They're decent sales for a club like Bradford but isn't the atmosphere going to be worse? You're going to get all the plastic United and Liverpool fans who are only interested because of the price and probably won't know any of the songs and probably not that much of an interest in the game?

Its good pricing but there's no way it's sustainable. Bit like the West Ham move to the Olympic Stadium, dragging fans in at a cheap price to fill the stadium but if they had some success (promotion for Bradford, top 6 for West Ham) the prices would be doubled. If you want to put into context a season ticket at Nuneaton Town my local club is £350, they are semi pro and play in the conference.

So, to me Bradford supporters are not getting a great deal here in the long run with success. Yes it may sound good paying pennies for league football but they'd be expected to pay 100-150% more if they got promoted.

Just my opinion.

I can't see how more people in a stadium would make at atmosphere worse. See games vs Arsenal, Aston Villa, Sunderland and Reading which rubbishes your 'theory..

Not sustainable? How much profit did Coventry make last year?

Yeah I don't really get that it's not sustainable when we are making a profit.

We make it sustainable by paying bobbins for players and having a threadbare squad, kerching,

Finishing 7th paying bobbins wasn't a bad effort then.

In reality though, we have a competitive budget.

Hardly. A game against Arsenal with a lot riding on it is going to a better atmosphere than a mid table game against Crewe with 200 away fans in December.

I'm not sure. However, I'm sure Bradford's is significantly increased by the cup run. That will not happene every season I don't think and Bradford have been pretty lucky in the cup recently.

Surely most of the profit comes from the recent cup runs which isn't going to happen every season?

The cup runs and player sales help but it's not most of our revenue, it's ticket sales as for every club. We usually get a boost after such events but if we don't the club are actually good at cutting their cloth accordingly. The ticket prices have not negatively affected the club in any way, we have always had one of the biggest budgets in L2 and now we're competitive in L1. If we're not the club will increase the price and still get a steady uptake.

I don't really get your angle. If you're looking for 'shit or bust' economic policies at football clubs then there are far more eligible candidates around.

Also, we are attracting new younger fans all the time which will in the long run boost our hardcore support. We could have charged £400 but we would have sold as few as most clubs in League 1 have which equals less money than attracting a larger crowd at a cheaper price.

With the cup run we made a bigger profit but we would have still made a profit. Just like we have the last 5 years or so.

....the last time we had plastic United and Liverpool fans in the stands, the atmosphere still seemed alright.

Are you comparing a big FA cup game to a game in December against Crewe with 200 visiting fans?

There's an atmosphere before kick off, buzz around the ground. It's like Chelsea claiming they have fantastic support all the time because twice a season against Liverpool and Tottenham there's a buzzing atmosphere whereas as against lesser teams like Hull and Bournemouth the atmosphere wouldn't be as good as good because it's not a big game with importance.

Now here lies the irony, the atmosphere is STILL fantastic at VP in December! Until you sample it, you aren't really in the position to question or compare it.

If it's not a game of importance then surely less will turn up. Using your logic the atmosphere will be even better than the big games?

If sales keep up we should hit 17k. Maybe more.

With pay day soon I can't see why sales will dramatically decline on the last week.

If you look at the 18,000+ crowds we've had in the league over the last couple of seasons, these have been swelled by a relatively full away end (2,500)...leave around 15,500+ home fans. They were relatively big games (hence a bigger crowd in the first place), so for the club to surpass that in ST's sold, it'd be a fantastic effort - something of which I can't see happening - but more than happy to be proven wrong, obviously.

I think at the current rate of sales id be very surprised if we didn't beat 15,500. I remember VP rocking to sell outs in 98 and you could tell we could have sold lots more.

Given the fact that we only sold 14,700 ST's in the Premier League sorta diminishes that theory.

That was pretty much as many as we could sell though. The ground only held 18k then and that was reduced due to redevelopment at times. We had to give a percentage to away fans and a percentage to pay on the day.
