Well that escalated quickly didnt it? Thought it was all winding down and then joethegill goes and slags off Paul Cook and if you're familiar with a Chesterfield RATTLING then you know that that signals time to go and put the popcorn on. Nobody puts Cooky in the corner. Excellent stuff all round.

In all seriousness, I can see both sides of the argument to be fair. Gillingham are becoming masters of getting to the top of the division for the first couple of months by winning every game 1-0 and should be credited for that, but similarly I can't see Chesterfield drawing many blanks this season. Sounds like Gillingham got away with it a bit but they've become a bit of a horrible team to play at their place over recent seasons so this isn't exactly a freak showing.

Fantastic win for Grimsby. I rate Bradford too.

Have I got it wrong on David Artell I wonder? It would be a massive, massive rarity for me to have got one wrong so I do have to be cautious.
I think what you got wrong is posting about him so much. Could have sat back and just observed matters unfolding instead of nailing your colours right at the top of the anti-Artell mast along with loads of Mansfield fans weirdly. One match doesn't prove anything though, still a load of red flags however we are looking very much like we're progressing and moving in the right direction (which of course isn't too difficult the season after you almost get relegated).

Nothing much to say , should have won, played better than we have in the last three games , didn't think much of County to be honest. Bit like Chesterfield, think you are better than you are.
Yes you should of won a sign of a good team play shite away from home and still win no 2 first choice midfielder's and first choice striker in the team yesterday the difference was yesterday was old man mcgoldrick rolling back the years and you had harry smith enough said

That was sort of my point, you don't have a plan B when plan A doesn't work. You just try it over and over and in the National League you won a lot of games late through sheer persistence. I don't think that'll work as much a level up. We're more malleable in the sense that we play differently depending who we're against - we would've been stupid to go toe to toe with you today, rather let you do your thing and trust our defence to keep you out which we were able to do with a bit of fortune thrown in. We'll probably play differently next week.

On the entertainment thing, I've seen many sides come here and knock the ball about with wonderful technical ability and all the rest of it and go home with nothing because they can't put the ball in the net. Entertaining football is winning football, and I don't really mind how we play as long as we win as you say.
Defences don't buckle as easily, keepers are a level better too.
You can play like Chesterfield. / Notts and go up but you have to upgrade your players to pretty much L1 standard to get there.

He’s just talking out his arse mate and he’s being corrected that’s all
I think he's pretty much spot on in his assessment. He nailed us before a ball was kicked last season and is always worth a read.
No disgrace losing at Gillingham, they were solid in defence last season and have a more positive manager and better forward line this season. Think they're going up.

He's correct in some respect but not others. Like all of us, I guess.

My take on the game for what it’s worth, which isn’t much.
Chesterfield looked a good side and I understand why they feel hard done by coming away with nothing yesterday.
They did hit the woodwork three times and dominated possession for large periods of the game.
We also hit the woodwork twice and had what I thought were two very good penalty appeals turned down.
We are a very resilient side and now have more options in the final third than we had last season
We are dealing with a long injury list, as many of are.
We have all seen games where we were the better side for much of the match and ended up losing. It sucks but it’s football.
It is way to early to make any assumptions about the final league standings, but having said that, I will be very surprised if Chesterfield aren’t there abouts come the end of the season.

Don't worry, no one is perfect. Even Artell said before the game that Bradford had the best team in the league.

We still have a long way to go though, despite being far better we were hanging on at the end. We still look suspect defensively and make silly mistakes in the final third. We are very much work in progress and hopefully it continues and we can make a promotion push next season.

Artell says all sorts of things he probably doesn't mean. I don't think Bradford have the best or even second best team in the division.

It's slightly frustrating to be honest. It was a pretty even game but Donny look like a team that are used to each other and look like they knew their jobs. You can tell we have good players in fits and starts but it's all a bit messy and disorganised. Donny looked like they were just organised with or without the ball. Not breathtaking but just well organised.

They've also got Molyneux who is probably one of the best players in the division.

When we clicked it looked good but the defending for the goal was naive. The press was awful and we left so much space.

I'm pretty sure it will come good at some point but I'm not sure how patient some of our fans are going to remain. I'm not sure these tactics are working.

Still, only 4 games in and players returning and getting fitter. Long, long way to go yet.
Think it was more that you played into our hands. Still not sure we’ve got the right balance in midfield yet or the right central defence partnership. Definitely a game we would have lost last year so the improvement is coming.

I think he said squad rather than team, but accept even that is debateable

Would love to hear from a Swindon fan after today's game. Just one would suffice.
Thought your side played well, especially first half. Best we have played this season and certainly a top 7 finish is on the cards once we integrate all of the new players in what is a completely new team. Only 4 of our 15 that were on the field today were with us last season. Oh and Jodie Jones. Great player for this level but what a whinging twat!

We need a new keeper for starters as he is gash.
Seems to have a cock up in him most games.

He is but that's very likely because loads average players for this level who simply can't handle him continually foul him.

I bet it gets boring and frustrating but understandable against the best assister in L2.

Fair play to you sir, a honest assessment and one I completely agree with. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Yeah. I'm not sure playing a high line against Molyneux is a smart idea. We also kept trying to press but missing the challenge or interception. It just looked like you were more familiar with what you were doing and how you play, whereas it was very bitty from us. In fairness, I think we had 9 new players in the team compared to last season and it shows.

Last 10 minutes gave a bit of an insight into what it could be like once it all gels but I fear we might have too much to make up by then.

Apparently it was a Tranmere fan who had been denied entry (drunk I presume) who climbed onto the roof of the Waterworks End.

Deja-vu for the likes of AdamStag and Conker

I remember that day well! ironically our last season in league 1, think we got relegated that day - fun times!

I just don’t rate him as a manager and think he is a freak too.

Thanks for the updates, unless we get a sudden injury crisis or they want to see him play at a higher level, I don’t see any reason why not as long as he’s getting game time, I know he’s highly thought of and has not looked out of place when he’s played in our first team.

What is about people from Birkenhead and climbing football stadiums, must be the spice.

Was more entertaining than anything going on on the pitch... the police were just watching him... having presumably decided they didn't have the necessary health and safety to go up there after him as he took his clothes off and just sunbathed.

Been starting centre mid as Platt and Leesley injured. Been outstanding last 3 games - really seems to have gained confidence, always looking for the ball, and been excellent at breaking up opposition play. Would love to keep him for the season.

Have never agreed with the 'sign of a good team playing shite and still winning ' theory. Sign of a lucky team maybe.
