And that's undoubtedly a problem. In a relegation battle the board needed to appoint someone to unite the fans, and someone the fan would give time too. LJ best hit the ground running because some of our fans will be on his after the first defeat.
They'll be on his back anyway V.
Let's give the bloke a chance I say.

Then they shouldn't have appointed him. Not LJs fault but..

Totally agree bud, it's not his fault so we should back him. As City Manager / coach, I would do it anyway but some people just love moaning.
This made me chuckle...

He should be backed by all City fans I agree. I'm hoping very much that Lee proves me wrong.

Agree, but really what is the Board thinking when Pemberton has so successfully tightened up the defence, brought in some good signings, and is grinding out some results? Surely it would be best to leave the interim arrangement in place longer?

Maybe Captain, we will have to wait and see. Lee seems to be held in high regard in football and obviously has a soft spot for BCFC and I just hope the moaners give the bloke a chance as he's our new gaffer.
As for Pembo and Wade, it does seem very harsh but maybe they felt they weren't quite ready (a guess)? With Pembo beside him, I can't see Lee failing but just hope our support judge him as a manager / head coach and not as the player he was for us even though I thought he did ok. He seemed to be the go to 'blame' character as his dad was the boss. Now he's the boss in his own right so let's cut the bloke some slack and welcome him 'home'. You never know, it might be a master stroke.
On a personal note, after landing at Heathrow at 1-30 next Saturday, I can't see me making the Ipswich game but I will have the hammer down trying!
UP THE CITY

I appreciate your feelings towards the move, JJH. But Eddie Howe and, perhaps an even better comparison, Alex Neil, got their teams promoted to the Premier League last year. It might be the cheap option and I'm still not happy with our board, but I'm a fan of LJ and the decision to appoint him.

I'm willing to give LJ a fair crack at it, and I obviously wish him all the success in the world but I can't see it ending well; although of course I'd be delighted to be proved wrong, much like I and many others were with Cotterill we should note.

I won't be venting my frustrations towards LJ if things go tits up, as you can't blame the man for taking a job in a higher division, on a better wage at a club he and his family are held in high regard in, I'll be venting it towards the board for the complete shambles in which they've handled this situation, stemming from the moment Cotterill was sacked which should never have happened half way through a transfer window.

My main concern lies in future seasons beyond this one if he's planning on having a long career here - if we're serious about this Premiership malarkey then why have we appointed him? Are we realistically going to be able to attract players under LJ? I have serious concerns and doubts over that.

I think something really isn't quite right at our club. Don't see Ashton helping things either. I can't say I'm overly optimistic about what the immediate future holds. Not even due to the appointment of Lee, more the way we are going about things.

I was a big critic of SC and he obviously didn't help himself with his tactics but by the sounds of it he had his hands tied with regards to the running of things.

Aye, could be a lot worse.

I'm really thinking a straight swap of managers could be on the cards if Cotts wants to get straight back into management. Attractive offer for him and Barnsley TBH. More often then not a manager wants a break, but it would be funny to see it happen .

By the sounds of it Barnsley have a similar set up to ourselves. Not sure he'd want to go through it again.

Ecstatic that it wasn't Warnock, Johnson seems to done an alright if not spectacular job at Barnsley and Oldham, let's see how this goes.

Bit late to this, haven't been on the forum much recently, but if this means the "Johnson says bounce around the ground" chant is coming back then for that reason alone I'm all for it :2thumb:

But seriously, I'm with Jordan. Genuinely happy with this appointment. Far rather Johnson to Warnock or someone of that ilk. And it's a bit of a gamble yes, but I don't see how the "oh this clearly shows the board have no real ambition" argument follows at all

I was totally against this appointment but now that it's happened, I can't help but feel a bit excited. Young manager, totally unproven, new ideas.. Literally anything could happen. I've just got a funny feeling this could work out well.

The thing is I don't really see it as a 'honeymoon' period. Effort was never an issue under Cotts. Tactics and use of subs were all wrong. Now the squad is being utilised and we are playing in a solid formation the quality that I thought was in the team is shining through. A couple of more solid signings in the summer and hopefully we can push on.

I agree entirely but didn't think we would be 3rd in the form table.

Never to be seen again Luke. You need to come home and experience this mate, we are looking good again.
When you visiting again bud?

It's looking like I'll be home for most of the summer. Very excited to see our first game in the new rebuild (hopefully a championship fixture). The last time I was at the gate was a year and a half ago when the south stand was just a mound of dirt. Will be like setting foot in an entirely new stadium for me.
