Not sure on Monk, at the right place at the right time at Swansea and was ultimately a failure.

I think I'm of this way off thinking. Doesn't leave a great deal left.

Why have you left it so long as any new man will have a squad thrust upon him

No idea, was brainless to sack a manager half way through such a pivotal transfer window anyway.

Ah well, you should still have enough to stay up - although Bolton seem to be improving and they were dead certs a couple of weeks ago

Much rather Johnson than Monk, a good fit with the club and career on an upward curve.

Monk appears neither the man for a relegation battle nor a League one campaign.

Monk from 30/1 to 3/1 in one day.

Sigh.

I come on here hoping to see confirmation of LJ's appointment and have to read through all that bullshit just to find out Monk's odds are dropping.

Fuck sake.

Yeah, since the last few times we've been promoted of course.

Come back to me when you've got to the PL - or even won anything of note

Referring to stats about 25 years ago great come back, you sound like all those scousers. We once played Aston Villa in league cup final in 1961, massive!

He's on my ignore list but I'm guessing from other people's replies that SERNWA is in full flow. Seriously, the guy must have some kind of mental disorder and needs help. Leave him be.

Anyway Monk would be a FAR FAR better option than LJ. He comes across very well and from what ive heard, there was a lot going on behind the scenes at Swansea. A guy with 2 years experience managing in the premier league, often taking scalps off the bigger clubs or a guy with a year and a half experience in league 1 where he's done very little of note.

I think Monk was unfairly sacked but I genuinely think LJ is better suited to us. I'm a bit mad.

I'd also quite like Monk but at the same time that Swansea side were so horrific at performing simple defending by the time he left, it was a disgrace. They were defending more shambolically than us under McInnes which says a lot.

At the moment I'd say LJ's pro points currently outweigh his cons at the moment, there was an excellent post on OTIB about both the rebuilding jobs he's done at Oldham and Barnsley while spending very little.

The only cons are the timing because of our terrible position and the people with an agenda against him that won't quit and they will wait for any reason to criticise.

Nixon saying it's LJ. :bg:
First losing JET, then the shambles of this season, and proceeding to sacking Cotterill - I can see why your head is in a bad place mate, we'll get you help.

I've been to hell and back. Let me have some excitement about a little bit of potential good news.

Because the club made me think we were appointing someone shit like Appleton, Pearce or Southgate. They still may, but at least I have hope for now.

Even if it doesn't work out, which will probably be the case, I don't care because nothing works out with this silly club anyway.

I've advocated Monk for some time as I work with a couple of Swans fans who have nothing but praise for him as a Manager. Given the job he did there, they feel he was made a scapegoat for others failings and would do a superb job for us.
That said, I wouldn't be against LJ and would back him fully as i would anyone else apart from the bald headed twat from Cadbury Heath!

From the Barnsley site:

Club Statement: Lee Johnson

When Lee Johnson was appointed to the role of Head Coach at Barnsley Football Club, it was intended to confine and focus his activities on the development, organisation and recruitment of players for the first team. The limitation of this role was to allow other management staff to have similar remits relating to the Academy, U18 and U21 teams. Partly, the purpose in designating the Head Coach role in this way was to limit the impact in the event of a change and to encourage succession planning.

This morning we gave permission to Lee Johnson to speak to Bristol City concerning their managerial vacancy. We gave this permission because we believe that the structures that we now have in place must be the key to our future success rather than dependence on a single individual. If Lee decides to stay with Barnsley Football Club we will be delighted, but if he chooses to move on, we will continue unabated with the plan we have in place for the progression of our Club.

We will provide further information in due course.

Don't worry - you'll get to see JET in a couple of weeks :2thumb:

So the board say we've had a number of highly qualified people inquire about the job, and we speaking to LJ, who has done very little in the management so far.
