We're not coming close to winning the title, still not sorted out the problem areas from the end of last season. This little run is still papering over some big holes.
Surprised at that, last week barring the exception but I would expect to see you rise up the league. Louis Barrie is an exceptional player who quite frankly shouldn't be in this league, but a lot higher!

A fair few players missing from your line up to come back in the fold, you'd be alright from where i'm sitting.

It's certainly surprisingly generous odds for a home side in their league position but you are asking them to do something that no L2 has managed, nor L1 or Championship sides.

Its not even close as ridiculous as you suggesting that Gills should be firm favourites even with that huge extra exertion of winning a penalty shootout and driving all those motorway miles.

Get that 2/1 bet on before they realise their mistake, or maybe instead lump on the double (Home / draw).

I'm sticking with my season long bets before a ball was kicked Stockport to win it, Mansfield Top 3 and Mansfield Promoted. Happy with how it's progressing so far.

Hopefully you’re right! i really hope you are.

Just can’t see it sadly.

I think they’ll come good too, they did last season, you’d be looking at your stockport’s/MK/gillingham to be up the top, but it’s certainly an open league.

Not looking forward to coming up against the biggest spenders in the league, would take a draw but can see our unbeaten record finally coming to an end

It is a concern that let’s say DKD (Lapslie replacement) plays brilliantly they may come and offer double what we are willing in January alongside a six figure fee.

It's fine, don't worry.

Talk down chances, give reasons, predict a defeat, then show off about winning, it's what football fans on the internet do.

It's an (internet) tale as old as time.

Be interesting to see our game with Mansfield next week. Don't really know what to expect as the way we are at the moment, wouldn't be surprised to come away with nothing short of a defeat. We seem to crumble to teams at the top or who run at us.

Lets get the weekend out the way though.

Obviously we were much improved last weekend but generally speaking, our home performances under Hughes have been diabolical.

Midweek was a step backwards just because of how we approached the game, even though it was against higher level opposition.

Cook and Pattison fit to start it seems so that's a big boost but as always it depends on how negative Hughes sets us up.

With no J Williams, Lapalie or Jeffries in particular, I am not at all confident and will not be touching the 2-1.

Quite like to see the same team that started against Newport. Hoping McDonald features. Tulloch impressed me in the last two games so hoping he also starts.

For the FA Cup, you have to give away 15% so for cup matches you may well have to give the entirety of the stand away for those.
Yeah but I'm on about league games.

Probably be entire behind the goal for the cup.

Yep, playing Mansfield these days is a huge scouting opportunity for us.

Can’t see a Gills win though mind.

My DKD>Lapslie analysis is going pretty well thus far.

Part of being in L2 for so long, you really can tell who’s a better L2 player :D

Are Hawkins and Lapslie not available Saturday?

Hawkins is unlikely to play this year, Laps has pulled a hamstring so may or may not be fit in time (probably not would be my guess).

That is a bummer on hawkins as he’s brilliant in both boxes.

Tulloch is young but needs to learn to look up. While he was trying to beat the whole Boro defence, Pattison was standing on his own near the far post.

Something called plantar facilitis, no way of knowing how or what caused it, or any real idea of when he might be better either.

How do Mansfield curse all these players? Is there something opposite to lucky heather?

I’ve always maintained we’re cursed, the constant crap draws in cups….

We could be 10 points clear in february and the season would be stopped by an outbreak of war, or some mega covid would break out

It’s bloody awful, I got training for a marathon. Problem is once you’ve got it, it can come back at anytime

Pretty shit condition from what I’ve heard, he tried to play in midweek but came off in tears. Really feel sorry for the guy and anyone else who suffers from it

Tranmere at home. They're poor but I'm pretty sure we're cursed at Plough Lane.

I've seen five of our matches this season including Newport away. I've witnessed four draws and one loss. I'll take a point although I'm hoping for three.

I've not seen a home win since Stockport at home in January.

How has Williams been so far this season LW?
He has been in and out of the side to be honest mate.
When he plays I really like him. Half of the problem is mentally he is half a yard ahead of his teammates.
Harris finally played him in his best position against Morecombe, in an advanced position behind the front man and him and Lapslie linked really well. Sods law they have both been injured since.
I think he is important to how we play because without him we have mainly defensive midfielders (apart from Jeffries, who is also injured).
Really nice guy too.

Agree with that, we haven't really played a system that suits him too well yet but you can tell he's a good player. We need to find a shape for the side that gets him on the ball in areas that his quick thinking and technical ability is best used, which isn't collecting the ball off the centre backs and trying to play from deep.

It's often called Policeman's heel. It's the bone, tendons at the back of your foot and when you walk it hurts to buggery

Fixed mine with physio but it took a while.

We’ve lost all 5 of our home games and Morecambe have lost all 3 away. Doesn’t bode well given our last 2 home games were against Crewe and Doncaster, neither who had won away until they played at ‘Fortress’ New Lawn.

Cheers. (and Joe) i think his best position is probably as a 10 or as an advanced 8. He has a terrific ability to be able to time a run late into the box so has great anticipation.

I actually think Dan Kemp is possibly an upgrade on Williams so the move has suited all parties I guess. (fully aware Kemp is only a loan player and could be recalled in January) Yeah I've also heard great feedback about Jonny off the field so that's positive to read also.
