On this occasion I will actually defend Barton. Fans stayed mostly in the stands at first but started pouring on after for some reason - which I don’t like. I don’t agree with going on the pitch of an opposing team, especially when we haven’t done anything yet.

Fans went up to him celebrating and he shook hands etc and they lifted him up on their shoulders. On camera you could clearly see him pointing out there was 1 more game left, kept trying to calm them down - eventually though he kinda just gave in and tapped his chest etc.

What he did at your place as well, there was nothing wrong with it. He went up to the away fans and did a fist pump where we cheered with every pump. He does this for most wins, Klopp seems to do it most games. DC used to do it, sometimes GC too.

I get a lot of people don’t like Barton, as a person I don’t. However you’re looking/picking at something that just isn’t there on this occasion
Fair enough. Silliness from the fans more than anything I guess.

if Brown stays as manager i think Banks will move on to another club,
I have to say that Brown was a complete embarrassment yesterday. We sit right behind the dug outs and he was encroaching our technical area throughout the game but more so in the second half. Constantly berating the ref and linesman when to be fair they weren't that bad compared to some of the crap that we have had to endure this season. The fact that there were over 13,000 town fans there yesterday meant that he was constantly playing up to our crowd. I actually cringed when he feigned to go down on his knees and raised his fists to the skies whilst screaming "hallelujah" because they were given a throw in.

In mid December we were 16th after losing 2-1 to vale. Since then I think we’ve conceded something like 6/7 goals at home. He’s done a superb job tbf to him.

Have to say I’m impressed with your comeback as well, thought you were out of it a few weeks ago.

Can you imagine a Rovers Vs Swindon play off final? A near sell out Wembley in L2 - it would be horrible
To be fair I'm hoping that you get third as I dont fancy you in the PO's despite taking 4 points from you this season. Was reasonably impressed with you at our place but i'm more concerned about the potential for trouble on the trains if we meet at Wembley rather than worrying about the outcome of the game/s. Would rather play Vale or Northampton as we have been taking very good numbers away (3.5k sold for Walsall on Saturday) and we would at least get a reasonable allocation there as opposed to the piddling allocation at Rovers or Sutton

The whole line would be ridiculous. They’d have to organise separate trains, surely?
The return of the Football Special. Great times in the 70's and 80's. As long as its not like the 7.5 hour journey that we had to Newcastle in the 1989 FA Cup:)

Not sure what's happening to our supposed captain Ollie Banks since he signed a new contract and/or Rooney rejoined but he's an absolute shadow of by far the best player we had at the start of the season. He half-arsed a tackle in the lead up to Swindon's winner (not the first time in recent weeks) and his teammates looked furious, Farman and Brough in particular. I wouldn't be giving the armband to him again next season.

Yeah, the way they tore into him tells me that they were unhappy about more than just his powder-puff attempt at a tackle. It was vicious. Something's gone on behind the scenes. So annoying because he was brilliant and has just dropped off a cliff.

As for being captain, no chance next season - though he'll still be here if there are no offers. Let's hope he impressed somebody enough in the first half of the season to take a punt.

Think he's had a yellow card in every game I've seen. He's clearly a bit of a tool and we're going to appoint him on the strength of 7 points from a possible 27...

Tranmere fans, had a nosey on one of your forums and the consensus seems to be that you’d not want Clarke to stay on for another year. Where’s that come from? Very surprised to read that given he’s in the TOTS. Would take him back at Latics in a heartbeat

Classic end of season dead-rubber against Stevenage. The reaction, or lack of from both groups of fans when Stevenage got a late penalty said it all.

Still, it's nice to get a win and end our home campaign with a couple of wins given how poor we've been since our safety was all but guaranteed in March. As welcome as survival is, it's always a bit of a deflating end to the season when the players then down tools and let their minds drift to other matters.

First half was dull but the second half was better and we played some decent football around both the goals. Nice finish from Joe Riley who might have been slated for release not that long ago having seemed out of the manager's plans, but who does look motivated now to earn a contract... which I would definitely give him.

