Killie knocked out. Shocking, Kille manager already under pressure?

Doubt it, Scottish teams have exited Europe to teams from Malta and Armenia in recent years, it's not surprising. The teams with lower budgets seem to throw their games to concentrate on the league, St Johnstone are another one.

I watched Killie's away game last week. Connah's Quay looked to be around English step 3 standard, but Killie just dithered all game and only got out of first gear once the Nomads scored.

Fair play to Rangers and Aberdeen who at least appear to take it somewhat seriously, but Scottish football can't afford tinpot outfits like St Johnstone and Killie messing up the coefficient.

All that hard work last season wasted...

And it won't help Celtic and Rangers in terms of the Scottish co-fed seeing Kille going out so early.

Bad news in Europa League terms as they only need to move up one spot for 2nd place/Cup winners to enter a round later, but they're 11 spots off getting their second CL spot back and I can't see that happening until at least the 2030s, quite frankly.

So Kilmarnock miss the chance to get destroyed by Partizan, bet they're gutted.

That’s about right, maybe top of Step 3/bottom of Step 2, but Kille are IMO League 1-2 standard and should have easily dispatched Connahs Quay.

A decent run out against Marseilles last Sunday with another 4 goals to boost the confidence then on to the 2nd leg against St Josephs at Ibrox where we won 6-0....another confidence booster I'd imagine. I haven't seen the game but from all accounts it was a better 2nd half than first with Morelos getting a hattrick. Anyway, start of the domestic season isn't far away & I'm feeling confident that we can push Celtic closer this season. Daniel Candeias is being touted with a move to Turkey which he would accept apparently as Gerrard cannot guarantee him a start every week and paper talk this morning is that Eintracht Frankfurt are ready to bid for Morelos......as I said....paper talk, need to wait and see.

Okay, after successfully negotiating the first two Europa league qualifiers it's back to league business today. Gers start their campaign at Rugby Park which was a bit of a bogey last season so I'm hoping that a much better showing will be the order of the day. I'm feeling 'reasonably' confident that we can push Celtic even closer this season and not drop silly points to teams that should really be beaten but's football....take nowt for granted. Anyway, I'm liking the look of the squad especially with Ojo and Aribo arriving. After Celtic destroying St Johnstone yesterday a win against Kilmarnock would be just fine.

I was certainly looking for a far better performance than that....by God it was hard going and harder watching. An early goal by Scotty Arfield so there's me thinking...Right pile it on but no, for some reason it was monotonous possession football which I detest. This team are far better than that so why that play was the order of the day beats me. Anyway Killie equalised 2nd half and it took a last gasp winner from a Goldson header to secure the three points. A wins a win but the team will have to show more. The sooner they plastic shite pitches are banned the better!

Felt like a rerun of a Rangers game from last season, lacking creativity and imagination in the final third, struggling to break down weaker opposition, especially considering this Kilmarnock side isn't the same as last season. Be interesting to see how they get on against the Danes on Thursday night, definitely a tie they can slip up in.

As I said in my previous post Liam, I was looking for more and that the team are far better than what happened on Sunday and that was proved last night over in Denmark. From what I've read and part I heard on radio last night that display was more like it apart from a 6 minute dip of concentration allowing the Danes to nick a couple but thankfully Scott Arfield scored a fourth to give us a huge advantage going into the 2nd leg next week. Home game against Hibs on Sunday and hoping for more of the same....apart from defensive blips!

Watched the full game, Rangers were class but got sloppy for a few minutes at 3-0 and it could have cost them. Morelos was immense up top, Aribo looks like an unreal signing, Jack and Jones had good games too. Midtylland need a 3 goal win at Ibrox next week and that's never going to happen, one of the best results Rangers have had in years the Danes are no mugs. Aberdeen lost to Rijeka though, not really a surprise they've just not got the quality once it gets to the 3rd round stage and the opposition improves.

Brilliant performance yesterday. That was more like it. A positive attitude again, forcing the game, great goals and a helluva lot of other chances and believe it or not apart from one blip that led to Rangers 1st goal the Hibs goalie Marciano had a fine game with some wonderful saves. Wee Defoe still manages to defy Father Time and bagged a hattrick, Morelos, when he came on got a couple and new lad Ojo got one. Hopefully this kind of attitude & performance will be kept up. A special word for a couple of players....Jordan Jones....brilliant and once again Ryan Jack in midfield was outstanding....if Tavernier ever leaves then Jack is captain material imo! Having given a bit extra praise for these Jones & Jack the entire team was fantastic.

