Never saw last night's game but by all accounts it was an excellent performance and makes you wonder where it was during during games against Aberdeen and Kilmarnock recently. Defoe on the scoresheet which will do his confidence the world of good especially as he looks to be the main striker with Morelos out for another 3 games. On to Motherwell on Sunday & hopefully the same level of display.

Morelos is a liability Leo. Rangers played better after he was sent off on Sunday. Defoe will always score goals and the bonus is that he's unlikely to get sent off every month.

Well that was a decent game yesterday away to Motherwell, a very professional performance and pleasing on the eye. Surprisingly Celtic only drew at home against Livingston on Saturday, not that it makes any difference as to where the title will be going, which allowed Rangers to close the gap by two points but more importantly imo, to keep the 8 point lead we have over Kilmarnock and Aberdeen. As it turned out Motherwell were poor and we came away with all 3 points thanks to a 0-3 victory courtesy of a hat trick from Scott Arfield who had an excellent game. Although he didn't score, Defoe played well and beautifully set up Arfield for his 3rd in the second half rather than being greedy and chancing a shot. I doubt that Morelos would have passed to Arfield if he had been in that position. Hopefully Defoe retains the position after Morelos' ban is up in two games. Unfortunately once again off field antics were to the fore again due to the group of Motherwell fans who congregate at the far end of their stand next to the away end. A lighter, coins and a bloody scotch pie were thrown at James Tavernier as he was going to take a shy. Arseholes who don't deserve the title of supporters. And as usual Police and stewards were too late in appearing which I really don't understand as it is always this area these clowns congregate at. On a personal note the result was excellent for me as I had a nice bet on over 2.5 goals.

The day previous was the Edinburgh derby at Tynecastle which Hibs won 1-2 and before the game even started Hearts arseholes threw a flare on to the pitch and this was replicated by Hibs idiots who threw a green one on.....accompanied by a coconut ffs! Sections of the football community up here are going mad. This has been a very bad season for idiotic behaviour in the stands and someone is going to end up seriously hurt unless some positive action is taken at the time. The item throwing at Tynecastle was quite ironic actually as prior to the game it had been said on radio that searches for illegal items would be stepped up before entry was allowed. Not stepped up enough it seems!

Another excellent performance yesterday away at Tynecastle. Again, very professional and with Defoe coming in for Morelos (still suspended and one more game to go...against Aberdeen at Ibrox next Sunday) the style has had to be changed and it certainly has been successful with Scott Arfield supplementing Defoe up front whilst covering the left of midfield also. Rangers first came from a great tackle by Flanagan in the centre of the park and Defoe running through to score with a fine shot. Second, again a Hearts player dithering and Candeias fed Ryan Jack who scored. Third, a cross from Davis and knocked in by Katic at the back post. Hearts pulled one back thanks to Flanagan not marking Steven McLean leaving him free to knock in a header. Apart from a short spell 2nd half, Hearts were rarely in the game which surprised me. MOTM for me was Scott Arfield with Ryan Jack again dominating midfield. If Tavernier leaves at any point, Jack has to be the new captain.

Billy McNeill, former Celtic captain & Scottish internationalist passed away on Monday evening. He had suffered from dementia for some years. Billy was 79 years of age. This man was a true Celtic legend and was respected by both players and fans alike of all clubs. Of course there was one exceptional highlight in his illustrious career, this being in 1967 when he became the first British football club captain to hold aloft the European Cup having beaten Inter Milan 2-1 in the final.

Rest easy Mr McNeill.

And unfortunately, a day or two later another Celtic great, Lisbon Lion and scorer of the winning goal in the final against Inter Milan.....Stevie Chalmers also passed away aged 83. That's a good few of theses guys from a fantastic team who have died. Doubt if there will ever be a team to rival them. RIP Mr Chalmers.

Beat Aberdeen 2-0 at Ibrox on Sunday in which was quite a frustrating game for Rangers due to Aberdeen's resistance to actually playing football and content to camp in their own half with the odd breakaway. Plus they slowed the game down at every opportunity....shys, goal kicks etc and their players seemed to drop like flies but then were running about like Usain Bolt after being seen by the physio. Rangers did have several good chances but some great stops by Joe Lewis kept the score at 0-0 half time. Second half started good with a clear cut penalty for the Gers which Tavernier converted. A second penalty followed a bit later which Tavernier again put away but truth be told it was a soft decision....you get some, you don't....I'll take it though. Hibs at home next Sunday.

1-0 win at Ibrox last Sunday. Got to give Hibs credit, at least they tried to play decent football unlike that shower the week before. First half was decent enough with a good few chances but Gers went in at halftime one goal in front. It was an excellent move and a great wee pass by Davis for Defoe to score the only goal of the game. Second half was really dire and to compound matters our goalie Allan McGregor totally lost it when he followed through from a kick out and kicked the back of a Hibs player who had been trying to hinder his upfield punt. Idiotic in the extreme and he was correctly sent off so the clown will miss Sunday's game against Celtic.

