Crawley have been around since, at least, 1896 and our trophy cabinet didn't exist. When I started watching we had a note in the program to say we had won the Sussex Professional Cup in 1970 (beating Brighton 1-0 in the final). Whoopee do!

Thankfully it has improved since with 5 (??) trophies but we still have never played at Wembly (or Cardiff). That means I will nearly always lose in a willy waving competition but there are only three other clubs here who have won the biggest trophy in World football so nuh!

We won the welsh cup...............................once...................................................a long time ago, we beat shrewsbury in the final, that must have been the year when the welsh border was just outside birmingham think it was around bromsgrove.
Still!! we had great fun in the old european cup winners cup, made the quarter final and got screwed by a dopey danish ref.

whose concert did you watch?
Jesus Christ - you're like a broken record now.

We get it - Bolton are a bigger club than Cheltenham Town. Must be embarrassing that a club of such stature is below us in the League.

For clarity though - Cheltenham Town played at the old Wembley in 1998, the Millennium Stadium twice (2002 and 2006) and then the new Wembley in 2012.

You're right it's not the equivalent - it's much better. I don't see those achievements in a trophy cabinet.

Regardless of what you think of the FA Cup it is the Premier cup competition in England. Ask a Wigan fan if it wasn't the greatest day in the football supporting lives.

Hell, ask Birmingham fans if they would have preferred staying in the Premier League to winning the Carling Cup in 2011 - I'll save your couple of brain cells from trying to formulate an answer - the answer is absolutely not. A friend of mine went to that final and had a great time, the next year he went to Belgium and a couple of other places in a VW Camper to watch Championship Birmingham in Europe and absolutely loved it. Also Birmingham got to put a trophy in their cabinet.

No-one, despite Masi's weird protestations, disputes that Bolton are a big club who have a great history of winning things 60-130 years ago. But you can't criticise a team who have won more than you in recent history.
No one is disputing that Wigan fans think it was the greatest day in their History, it's the only thing they have won period, of course it's still regarded as the premier cup competition, but you know full well it's not what it used to be due to the greed of the premier league.

Every club strives for Premiership football it's a cash cow, we played in 2 league cup Finals and 1 FA cup semi at Wembley, Does that equate to the joy i had on seeing JJ, Campo, Djorkeaf, Anelka etc etc hell no. 12 years at the top table is recent history the reason clubs in league two think we are a big deal is nothing to do with 60 years ago. It's because kids today remember we played premiership football for a long period in this millenium.

What you have pointed out is that we have a tremendous history before 2000 and what i have pointed out is that we have a very solid recent history Also 3 Championship play off finals again recent. Just to refresh your memory we are also a founder member of the football league and won the First ever FA cup final played at wembley in front of over 120,000 fans The White horse final. These are the reasons we feel we are a significant club. Your Birmingham mate may well have enjoyed is European tour, ask him if he would have preferred qualifying through the premiership table has we did twice, he might change his mind.

He really wouldn't, and you're helping me make my point.

Those cup semi-finals and league cup final - how much better would they have been had you won? Getting to a final is all well and good, but when you lose it, then it doesn't mean the same. Had Bolton beat Stoke in 2011 and then Man City in the final, then it would rank so much higher in your memories. Instead, Bolton's big days out, save for two of the three Division One playoff finals, have resulted in failure.

As it is, what you have to cling on to is finishing 6th and 7th in the Premier League - a great achievement no doubt, but doesn't add to that trophy cabinet does it?

I also understand about Bolton's history, as I keep reiterating, no-one questions Bolton's size. What we question is the Billy Big Bollocks attitude of a couple on here who continue to look down their noses at the rest of us. We've all read about the White Horse Final, but no-one alive now will have witnessed it. Hell, you're starting to get to a point where very few people will remember Bolton winning a major trophy, what with it being 63 years ago.

Good to see Masi51 is taking my advice about thinking before he posts and to try and not be arrogant or obnoxious.
Oh well I tried anyway.

God knows what will happen on Saturday. We HAVE to win and if we turn up with a similar performance to what we gave at Cambridge a few weeks back, I can see us winning. Bolton will play on the front foot, which will suit us, but they’ve been on amazing form so I expect most neutrals would pick a home win.

Knowing us, we’ll win on Saturday and then lose home to Barrow on the final day.

