What's the deal with Harry Lewis too?

Obviously a lot of noise on Twitter from our fans, but he's conceded something like 44 in 20 games for you lot.

He had a stellar 22/23 season with us, but the first half of last season he was appalling for us (stats generally had him as the 23rd best keeper in L2 at that point) and he seems to be copping a lot of stick from your lot too. Has he shown any ability since he joined you? Doesn't seem like he's the one to build a solid team off for you.

No he’s awful. You’ve absolutely had our pants down getting a six figure fee for him. Fair play.

He hardly saves anything, doesn’t stop shots, high, low, far post, near post, doesn’t claim crosses. I was hoping the summer reset might see him come back a different goalkeeper but today was more of the same.

I didn’t rate Tomas Holy, but I’d drive to Czech Republic and pick him up to bring him here if it meant Lewis didn’t have to play. We have a young keeper called Gabriel Breeze but Simpson clearly doesn’t trust him yet. I’d love to see him get a run of games because this Harry Lewis situation simply isn’t sustainable.

Worried about getting promoted because you might then get relegated twice, now I've seen it all ...

Well that looks like it could turn out to be the case.

I actually thought Carlisle looked decent for long spells of the game yesterday.
We were very sluggish first half and couldn’t have complained if we had gone in behind at half time.
They gifted us our first two goals though and missed a couple of sitters themselves.
Just sort out a couple of the basics and they will be fine.
I agree about the keeper though, he looked very poor yesterday.

Strange. He was one of the best shot stoppers for us since we had Jordan Pickford on loan. However, he wasn't so good on crosses and seemed to panic at corners.

Shame the move hasn't turned out to be a good one for him. Nice lad, who got really involved with the local community, and very popular with our fans, especially our female ones!

He does seem like a really good lad yeah. He’s moved his family into the area and seems really committed to the club. He came to the fanzone big screen at Brunton for the England games in the euros, even brought his partner and newborn along. He just comes across as a really sound bloke. I’d love for him to turn it round and become the goalkeeper we all thought we were signing, but I just can’t see it happening unfortunately. Whether it’s a confidence thing I don’t know, but every half decent shot on target seems to beat him. He’s been here since January and I can’t recall him making a single top quality save. He’ll have the shirt for the next few league games at least, but there will come a point where a decision will have to be made.

I don't care if he's a nice lad he's absolutely hopeless as a goalkeeper.

Bradford probably used that money they got for him towards Sarcevic's wage. The sort of midfielder we could really have done with in our team.

Time is the killer, the harsh reality is Simpson doesn’t have the time.

He may from the owners, but he won’t from the fans, they ship amateur goals again tonight or more so Saturday and the atmosphere is going to turn ugly.

And when that does it is very hard to turn it about because players never play to 100% when the atmosphere is ugly.

The last thing he needed was that 3rd and 4th goal, I think most expected a probable defeat we don’t do well at Gillingham and heck even just playing well for once is a change there, but once it became a thumping out came the complaints of same old from last season……hard to get out of the rut.

Seems Lewis was a one season wonder. Shame, seems a nice lad.

Thought the lad was alright - personally and in between the sticks. But as soon as Barnsley made their interest in him known, his head was turned right from the word go.

All that spiel about how appreciative he was of Hughes and the club in giving him a chance, given his career at the time was in the gutter, was utter bollocks. I get players tend to spout this bollocks when they first sign, but he kept going on and on about it - his love for the club and fans etc etc. At the time, you could tell he really invested himself into the club and surroundings (external charity events etc) - or at least that’s what we thought.

Carlisle came knocking after they dumped us out of the play-offs, which was an even bitter pill to swallow.

On reflection, fuck him! Seriously.

His replacement, Sam Walker, looks twice the keeper.

Aye, would agree with that. I like the way he comes across - no drama, just gets on with things and not the centre of attention. Actually feel safe when crosses come into the box now.

Harry Lewis is getting towards worst goalkeeper I’ve ever seen play for the club territory. Seriously. A liability.

He was decent enough last night v Stoke.
He appears to be a scapegoat, doesn't matter how well he plays, some fans will slag him off.
i think he's a good keeper who will quickly hit top form.

Live at Brunton park I thought he’d flapped and put their first goal into his own net pretty much. Hence my initial reaction soon after the game.

Having since seen the replay it wasn’t quite like that, he actually reacted and got something on it to push it out, it was just unfortunate it then hit Thomas and went in.

He still worries me though and I can’t see it happening myself but I hope you’re right and he comes good.

You need to get rid of this World Cup winning manager fast otherwise he will take you down again.

Carlisle weren’t at all bad last Saturday and if anything 4-1 flattered us. They showed plenty of fight when going 1-0 down and again to pull it back to 2-1. They won’t have any problems staying up.

Keeper is shite though

I think he'll be gone if we don't beat Barrow tomorrow.

I'm just fed up now of looking at the league table and seeing us down in 24th no matter which league we're in. :ffs:

I’m known as one of the least optimistic fans and even I don’t think this team will go down.

But I do think it’s likely we’ll have a stinking season scrapping around the bottom third of the table and that in its self is unacceptable given the money our manager and recruitment team have been allowed to spend.

You were right about the team having to overcome the losing mentality because it's still clear to see that nothing has changed since last season and that's down to the manager who should have sacked Greg Abbott and hired a better head of recruitment.

The fact that no change was made within the management team after last season is absolutely appalling and it's no wonder we're seeing the same poor performances on the pitch and a lack of good quality signings despite us having a bigger budget.

Too early I think to say we haven't made good quality signings. We've lost two games, one against a team on a strong run in the championship, one away to the team probably most entitled to claim theyre gonna PTTPL.

I hope we can address the missing link between the midfield and the attack in the transfer market and also ensure we have the strength in depth to last the season, but let's see how we do tomorrow.

Well Shoddy I hope we do find that link but it's not looking likely with Abbott as our head of recruitment and Simpson with his dinosaur tactics.

He’s very unlucky really a victim of his own success.

He should have easily won manager of the season in L2 for 22/23, he dragged a squad of players badly out of form with zero confidence 2nd bottom of L2 and looking gone, gelled it together and turned it into a promotion side of next to no budget…………..then was expected to someone add next to nothing in the summer and keep that said side in L1.

It’s why he for me deserves his go this season but proble for him is he’s lost large chunks of the fanbase and unsure you can win it back.

The only argument against him is Accrington and Morecambe did fare better in L1 on similar crap budgets, Crawley have also done more so far after a high horrendous summer for them.

I’d like to think he will get 10 games because he has a tough start had a new squad and it takes time to gel……think he will be gone Monday if they lose Saturday.

Genuinely think that was a 'must-win' game for Paul Simpson today. Can it be the catalyst for the much-desired turnaround?

I hope so and we'll see, I'd say it's bought him some more time to put things right but this win alone won't be enough as he's going to need a few more positive results in the next few games to keep the pressure off.

The results are obviously the most important thing, but I would really like our football to be a bit better on the eye because although we won it was still quite awful to watch.

He needs to back it up. We haven’t backed up a win in what seems like a decade (more like 18 months).

We had a few one off wins last season. Let’s see if this is a one off.

At the moment I think he’ll be gone some time in September, but to change that he needs to put a little run of results together over the next few weeks.

From what I've read on the News & Star website re todays meeting between CUST and the Piataks, it's a real positive outlook going forwards.
Time will tell, but from what I've seen and heard so far this season, we'll be alreet.
