I appreciate Rammy that it's difficult to police it but then create rounds where googling can't happen. The picture round in telly addicts had this advantage bar the fact they were piss easy. So did the anagrams.

Games on the internet work like that... there's no way the rest of the internet (google and such) won't get used. You'd never run a 50 question pub quiz, with most answers winning, for example. People will use the tools at their disposal.

But I still think this game can be saved... by running it how I expected it to run. No pictures, no copy and paste descriptions. Just a product and bullet point features.

We Googled the second and third products, but only because Rammy seemed to suggest that it was within the rules of the game by allowing Jehovah Five the first one. We actually planned to play in the spirit of the game (hence our answer to the first product being miles out) but felt compelled to Google after that because other team(s) were doing it.

But were the 'guesses' via Google on items 2 and 3 not influenced by the fact that one team clearly Googled the first item? If no team Googles the first item, no teams would have any reason to Google any of the rest and would play the game the way it was intended.

As I say, I can't say much as I did it myself, but it's a stupid thing to do and there's no justification.

Yeah, we just didn't think it through. Basically assumed that's what everyone else would do as Rammy didn't stipulate that Google couldn't be used.

So apologies if anyone believes we've caused this, although we did decline to make an offer on item 3 as a gesture of goodwill.

I dunno. Maybe not. But like everybody else, I didn't even think of it as "cheating" when I used google. I just saw it as the logical thing to do and assumed everybody would be doing it. I thought the items wouldn't be as easy to find so we'd have to use the internet to get a general idea of what similar items are priced at and have to work from there. Apologies if we got that assumption wrong.

But as I and others have said, this game can still be salvaged. Fuck it, James... find items and give them your own valuation in your head, not based on google or whatever. Then nobody can possibly know what it'll be.

James, you could always have said when realising what we had done, that it wasn't allowed, and no points would be awarded if you thought that was the case. There was a way to police it, by doing just that.
