Makes an interesting pub quiz question in years to come as well! Father and Son to manage the same club within what, 5 years?

Potential trophy and promotion or potential relegation? Obviously he'll get a good pay rise and he has a connection to the club but I don't see it being a clever move. Not in the short term anyway, obviously he could keep you up and build on it next season but surely it makes more sense to keep going at Barnsley at least till the end of the season.

Most Barnsley fans wanted him gone a month ago, another bad run and a bottom half finish this season and he'll be on the scrap heap. Could be his only chance to ever manage in the Championship.

Even if Bristol City do go down, they'll be better equipped for a promotion challenge than Barnsley next season and he will be better backed financially.

Can't see him giving a fuck about winning the shitty JPT when he can double his salary.

I guess I see the JPT as more important as it is.

If they sign him do you think they'd keep him if they get relegated?

Really don't get City fans writing him off before a ball is kicked. He may turn out to be a fucking wizard. At least give him a chance to prove he's shite.

Thought after the same reaction after Cotterill took over you would have learnt your lesson

Some people just aren't prepared to give him the time of day after being a player for us, for even which he was treated very harshly

I actually rated him as a player so that's has nothing to do with for me.

So...

How many of you shouting for Cotterill to leave are happy now?

Personally, if it was a choice between our League One double winning manager and a bloke who's managerial career consists of mincing around in the midtable League One.....

However, this is an interesting appointment, potential very exciting. His Dad should never have left, the family clearly have a ingrained soft spot for the club, so hopefully Lee can carry on. A good fit- better than Swansea man Monk that is for sure- but the pressure is on Lee boy.

Hope the haters pipe down of a while, we were never gonna attract a Pearson or a Moyes.

Good appointment IMO, obviously had a very rough start to this season but has turned it around, won the last 6. Also had a very good honeymoon period at Barnsley, he gets anywhere near close to replicating that and he'll be keeping you up.

I think the Bristol City fans are letting their love affair with the Johnson family blind them.

Fucking shit appointment.

Yes, it is.
Underwhelming certainly but I will give LJ the support he deserves as a new boss at the club we love. While many disliked him as a player, I didn't but that is totally irrellevant IMHO. His skills as a coach are what we have asked for and let's give the kid a chance. He has an affinity to the club which is more than the last couple of bosses have had!
My only concern is it's the first time, my club have appointed a guvnor younger than me making me officially an old bastard!
COME ON LJ, PROVE THE FOOKERS WRONG!

Why though?

He has done absolutely nothing to warrant a job in the Championship, his managerial achievements so far consist of finishing mid-table in League One.

Definitely smells of not being able to bring anyone in so let's get someone the fans will go for. I highly doubt any other club in this division would spend 4 weeks looking for a new manager before deciding Lee Johnson is the man (not even us)

Of course, he'll probably prove me wrong and you'll finish mid-table. He's not taking the team today is he? Potential humble pie for me tomorrow if so.

Maybe that's because he's a young guy just starting out in management.

Mind you, with your managerial merry-go-round you probably are in a better position to judge shite managers

So everything I said above still stands then.

I think as it stands right now, I would actually rather have our manager than Bristol City's.

I hate to say it as a City fan, but I agree with this 100%.

I don't care which club or which manager, I reckon everyone deserves a chance to prove himself one way or another.

Except, perhaps, Oxford

Don't disagree, but in the circumstances, I think our new manager should have a better track record in the division below. Someone who has a decent record in the Championship would have been nice too.

Not sure about that Bobbin, Lee was NOT popular amongst our support as a City player although he did a good and important job for the team. Personally, I think he will need balls of cast iron as some fans will dislike the bloke regardless.
We will have to wait and see if this works I guess.

I didn't like him as a player, but I'm not one to abuse a player unless they're not putting a shift in, and you could never accuse him of not doing that.

A very underwhelming appointment, and you have to wonder if Ashton saying we have some enquireries from exciting managers, was nothing less than PR bullshit.
