Yep, echo most of this. Only way to beat them is to play a high press style and try to put their defence under as much pressure as possible. We play the same standoff approach and we'll get absolutely hammered.

I wonder if Bell will be tempted to go to 3-5-2 to get more defensive players in to combat Wrexham's attack and system. Just think there are a lot of mismatches which have the potential to go against us. Our full back positions are a real weak spot, a revolving door at both positions. Who do we send up against McClean at RB/RWB? Cooney, who the manager doesn't seem to rate? Adebisi, who can't defend? Finney? Offord? Not ideal.

As you said, think the midfield has the potential to get overrun as well, the likes of Lee and Young could do some serious damage.

Like you I think it'll be a spanking for the reasons you mentioned, but if we can come away with a goal or two and a narrow defeat I'll take it.
DC talked after our 5-0 win about how he considered matching up with the 352 but in the end thought fuck it let’s concentrate on exposing their weaknesses rather than trying to get extra defenders in the box to deal with the long balls/long throws.

I’d be surprised if your manager watches the game at the weekend and decides to match up. If you can isolate pace against Boyle and Tozer you’re in business.

Looking at that table, we’ve only played one team in the bottom half of the division so some hope for us going forward that we can go on one of our long unbeaten runs at some point in the near future hopefully.

No idea what to expect from Accrington on Saturday as they seem wildly inconsistent.

It's what I'd do personally. We won't be able to keep them out at the other end, we haven't managed it with any other team yet. I really hope our manager goes for it. If he goes for it and we get hammered, I'll respect that. If he goes with the idea of trying to contain them and we lose, I'll be very annoyed.

Attack is the best way against us, no doubt. Not seen a team come to the Racecourse and properly sit back bus-parked and counter attack style yet, so managers have cottoned on it seems.

If teams sit back then we tend to bombard them at home and sooner or later one of the scramble balls into the box lands on someone's head and it's a goal.

You'll obviously attack us and it'll be carnage again. Looking forward to it.

We're the 2nd highest scorers in the league and Wrexham are the 3rd, plus Wrexham have conceded the 2nd most. So goals should definitely be on the cards. Gutted I couldn't get a ticket for this one, got the makings of a classic. I just get the feeling we will choke, we usually do in these sort of games.

Sutton at home for us - should be a local derby but it feels the same as any other game. Says a lot that that as it stands with ticket sales, the following week against Wrexham is nearly sold out whereas this one is no different to usual.
Thought this might have been the first time I’d see us odds on in a league game for as long as I can remember. However, Skybet still had us at 23/20 when I last looked so the wait goes on. In their defence, the researchers must know we’re yet to take a point off Sutton in 4 attempts or they watched us for the first half last week and gave up.
I have a bad feeling about this game which is no bad thing, if we do get the win all our players will be out next week with chronic nose bleeds

More cannon fodder for Notts, it never ends.

Just looked and they've got Vauxhall Motors the week after.

About time people realised the bottom 6 aren’t the bottom 6 because they’re bad teams but because they’ve all had a glimpse of Williamsball and their spirit and confidence was broken beyond repair

The game tonight going to penalties tops it even more in favour for gillingham saturday, though we’ve made it 12 unbeaten will it stand up to big spending gillingham.

If fit ollie clarke starting is a must.

Paul Hurst hadn’t cottoned onto that unfortunately.

Yet another tough game for us this weekend, this is the first time I can remember criticism of Hurst being so constructive and widespread. These are usually the games when we pull something out of our arse from nowhere, and Hurst really does need it.

Still likely to be without J Williams, Lapslie, Hawkins, Jeffries and Nichols still not fully fit.
Mansfield are so lucky with injuries.

A217 Derby. Except it's not a Derby.

That 5-0 v The Pies must seem a long time ago for Sutton. I do hope they turn it around but only after Saturday.

We have to stop conceding goals but continue to score...I suppose Sutton need to do the opposite...Our 3 defender system does give us plenty of options going forward but one defender makes a cock up and we are left badly exposed.

Sort of hoping Ransom comes back into the side as we could use his aerial power against Sutton.

Think we still got 7 out and had a very tough mid-week victory against Peterborough.