Bingo. Constantly mocking and sneering at literally every other club and individual fans on here, one comment back and he violently shits himself in indignation.

Pathetic, sad individual who brings the derision on himself. Clearly not much else going on at home to crow about.
here you come....set my alarm by your appearances here.......
Full of shit as per usual

Maybe you need to have a long hard look at yourself and realise that we are not the problem, you are.
I threw you a bit of an olive branch earlier yet you have shown your true colours by just carrying on the same with your snidey arrogant posts to all and everybody.
You are just beyond help sadly.

Jimmy Ball says we’re in ‘fight mode’ now, and that the pressure is off us now we’re chasing rather then trying to hold on to a playoff place.

He also says it’s a clash between the youngest and oldest teams in the division, no idea if that’s true but if it is maybe we can outrun Tranmere and tire them out.

Our squad is not that old to be honest. I think people have that impression because some of our bigger name players are getting on a bit, such as Peter Clarke (39), Liam Feeney (34) and David Nugent (36), although the latter does not always start games.

The majority of our regulars are in their mid twenties or younger, and Spearing and Vaughan are in their early thirties, so not particularly old by modern standards.

You can take it easy on Saturday though, realistically you aren’t going to make the top 3 or drop out of the playoffs. No need to go all out, rest the older lads and give the kids a game ;)

If we are talking about prestigic cup trophies then Mansfield’s 5-1 win against Rainworth Miners Welfare in the Green Energy Cup final takes some beating.
I will raise you the Copa Ibiza winners 2003/04 where we beat the might of SD Portmany 1-0 in the semi final before destroying San Rafael 1-0 in the final.

If only you could be veiwed as the same stature as Stoke City, ? when your honors board includes the Anglo Italian cup and Champions of Division three (North) now that is under achieving.
Nice of you to be bothered to check.

Didn’t check very well as we didn’t win the Anglo Italian cup... only finalists and missed the two Associate Members Cups (Papa John’s currently)

The lardies have won one major trophy... so not far behind!

2 Football Conference/National League trophies
2 Football League Playoff trophies
1 FA Trophy
34 Gloucestershire Senior Cup trophies
1 Football Conference runner's up trophy (apparently they did this in 1998)
1 Southern League Trophy
1 Southern League Runner's Up trophy (maybe it was 90s thing - we won it in 1997)
1 Southern League Midland Division Winner's Trophy
1 Southern League Cup
3 Midland Floodlit Cups (nope, me neither)

I'd swap all of them for the FA Cup.

He really wouldn't, and you're helping me make my point.

Look we can agree to disagree, we are all defensive about our clubs that's why we are fans, i take your point about us not winning those games, i didn't come on here to disrespect other clubs, i only know that what i outlined about the FA Cup today is true and very sad to see, I also think it,s a fantastic achievment for you this season and i wish you well next season i hope we join you and renew our brief rivalry.

One thing i do know is that ask a Bolton fan of most ages what they enjoyed and made them proud, was the fact that Little Bolton (see it's all relative to the division you play in) bloodied the noses of Wengar and Ferguson on a regular basis under Allerdyce. In the Prem we were the minnows no "Billy Big Bollocks" in terms of a major trophy i can see that but again it's all relative we have won the Championship etc a big deal to us just like you winning the Southern League Championshiop. Despite saying well done i still hope you lose on Saturday and we pip you to the Title lol i and yes i would swap places at this moment in time

Not sure you're posting on the right sub section of the forum.
Where would you want him to post about games on Saturday May 1st apart from the thread titled Saturday May 1st?
The Tory scumbags profiteering from the pandemic thread.
The "Who decorated your flat and who paid for it?" thread.
The "Holy crap your nanny looks scary and don't you think you are a bit old for one now Jacob" thread.

I'm unsure that we're the oldest team in L2, the average age of our likely starting xi (I've assumed Nugent will start this one) is 29.6.

Not sure whether we'll set out full blast to try and win this, as most Rovers fans including myself would want, or recognising that the chances of an automatic spot are slim go for the point that guarantees us a play-off spot. In the entertaining home fixture, we were probably more comfortable winners than the 3-2 score line suggests, though given a scary time after Matt came on. With both sides suffering significant injuries since then, not an easy game to call.

I see we got an honourable mention on there, genuinely surprised we weren't the youngest team.
