of first headers (expected given the size of their team) but Vale have then been quicker to the second ball and broke at pace which has troubled them. As always next goal crucial.

Feels like all of our games are the same, just two horrific teams battling it out but the opposition score from the one bit of quality all game.

If Newport even slightly step it up they could get a number of goals but they don't need too, not a chance we're scoring.

Yeah point blank, one of those that’s looked in not sure how he’s kept it out. Potentially game changing that was.

We’re well in control now.