Was I on a high or what on Sunday. I know Celtic won the league and have been the best over the season but that display from Rangers was brilliant and what I would loved to have seen more often in games where we have dropped stupid points. And once again Defoe led the line superbly and was unfortunate not to score at least one. To coin a a couple of phrases....Celtic weren't at the races and we ate them up and spat them out. The team have really adapted to this system since Morelos has been out and Scott Arfield was immense as was Ryan Jack (future Gers captain in my opinion and also a lot of Bears) and the young centre back Katic. Tavernier's freekick in the 1st minute was beautifully flighted and ended up in the net. 1-0 Rangers....after that Rangers dominated the game and a brilliant move in the 2nd half involving Kamara (another excellent misfield performance), Defoe, dummied the ball for Arfield to sweep in the 2nd goal. Great game from a bluenose perspective and we finish in 2nd spot. Last game Sunday coming against Killie away.

For next season we have Jordan Jones and Jake Hastie coming in, couple of excellent prospects and with perhaps 2 or 3 more decent signings....well, who knows!

As you know I have little interest in International football but he has certainly performed miracles at Kilmarnock. He may not be the most endearing of chaps but he knows his onions. If he achieves with Scotland what he did with Killie, in a playing manner, then he 'should' do well but it depends on the players available but he turned around the attitude and performance at Killie so he has a good possibility in doing it with the international team.

Not a lot to say about last Sunday's game at Rugby Park. Terrible performance. From the high of beating Celtic the week before to the rock bottom low of losing 2-1 to Killie. I really am perplexed at how we've let Killie become our bogey team. I've said before fro some reason Rangers look far from comfortable on their pitch and always look 2nd best. Not making excuses but the penalty Killie got to win the game was soft but hey ho./...you get some, some you don't.....however, if Collum gave them a penalty for a slight tug then he should most certainly have given us one for Broadfoot's blatant tug on Goldson earlier....oh and Collum also ignored a blatant handball by Burk even before that denying another penalty.
And to rub salt into the wounds he booked Morelos after he equalised at 1-1 for his celebration of......holding his hands up in the direction of Killie supporters and making a movement with them/fingers as if to keep talking. Fucking preposterous but remember this was the ref who gave a 2nd yellow to Candeias for blowing kisses at a St Mirren player. What a fucking joke the man is!

My concern as a Celtic supporter is that if Rangers can avoid their constant losing to Killie and Aberdeen they will be a force next season. In both games at Celtic Rangers played fairly well and were only undone by stupid errors and Morelos. I've been told by a Liverpool/Rangers supporter who knows Gerrard quite well that Rangers will be getting some very good loan players from Liverpool next season. Celtic need to get spending some of the money that's accumulated over the years.

You're not far wrong there RB. Although we didn't win silverware this season I personally have been impressed by what Stevie Gerrard has done....he has the team believing and has changed the lax attitude. As you say, if only we could stop dropping silly points.
Scottish press has mentioned a lad...Ojo ? Hope to hell we get Kent back on loan...he's said he loves it at the club but has a £12 mill price tag....a tad out of our budget....
Still, hopefully more progress next season....onwards & upwards.

As the upcoming season approaches, last night saw the Europa League qualifiers commence. Gerrard has brought in Jordan Jones, Jake Hastie, Joe Aribo from Charlton & Sheyi Ojo on loan from Liverpool & central defender George Edmundson. We also have Jamie Murphy back from injury. A decent enough squad so fingers crossed it will be good enough to put in a stronger challenge than last season by stopping dropping senseless points. Anyway, last night.....had to listen to radio commentary as I refuse to subscribe to Premier Sports. First half was quite cagey (wonder if it had anything to do with St Joseph's shitey plastic pitch?) but what a change in the 2nd which resulted in four goals hitting the back of the net. Tbh it could have been a training exercise and a win was to be expected but they wee teams can sometimes bite you on the arse so it was good to hear that it was a good, professional display. Game is on Freesports @ 3pm this afternoon so I'll watch it then.

To be fair it’s probably like their first pre-season friendly, CQ were kicking lumps out of them and they still haven’t replaced Jones, Tshbola, Boyd and Mulumbu to name a few. Where did you watch it on?

Is there a single nation in European competition that ritually humiliates itself as much as Scotland do?

I don't rate the Scottish leagues at the best of times, but they have a high enough budget to be competitive in the first few rounds and the number of times they've embarrassed themselves against part-timers is beyond belief.

All that hard work last season wasted...

And it won't help Celtic and Rangers in terms of the Scottish co-fed seeing Kille going out so early.
