We should still progress, but we're making hard work of things at the moment. This is when we need the defence to step up, the attack was always going to go through a lean period, especially with Mane off on the ACN and Coutinho out for two months.

God, already nervous for this. I expected it to be game over but felt a tad disappointed that it was only 1-0 to us.

The longer this tie stays in our favour, the more my hairline will receed.

Really hope VVD plays but it's not looking great. We'd struggle to keep a cleansheet with him so it has the potential to get messy without him. I can see a spirited defeat for us where our fans are left asking what if VVD played and what if we took more of the chances we created at St. Mary's?

I largely agree with this, but I'd go with 2-1, going out after extra time. League cup semis still got that weird away goal rule, right? Counts after 120 but not after 90.

Ordinarily I'd be very confident in this type of game, as you know. But the Swansea performance and result has knocked it out of me. Having a leaky defence is manageable when you're scoring for fun, but that stopped before Christmas.

All a bit of huff and puff from Liverpool without doing much, Soton with the best chances and Karius keeping us in the game again. Looks like Puel will keep his unbeaten record against Liverpool and Klopp will lose his 100% progression in semi-finals if it carries on like this.

Romeu and Stephens (bar THAT backpass) have been very good in the defence. However, every match I see of Rodriguez I just end up missing that pace he once had. Think the match is calling for Long. Redmond's getting some joy when running at their defence.