More Champions league disappointment for Celtic.

Giving away 4 at home isn't going to get you far .

Celtic's central defence is weak albeit they splashed out a few bob for a couple of new boys who play that position. I watched their game at Motherwell last weekend and they were unbelievably slack especially at both goals they lost....so tbh I'm not surprised at them losing goals (didn't think it would be four mind you)....Thing is neither Jullien (spelling) and Bollingoli the new guys were starters on Tuesday. I honestly believe Celtic took the cheap option in re-signing Neil Lennon to replace Brendan Rogers instead of going for a class signing.

By all accounts and reports I have read that was a fine performance and victory last night....3-1. Now we're into the play off to go into the group stage. Legia Warsaw....first leg in Warsawland. No league game this weekend as it is the League Cup ties.

Celtic have regressed, poor result the other night and they'll probably find it tough in the Europa League play off, Rangers also have a tough game but have momentum behind them, think both will qualify and both will struggle to make it through the group.

A win in the League Cup on Sunday away to East Fife on another shit pitch. Goals from Defoe, Helander and Aribo sealed a 0-3 win. That lad Aribo has done well since joining and was my MOTM. He has skill, aggression and likes a pop on goal...a fine signing for us. We've also added Brandon Barker from Man City who I thought done well any time I seen him in Hibs games when he was on loan there. The draw for the next round wasn't favourable though...away (again) to Livingston on a shit plastic pitch (again). Big game tomorrow... away leg of the Europa league play off against Legia Warsaw. Fingers crossed.

An away win against St Mirren last Sunday proved to be a stuffy affair due to Saints defensive tactics. I'm not criticising them for that but I honestly found it strange with them being at home. Anyway it was a fantastic freekick by Barisic that broke the deadlock and won the game. And so it was on to last night....at home to Legia Warsaw. Unfortunately Rangers were hit with a sanction from UEFA for Racism due to singing at St Joseph last month (it wasn't racism but 'sectarian singing' but they class sectarianism under racism for some reason) and had to close 3000 seats thanks to the idiocy of a small minority of fans who had refused to let go of these songs. I've been reading a lot of online stuff about this & believe me these people who sing these unwanted songs are in the minority and have been shouted down by the majority of fans who actually understand that it has to stop for the sake of the club!

As for the actual game....I didn't see it but going by reports it was a fairly equal affair with the Gers getting the winner from Morelos in TAO. Unfortunately on this occasion it was the Warsaw fans who let their club down due to the large amount of flares let off, the smoke of which caused the ref to stop the game for a short time. The clowns, in a pathetic act of provocation, unfurled a huge banner portraying Pope John Paul 2nd!

Unfortunately for us once again UEFA have us in their sights for sectarian singing in Warsaw last week so now their first home tie in the group stage will have 3000 seats closed. Hopefully that will be the end of this and there will be no more FTP, Fenian B's used. There are plenty of decent songs that can be sung.

Celtic aren't without blame. I believe they were fined £78k last season for allowing 'Palestine' flags to be flown at 3 matches.

I think Celtic have the easier group but I struggle to see them winning away at Rennes or Lazio. Same for Rangers away at Feyenoord and Porto, they'll both need to win their 3 home games for me to potentially scrape through.

As I say regularly and I believe you will agree with me RB....both clubs have an undesirable element that do harm to the club in various ways and it simply is not good enough and cannot be tolerated. Thankfully, the game at Ibrox against Legia went off without a hitch and from I've been told and read the atmosphere at times was on the quiet side but was fantastic at others and that was without the shit!

Anyway on to the game against Celtic last Sunday.....To say I was flabbergasted at how Rangers set out and played would be an understatement. We huffed and puffed but blew no green & white houses down. Too many players in midfield, no wingers and imo the main reason was that Celtic did to us what we did to them at Ibrox last season....they chased, harried, closed down and pressed us. Don't get me wrong, Celtic deserved the win but in all honesty both goals came from schoolboy defensive mistakes although Edouard took his goal very well. Far too many Rangers players were well off their game but for me Rangers best player was John Flanagan at left back....problem with him is he has no left foot so when he gets forward he has to check back on to his right to put in a cross and it's easy to defend against that. So 3 points dropped.....long way to go.

Gary Caldwell gone at Patrick Thistle I see. Awful manager
Can't believe Ian McCall is going to leave Ayr Utd, where he has done a tremendous job the past few seasons, to take on Thistle. I've a wee feeling he may regret this move.