Hull, no idea how he is normally but he looked like bambi on ice today at times. Thought Odusina looked quite good.

Our keeper was a 17 year old making his first ever appearance, no idea why you didn't try and test him more with crosses into the box.
He would have collected every cross with ease.
We have two forwards, one Carver, who's utter shyte & makes your Nuttall look like Salah.
And Omar Bogle, whos just bone idle.
The last few weeks have been a disaster & I'm dreading next season with these two plonkers in charge.

I think opinion is divided, and a majority would still keep him.

He has faded a bit in the second half of the season due to fatigue, with errors creeping in, and the same thing happened last season. My concern is that he is not going to be able to play forty six games next season, and that means disruption to the back four if he is in and out of the side.

Personally, I would release him purely to get some different senior voices in the dressing room. He is a very dominant character and we have had two failed promotion campaigns now.

A move to somewhere like Oldham could suit him for a season, particularly if he is allowed to do his coaching badges at the same time, which I think is the avenue he wants to go down.

Fair enough. Interesting point around wanting some different senior voices in the dressing room - seems to imply you don’t think he’d be good to have about the place? Surprised by that, seems to be a model pro to me

He is a model pro, but we have got a very young starting eleven. There seems to be a divide between the older heads like Clarke and Spearing and some of the youngsters, and I think we need to shake things up a bit.

On the Vale website all home areas showing sold out for tomorrow. Unfortunately we are not able to sell every seat in each area as our safety certificate doesn’t allow it and the club isn’t very forthcoming on what the actual capacity is.

All the more reason we should start looking at giving home fans the Hamil end.

Great news! But yeah slightly frustrating! If Crewe can sell that away end to capacity we should be allowed 50k in the Bycars!

Guessing around 10k ?

I believe it’s limited to 80% in home areas so I’d say that’s about right.

That said they quoted 10800 for the Rovers game. I’d love to know where another 9000 could have fit in that stadium as I thought they also brought a fair few more than the number given and same for the home areas.

Away was about right as you had the front rows blocked off.

If it’s 80% that would be around 10-11k I would think but would be worth the club announcing if no tickets are left so no walk ups come and get disappointed.

Imagine 3-400 Newport so it’s frustrating as I’ve said before with 4000 empty seats in the away end we can’t utilise that.

Love the video from Carol though. Should be a great occasion let’s hope the boys do their bit!

Times like this you really wish the Lorne Street stand was fully completed. Do think the club should be open as to what the actual capacity allowed is at present.

Add on £70k I think we get from Sky as the home team will have made a nice sum from our last two home games though as well as some from the beamback on Saturday.

It's a great effort. Very few teams at this level could muster over 10,000 home fans, we just have to perform better than the last time we had a big crowd!

14,500 after restrictions it seems.

10500 home fans. Should finish the Lorne Street now demand is there and sort the safety issue out. Hopefully with Smurf out the picture some funds can be freed up for that.

Sounds about right. A shame we have an away end which holds up to 4500 and Newport will bring around 3-400. Seems a waste not to find a way to get people in them seats. All it really needs is a metal barrier In the concourse of the middle block and net that off.

The attendance quoted will be a bit less than that though as we don’t do what Stoke for example do and include STH’s in the total crowd whether they are there or not and also any Flex10’s.

In case any Newport fans on here might be going there will be some road closures I believe as this game also is coinciding with Burslem Carnival.

Only thing with the Hamil is toilets and things, if only one set then you can’t do it can you? Unless put portaloos in one concourse I suppose.

I can categorically say i am not now or ever have been connected in any way with some second rate striker from Hartlepool.

Can't see many making the trip! the fact that its a nothing game for us after our epic capitulation over the last 6 weeks will mean the vast majority that would have gone will now watch the game in the pubs and clubs of Newport 3-400 seems a bit steep! i would say half of that number.
