Liverpool should have had 2 penalties in tonight's match but to be fair Southampton have definitely been the better side over the 2 legs and probably deserved that bit of luck to help them through to the final. Just need Hull to do Man Utd now and we have a proper final on our hands

Well we were denied one as well.

Our amazingly shit 2017 continues. We beat City on new years eve and were flying, now we're Rodgers-esque.

Always shit conceding a goal right after a very reasonable penalty shout but it happens to every team now and then. Southampton got a shitload of odd decisions in their favor them last 15 minutes, but in the end it was a case of three good halves from them, one good half from us.

Southampton clear and deserved winners. Just beat United ok thanks.

Absolutely brilliant. Never seen us in a major final (Don't think the JPT counts and I didn't like football in 2003.) Incredible! :D

Fair play Southampton, defended in numbers, broke fast, and for all our possession I didn't once think we'd score. Over the two legs we were shite and didn't deserve to progress, bottom line. What's the point of averaging 70% possession over the two legs if you can't score a fucking goal with it?

Big big questions to be asked about our attack at the moment, and the seeming complete lack of a Plan B when it's not working.

On 5live they seemed to think it was a dive by Origi at the end anyway - and it was Lawro summarising so he'd be bias towards Liverpool if anything.

No worries. The players probably had one eye on the United game at the weekend. At least the second leg at Anfield will be a decent watch now :D

It was a classic "seen them given" kind of shout. I think Harv said it was stonewall, certainly wasn't, but it wasn't an Ashley Young either.

Our drop of form has been great for the forum though, you have to say. Usually it's just Stevencc and he posts in every thread every day the whole year round.

I'm off before Nilsson gets in on the action, well done Southampton.

Laterz Bilo mate, sweet dreams.

Am I surprised by this result? The answer is no.

'Running out of steam'pool seem to be on somewhat of a downward spiral and Klopp seems to be allergic to silverware these days. That's two cup finals and now a semi-final he's managed to fuck up. How much more misery can their 'fans' take? 'Never won a PL title'pool really are the gift that just keeps on giving.

Reading that was like listening to Rik Waller's version of Something Inside So Strong.

Not a bad manager is Puel, eh?

Looking for a genuine opinion Southampton fans. Is he winning you over? Last time I asked, some of you weren't sold on him (yes I know he's boring).

It's a weird one, from some camera's it looked stonewall but others it doesn't. I was fully expecting the referee to point to the spot.

A more complex, thought provoking, meaningful interpretation of a fairly dull original? Very kind of you Pagnell.

Fair play to him. He tactically outclassed Klopp over these two legs and I'm a fool for wanting him gone so early. If he wins this cup then he is the most successful manager in my lifetime.

And if he loses? How popular was he before this evening's success?

Well Mistermagic. Things have certainly picked up under Puel in the last few matches and he does seem to be learning from his previous mistakes. I mean he was quick to drop Redmond from the striker role, his shite diamond formation and now he doesn't rotate eleven players for each match.

I reckon we can be a success under him, just because of how good our defence is under him. We're a good striker away from being a similar team to the one that we were last year, but I think it's our board now which is holding us back, rather than the guy on the touchline.

Thanks, guys. Had much more fun reading the comments of the ManU fans here than watching this match. Deserved win for Southampton, no doubt about that. 2 Home losses in a row now. Third time lucky then for Saturday against Wolves? ;)

It's ironic how Liverpool buy half of the Southampton team and still lose to the left over team.:bg:

I hope united get stuffed by Southampton in the final. Can't see hull doing anything in the second leg.

What for the league cup? Na, particularly when the club has more of them than any other anyway ;)

As transparent as the white pillow case you've sobbed all over for the last two hours.
