Is this like the South West version of people from Carlisle insisting that the south begins at Appleby?
Not really. We mess about and suggest anyone north of Tiverton is a Northerner, and we do accept Swindon is SW but it really is borderline. I mean its like 30 mins from Oxford!!

What is Millom and why is it so bad.

Also like the idea of tractors doing fifty mph. Round here they only do that if there's no one to hold up.

There's nothing there apart from a Railway Station, a few wind turbines and a prison.

I was told one time that if there was a cross between all four corner of England, Swindon would be dead centre.

Cumbria isn't North West, it's too far north to be proper North West. It is the borderlands between England and Scotland, kind of like the DMZ between North and South Korea, and back in the day Scotland and England fought over Cumbria many many times, and a few Scottish kings have even made Carlisle their capital during their reign when Cumbria was part of Scotland. Maybe we could send Cumbria back to Scotland, and then Carlisle and Barrow may have a chance of playing European football in the SPL instead of being stuck in this fourth division traveling hundreds of miles to play South West and South East clubs, tinpot bankrolled small clubs, and Manchester United B teams.

Exeter's right in the heart of old Dumnonia, which was one of the last Welsh/British kingdoms not conquered by the Saxons until the ninth century. Bit like Cumbria really :D

To be fair, I'd rather that than be Scottish.. I think you've drawn the short straw here
Er aren't Rangers one of your teams? Wouldn't plan a trip to Glasgow for a while

I can't claim this as my own...wish I could...but I once heard someone say that if England was a human Croydon would be the arse-hole!

Love the Rangers, only good thing about Scotland. But that's because they're British and not Irish. And I'm a unionist not a nationalist. Also as an athiest I prefer protestants to catholics.

The proper North West ends at the northern border of Lancashire.

Arseholes are necessary. Croydon would be the haemorrhoids!

The place is truly horrible.

In contrast, the South West is a growing market for football. There are no superclubs hoovering up all the support and the clubs in the South West still have a lot of untapped potential. The population is growing and is also a bit wealthier than in the North West, the main competition is Rugby Union and clubs like Cheltenham, FGR and Exeter have been steadily drawing fans in from the Rugby. Most of the clubs are well run because they represent a good business opportunity and aren't just attractive to asset strippers or charlatans. The South West isn't doing too well in League One at the moment but give it time and I think we'll start to see a strongly south western oriented League One and a number of clubs progressing from there to become Championship fixtures, while north western clubs playing below their historic level will become an ever increaing feature of League Two and the National League.

The real growth of football is in my opinion not happening in the South West, but rather in the South East and the London markets, which correlates with the demographic and socioeconomic trends of England as a whole.

There are eleven teams in the National League from the South East and six of those eleven teams are from the London area. Meanwhile most of the teams in the National League north of the South East are fallen EFL members like Stockport, Wrexham, Notts County, Chesterfield, Halifax, and Hartlepool.

The only thing preventing many of those South East teams from advancing upwards in the pyramid is the bottleneck that is the promotion spots between the National League and League Two.

Well, after living in the south of Ireland for 10 years I reckon my view is more valid than your ignorant religious bigotry.

Na, my nan just died from a bomb explosion thanks to the IRA in the 70s. But you crack the fuck on ya little c***.

Ignorant religious bigotry, I'm a fucking atheist you illiterate rat

Don’t have to be religious to be a bigot - as you have just proved.

Still hate the Germans and Japs, too, I suppose. You can’t tar a whole nationality because of the murderous few.

When and where was this bomb explosion in the 70's?
Don, it is obvious a very distressing subject and one that I would support if Devon refused to further comment upon.
There may be others who have been similarly affected and don't want that part of history raked up.
