Was showing my four year old daughter some pictures of her cousin that my sister had posted on Facebook and she scrolled down to be greeted with the image of two little lads who had been hanged. A horrible image for anyone, but for a four year old... What the fuck do you say?

I appreciate that images can be a powerful tool to raise awareness of an issue - the attitudes to the refugee crisis changed markedly after those pictures - but there was no description, no explanation, no call to action. Just a horrible, horrible picture and 'Don't scroll past without typing amen'.

Indeed, I'm the same with animal cruelty, I followed Ricky Gervais on Facebook and you expect a laugh from him, but half of his posts are about battered or neglected animals, not the sort of stuff I want to see when I'm browsing it!

I follow Gervais too but dont take issue with what he posts. Personally think he's doing a good job of raising awareness of animal cruelty and promoting causes against it.

Yeah I understand that completely and as an animal lover myself (no jokes please! ) I fully admire the work he does in promoting issues and awareness of cruelty. I just can't look at that stuff, as it upsets me too much.

My girlfriend informed me of that 'phone pinching' trend earlier today. I seriously can't tell if society is devolving, I'm turning into a bitter curmudgeon, the dumbness is the same but has more exposure or all fucking three!

I use my smartphone to peruse here as well when I'm afk from the keyboard (whenever I type 'thus' instead of 'this' then you know I'm on my S4!) and there is nothing wrong with looking at it from time to time; but it appears to be a constant companion for many people now, and that thought scares the shit out of me for the future generations.

My younger brother is 5/6 years younger than me and there's probably 1200 of him.
