Altrincham definitely does - not been to Crewe yet.
Friendly cheap pubs (bearing in mind I was travelling from London, pubs are probably expensive compared to Barrow) near the station. Easy walk to the ground. I quite like a trip to Crewe.

We may disagree over our teams Greenacres, but I have to agree with your views on Chippys.

I'm now bloody starving as well just thinking about one.
We may do...my next door neighbours follow the same team as you...we get on surprisingly well and have some interesting, socially distanced, conversations over the fence!

Nearly lunchtime for me too...I have lentil soup and quiche to look forward to...nothing like conforming to a stereotype.

Add us to a the 21/22 on Saturday although it’s already done just not mathematically.

Definitely want Halifax to come up, although I never thought we’d be in the same league as them again! It’ll be good to have a genuine local rivalry again for the first time in 15 years. Things can get a bit heated they made us play our ore season friendly with them behind closed doors on police advice a few year ago and the FA Cup match had a fantastic atmosphere.

Probably Hartlepool are the other team, I’d prefer Notts County or Stockport but them and Halifax have no chance of both going up. Can’t be bothered with another Harrogate type club coming up it’ll be good to get a few more traditional clubs up who don’t bring 20 fans.

we did 5 and it seemed a eternity. Wrexham went down with us so i do feel their pain, but yeah amazing you’ve been down there that long.

Did you ever get round to finishing the work on that last stand?
Yeah it's been finished 10 years now. Although there is still scaffolding in the corner and steelworks. Which at this point is just staying like that.

Looking at the non-league picture, Sutton would be welcome - a comparable club to ourselves, one of the only decent teams we faced last season and can't see us competing for the same players.

Notts County fans (not necessarily the ones on here) were a bunch of entitled pricks all last season, and even more so when we pinched their rightful place in L2. They can stay down a while longer.

Chesterfield don't seem to have endeared themselves to anyone in recent years (although the Martin Allen months were hilarious). They've been using shady tactics to pinch players (mainly from Gloucester), and some of their posters think the sun shines out of their new manager's arse. Keep em down.

Stockport and Wrexham would spend like mad and no doubt dominate, so it's only Torquay or Hartlepool that would be acceptable of the rest.

Can’t we be pals again since Ian Evatt left anyway? :)

I am keen for another trip to your place soon. Last time the world felt normal (!).

word had it the chippy had gone
This is very bad news.

Conflicting messages, there must be more than one chippy in Rochdale...I'm a bit partial to fish and chips post match, to fortify me for a long journey home. Once got on a train at York after visiting a great chippy, train was full and it must have been mental torture for the other passengers...thought I was going mugged for my dinner!
Can't compare any others to the away end one. The gravy was on a different level.

Who puts gravy on chips...bloody heathens!

(I think I might have just unleashed a north versus south debate...red sauce or brown sauce, that sort of thing...as for mashed up peas, some might call them mushy, no thanks!)

I must stress, the Notts fans on here are mostly fine! But god, the forum and the gobby lot on Twitter - where do you get them from???

Wasn't that the last match before everything was called off? It honestly feels like years ago now.

No it’s the other way around. It’s heathens who don’t put gravy on chips.
Next time your up north try fish chips mushy peas and curry or gravy. You won’t regret it!

I'm from the South and love chips and gravy, it's glorious. Chips and curry sauce also. That said having lived in Edinburgh, chips and Scottish chippy sauce is the cats pyjamas.

I'm sure the recipe is a 'closely guarded secret' but I think it's brown sauce (HP if you like) diluted with vinegar. It's truly legendary.

Brown already is basically just vinegar with tomatoes and dates isn't it? How can you add more vinegar to it!

Our last away match. Just a great day out, managed to spend the entire first half hiding from the wind in that shack/bar in the away end when apparently we got battered, emerged for the second half just to see Quigley twat our ‘keeper in the face and turn the game. Looked like being a proper title race at that point, good times.

Sure about three of our group got Covid from that trip, mind. Funny thinking back, pubs were absolutely rammed, players leaping into the crowd when we scored. Fortnight later the country’s shut down and Barrow was the first hotspot.

that was our last match in the National League - although i seam to remember Notts played about 3 more and spread covid around the country....
Notts fans on the forums are like most fans - if you go on giving it the "big I am" then they'll hound you out - but if you go on and talk football respectfully with a bit of banter thrown in they were fine - by the time our promotion got confirmed they were even wishing us well on their 2 main forums and saying we deserved to go up. I think it helped that we were not a local historical rival team though.

I imagine 99% of Notts fans wish you well. I’m certainly delighted you’re going to stay up and actually (hopefully anyway) be able to see your team in the league in person next year.

The issue was only ever with Evatt, who I thought said some pretty crass and stupid things during those few months before it all got sorted.

I’m not having gravy on chips being acceptable, my dad didn’t grow up down a coal mine....! No but honestly, who wants soggy chips? A bit of ketchup on one side for dunking them in and a bit of salt does it for me.
