Crawley are probably going to be setting a low points record this season.
I think Morecambe might try to fight them for that particular record

For us to finish 9 places above Wrexham, we’ll somehow have to be mid-table in League One. If they’re not top 3 in January they’ll bring in a load of ringers from the Championship.

I wouldn't be surprised if Wrexham start slowly;- most promoted teams seam to then pick up. Just look at Stockport last season. But can't see them being outside the play offs.....

Add FourFourTwo to the huge list of those that followed my lead from weeks ago and have gone with Stockport as winners....

1. Stockport
2. Wrexham
3. Notts County
4. Gillingham
5. Doncaster
6. Salford
7. MK Dons
8. Bradford
9. Mansfield
10. Swindon

20. Morecambe
21.Newport
22. Harrogate
23. Sutton
24. Crawley

...I've actually changed my thoughts on that winner to be honest, not been massively impressed with Stockport's business. I'm saying Salford for the title now. I think Sutton and Crewe will potentially do a bit better than I initially gave them credit for too.

I think the difference with a lot of teams is that they need to bring in a number of bodies to ensure they don't flop in League Two, and it takes time to bed these players in. We're coming up well equipped, with a host of players who should be playing League One football.

I don't expect us to run away with it but I'd be bitterly disappointed if we weren't top 7. I can see us starting strongly but opening games don't come much tougher than MK Dons so we'll see.

Look, there’s a whole host of teams that will be taking points off each other all season long. No obvious outstanding candidate IMO, but a lot of evenly matched ones.

To win it - Bradford
Bottom - Crawley
Dark Horse - Walsall

Tbh, Salford have been stocked with L1 and above players since they came up. It doesnt always equate to success.

Bradford to win it with Mark Hughes is a bold prediction in my opinion! A lot of reliance on Cook too.

For a bit of fun I've collated all predictions onto a spreadsheet.
So far 31 sets of forecasts.
Yours was 1st on list but I've changed it to your amended forecast.

Based on business done so far, Stockport win it, Macclesfield- Crawley bottom and we will hopefully have an outside chance of the play offs.

Hmm, had he have opted for the same formation, thus isolating Cook again, then I’d agree - but this ain’t the case anymore.

How's their squad turnover season on season?

Cook and Tyler Smith is a terrific combo at this level.

I agree!

With the introduction of players like Pattison, who will bring goals from midfield, we’re far stronger this season.

However, there appears to be a lot of negativity on our socials at the minute. Many think we haven’t strengthened but I couldn’t disagree more.

I haven’t posted my league predictions (I very rarely do), but I think Swindon will be right up there this season.

My only real niggle with Bradford is Mark Hughes. Big name manager that has managed at a very high level, but I'm just not sure he's equipped to get Bradford over the line at Div 4 level. You've strengthened your playing squad year on year and after falling at the play off hurdle, you'd really expect Bradford to be pushing for a top 3 spot. I'm 50/50 at the moment a little. Hughes will be learning of course, but I still have doubts about his ability.

As for us, funnily enough we look to be good from a manager perspective, Flynn knows league 2 like the back of his hand (yes, I accept his spell at Walsall was a failure) but currently we are 4/5/6 players short of a solid spine needed to challenge. We've also suffered injuries to defensive players in pre-season that's left us well short. As to where we'll finish, it's too early as we've not yet finished our transfer work.

I think Hughes is not equipped for L2 and I reckon Flynn is very much one of those that will probably only ever do good enough with Newport at this level.

I don’t understand the comments about Hughes not being equipped. Can anyone expand?

For me it's just down to him not having a huge amount of experience of managing at this level. I guess you can only get that by managing at this level and so he will have learned a great deal from last season. I suppose my other niggle is how flexible he is. For me, I reckon (based on absolutely nothing at all) he's a bit of an old, stubborn so and so that would rather just repeat what isn't working rather than adapt, or listen to alternative suggestions.

He’s managed 60+ league games at this level, I imagine he now knows what the khazi league is about.

As for being stubborn, he never comes across that way IMO. He’s already addressed where we were short last season - which has resulted in a change in formation.

I think the opinion outsiders have is probably the same opinion I’d have if Hughes was elsewhere. In reality, we’re very lucky to have him at this level. If we can somehow get out of this league next season, I think we’ll do very well under Hughes at L1 level and above.