Still unbeaten and you expect that to end soon enough, I reckon a narrow defeat Saturday. Not played well in the league for a couple of games now.

Looking forward to seeing how many Mansfield attend a game that's more than 100 miles from home, as that's the real quiz.

We lost twice to them last season and were well beaten in both, but in true Mansfield style they bollocked up their play-off bid so we have to deal with them again this year. I imagine they'll be decent again this year but we can beat most on our day so this could go either way. By all accounts we weren't terrible at Doncaster, just missed our chances and Donny won it with a screamer.

B Team had a 4-1 win last night, good minutes for Nadesan, Clarke and Jefferies, although the latter is still a work in progress injury wise. The other two will almost certainly play at the weekend though in some capacity. Rest of the side is a little up in the air still, I imagine only Turner, Malone and arguably Mahoney are certainties to start which is a little odd this far into the season.

Yep as Lew says we strayed from a system that was working to match them up and it massively backfired with getting our arses handed to us. Big tactical clanger from Hursty, especially considering he went there and played his own system a year and a bit ago and beat them.

Onto this weekend and this is exactly the type of match that Hurst lives for. Some fans on his back a bit, seemingly out of form, squad a bit thin...smacks of a classic 0-1 if ever I saw one.

Would be nice to right last season's horror show too, hands down the worst away day of the season that one.

Fully realise that we're like the Mansfield lot with their injuries banging on about our tough start but it's quite obscene, only played one team currently in the bottom half and Swindon will be 7th of the current top 8. Thankfully it subsides after this one.

It's because you're naughty boys. With interest in Wrexham having gone off the scale the last 18 months or so what kind of gates do you reckon you'd be getting if everybody could get a ticket? 14 or 15,000?

Reckon we'd be pushing sellout crowds if we had the Kop built, which would bring capacity up to 16k.

Just hope we don't give the entirity of the stand currently behind the goal to away fans.

Have to give 10% by EFL rules and regulations so unless you expand the area given where we are on Saturday for away fans I don't think you'll have much of an alternative.

If you ground held 16k, you'd have to give away fans at least 1.6k going off EFL rules.

Edit: TNO beat me to it.

Couple of season rattling around in L2 will soon see your attendances drop to 7000 odd. You won’t need that stand at all. Keep your ground as it is.

Weve kept our ground untouched for many a year and see where that’s got us.

oh shit . . .

I know, I'm hoping we figure an alternative or split the area behind the goal. Giving 1200 more than we need to away when home fans are struggling for tickets seems daft.

For the FA Cup, you have to give away 15% so for cup matches you may well have to give the entirety of the stand away for those.

As said earlier in the week after an extra game tuesday night which went to penalties and the long trip down to kent anything other than a win for big spending gillingham would be a real surprise, realistically they’ll be firm favourites and this will be a real test of our unbeaten record.

the last 2 performances away at colchester and barrow have been relatively poor and i imagine a combination of all the above will sadly see a defeat

I've got some great news for you Adam, a quick check confirms that every single listed online bookmaker in fact makes Mansfield the clear favourites for this weekends fixture at Gillingham. They have likely factored in that Mansfield have remained unbeatable so far this season, and disregarded road miles.

In fact my favourite bookmaker is offering a healthy 2/1 on Gillingham being the first side to do what nobody before has achieved this season.

Time to crack open that money box chap.

You're welcome.

And that shows what they know about league 2, they know little and come up with random stuff. i mean they have you favourites to win the league for starters  .

Gillingham are 2/1 on sky sports which is ridiculous.

I do of course hope, that for once i’m wrong.

It's certainly surprisingly generous odds for a home side in their league position but you are asking them to do something that no L2 has managed, nor L1 or Championship sides.

Its not even close as ridiculous as you suggesting that Gills should be firm favourites even with that huge extra exertion of winning a penalty shootout and driving all those motorway miles.

Get that 2/1 bet on before they realise their mistake, or maybe instead lump on the double (Home / draw).

I'm sticking with my season long bets before a ball was kicked Stockport to win it, Mansfield Top 3 and Mansfield Promoted. Happy with how it's progressing so far.

We're not coming close to winning the title, still not sorted out the problem areas from the end of last season. This little run is still papering over some big holes.
