That gofundme was pretty tinpot - as were the resulting signings
Yeah, well only one signing, Junior Joachim who made two sub appearances and then left at the end of the season. I think what had happened was, Curle was surprised to suddenly be handed some money to go out and sign someone, had no real plans of who to sign, hadn't expected to be going into the transfer market and hadn't done any scouting and now had neither the time or money to do a proper job so went for the guy we had on trial that summer who was yet to find a club.

Sigh..

What's the point of us going for promotion?

We'd just come straight back down again, isn't that right hellogregory?

But even if we did come straight back down, we’d still be a football league club. A relegation from L1 to L2 isn’t even remotely close to being as disastrous as losing our EFL status.

You really don’t get it do you? There isn’t a single negative about promotion, so if (big if) it happens, even if the following season we do come straight back, it would still be worth it.

It wouldn't be because we could be the next Southend or Oldham, you've got to worry about 2 seasons ahead.

So be careful what you wish for..

That could happen without going up to league 1. At least when you’re in league 1 you know no matter what that you’ll be a football league club the following season.

Defeat to Harrogate in yesterday's relegation battle has more or less sealed our fate :fish:

Not really. We always lose to Harrogate so yesterday could be looked at as a fete hit. It’s the other games that will decide our fate.

The 4-0 thrashing by Mansfield in February really made a difference didn’t it.

Hey, I'll be rooting for you lot down here next season now that our clubs aren't in the same league anymore.

So a bit of respect would be appreciated my fellow Cumbrian.

No because we can’t possibly be beleaguered in League 1 even if we do come straight back down which I’m quietly confident that we won’t.

Any chance of promoting this thread to league one LancashireTrotters

Just let the thread die, hellogregory seems reasonably satisfied with our current status and the big club big shots in the L1 forum barely know of our clubs existence.

Well folks, it looks like we're coming back down to L2 and with a whimper too.

We never really left did we?

I hope you can have some sympathy for us because we're rock bottom in L1, we're 12 points adrift from safety and have now lost 7 in a row with only 4 wins all season.

The quality in the league above is quite superior to down here and if you're not prepared for it going up then you could end up like us and the way things are going we'll be like Forest Green next season.

hellogregory is browsing hotels in Wealdstone for December 2025. I'd be careful though, Barnet fans will be in a few days later offering him a better deal.
