The owners have made it clear they expect promotion, whether that’s top 3 or playoffs. And they’ve provided the budget to achieve that.

For me personally, I don’t think that’s realistic. Last season was such a confidence drainer, I expected a hangover particularly in the early part of the season and that’s what we’re seeing. We’ve signed some good players but there are still quite a few from last season including the manager and staff who I think will still have post traumatic shock from what happened. This is why I think the manager needs to go. As Dave alluded to further up he’s gone all negative from the shock of last season. The only way this changes is by someone replacing him. I’m sure it will happen asap when the owners realise we’ve no chance of top 7 with him in charge.

As for Wyke, he’s looked good in terms of his all round play, his intelligence and link up. Hasn’t got a goal yet as the team has been playing shite, but I’m sure one will come soon. Maybe a consolation goal at Valley Parade.
I wouldn't begrudge him scoring a consolation goal as long as we've beaten you comfortably. We do seem to struggle against you though, especially at your place.

I’ve been to Bradford away at least 6 times (including a preseason friendly) and haven’t seen us score a goal let alone win. The best I’ve witnessed was that 0-0 draw on a Tuesday night season before last.

In two minds whether to attend this upcoming one.

I didn't realise that actually. I just had that feeling we always struggle against you.

When is Callum Guy due back?. Always liked him when he was here

We won at your place during Covid, but obviously no one was there. Other than that our record there has been dire.

Guy is due back around late October and he has been missed. Our best midfielder.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
The only time I can remember is winning at Bradford is when we played Guisley there back in 1994.

Although I still love the trip to Bradford there isn’t many away days anymore when you have a large ground in the town centre and as such driving and coaching into the city and see the floodlights or ground towering above the houses.

Old school feel to a modern ground which I miss a little.

I remember the days when you were amusingly over confident about CUFC following the arrival of new owners.

Fast forward only a few months and it's the perfect 180. Dark times indeed.

You've gotta love it.
We were confident of beginning a new era of financial sustainability and being able to compete with the teams around us. Three points from the first three games of the season isn't going to change that. If that upsets you so much then I presume that like most on here you're just desperate for us to disappear because you don't like the long away day. Sorry to disappoint you but we're not going anywhere.

Who's upset? What did I say in the quoted post suggested I was upset?

I'm not particularly desperate for anything for my own club let alone another L2 outfit.

How is Luke Armstrong getting on at Carlisle - does he look good? We (Wrexham) came within minutes of signing him a year ago for £500k but failed to register him in time, which in the end was I think a good outcome for us as his fee was being inflated beyond his worth simply because it was us. I think that is demonstrated by the fact that Carlisle only (!) ended up paying £350k.

hasn't been in the starting lineup so far this season and missed the last two games due to the birth of his child but played well and scored against Stockport in our final friendly.

Looked decent in his all-round hold-up play last season. He only scored three goals which most would point to as a bad sign, but might actually be a decent return for the last four months of the season given how paltry the service was, he still managed to be our highest scoring centre-forward in the second half of last season.

We ended up paying something between 200 - 250k for him.

He's been good though, I like Armstrong. Just hasn't been getting enough service but hopefully that will change now that we have Jordan Jones.

Good luck to him. He was left in a difficult situation when his move to us fell through so hope he gets success at Carlisle.
yeah, I feel when we signed him in January we already knew he wouldn't hit the ground running after barely playing for Harrogate... Not entirely sure what happened there, whether it was just Harrogate being brutally pragmatic and not wanting to play someone who was after a move, or whether the relationship between Armstrong and the Harrogate coaching staff had soured... still he showed good signs last season and has a strong work ethic so touch wood might be like a new signing now. He does have a lot of competition now however, with Wyke, Kelly, Adjei and Butterworth all being potential starters.

Only Wyke and Adjei-Adu are his competition.

Butterworth is shit and Kelly is only competition if you want a hospital bed.

So the Carlisle manager has gone, who next for this North Western outpost I wonder?

Not that I or anyone else who lives 30 miles or more from Carlisle actually gives a shit.

It was an expected defeat. So I’m not even angry. It’s going exactly how I said it would - awful start to the season, a proper hangover from last season, manager gone early on. Players low on confidence, even new players getting the losing culture ingrained into them. Defeat after defeat.

I do however believe at some point we’ll pick up a bit and we will stay up as there are some good players in that squad. I think there’s too much in there to actually go down. Obviously there’s some shite that needs kicked out. Mellish and Neal being the first two I’d move on if possible. The former was a disgrace today.

This season is all about staying up and trying to stop the rot, eradicating the losing culture and hopefully putting some foundations down to have a good go in the 25/26 season.

We need Pete Wild to come and manage us.

His record is fairly good and we really need a manager who can get the best out of players and get results.

Don't think Carlisle has many problems that are difficult to remedy. More goals and drop Mellish would be a bit of a start. Wyke had a few chances today but his finishing was very poor. Is he unfit?

I don’t think he’s unfit. I thought his all round performance was decent today considering the poor team he’s in. He desperately needs a goal and once he gets one I expect he’ll get a few more. Today was the second or third time he’s hit the woodwork already this season. He’s not a million miles away, just needs one to bounce in off his arse or something like that to get him going.

Green shoots of recovery over the past couple of games, though we're still a long way from where we should be. A complete change of footballing philosophy is evident from the 2 games of the post-simpson era so far, and that will take time for the players to become fully accustomed to.

Don't think there could have been any complaints from Bradford had the game finished level today. We're creating a few chances, and trying to play decent football at last. Still a few issues to sort out, and we need to stop making ridiculous errors and gifting teams a head start every game - but I feel better tonight than I did last week, or the week before.

It's coming.

To be fair they gifted us our goal as well. I thought Bradford edged it and just about deserved the win, but I agree it’s positive that we did at least create some really good chances which we hadn’t been doing.

Does anyone know of any managers we could hire who are renowned for keeping clubs up in L2?
