Even if Carlisle did approach us for MT, and if we said yes, I really don’t believe for a second that Taylor would move his family up north again so soon.

I reckon we’ve made an approach, and someone’s got wind of it hence the rumour. But I’m pretty sure he’ll have knocked it back for the reason you say as well as not wanting to drop down to a League 2 relegation scrap.

I agree, but it’s circulating like mad. Our local press is saying it’s nonsense though.

Relegation scrap? It’s only a few games in surely? We were 3rd in L1 at Christmas a few years ago and bloody Mansfield in midtable L2 took Coughlan off us, so it wouldn’t surprise me, Taylor isn’t exactly loved that’s for sure. But as we’ve both said, I just can’t seem him moving his life again so quickly

Whoever it is, it sounds like it’s pretty much a done deal. Close to announcement would suggest things are being finalised with their current clubs or contract details.

I’d be surprised if we don’t get the announcement tomorrow.

From the way he’s talking, sounds like it’s interviews post applications rather than attracting others?

We have being interviewing candidates for both roles, but we apparently made an approach for Elliot at Gateshead as well (rumour is he turned it down) so sounds like we’re going down both routes of taking applications and headhunting.

Why's Taylor not loved? Has he been a crap manager for you?

I still don’t think we’ll go down.

If we appoint a new head coach and still fail to win any of the next two games, I may change my mind.
If you don't beat us at home i would worry - 2 wins in about 30 away for us .

All I want is for us to not be beleaguered anymore. Is that a lot to ask?

A few years ago when we were on a six-game winning run and 4th in the L2 table, John Sheridan suddenly departed to join Chesterfield who were battling against relegation from the Conference so these things do happen... not that I can see it in this case.

If you get the MW of Milton Keynes (not sure if it was the same at Gateshead) then you'll be staying beleaguered to a certain extent. He cannot handle the big occassions.
This is what people are saying. They surely know how risky it would be though. Regardless of how well they've done their research, paying compensation to a rival club to bring in a manager who hasn't made a good start to the season will attract a hell of a lot of scrutiny and suspicion from the fans and I wouldn't touch MW with bargepole for purely that reason. These things have a way of spiralling if they don't bring results quickly.

When it's good, it's great. Our game v yourselves is proof of what can happen when it works.

When it isn't, it's terrible. We haven't scored in our last 5 away games and have shipped on average 3 goals a game in them. Any important game in the last 6 months we've completely bottled and ended up losing by about 3+ goals too. Stockport, Mansfield, Crawley, AFC... all were disastrous and all can be realistically blamed on him.

You'll see a lot of bemused posts as to why we all want him gone from your standard EFL accounts but honestly if you haven't already paid the compensation, give it a couple more weeks and he'll be available for free.

Or it might be Swindon laughing their asses off at Crawley actually paying them to take Scott Lindsey off their hands.

I have no doubt he'll likely do well somewhere and end up as a top 2 tier manager eventually. All I can go off is what I've seen. He's better than Alexander was for us, but I'm eager to see fresh ideas and given the overhaul behind the scenes, it makes a lot of sense for the new owners/CEO to bring in someone they want rather than inherited.

Well yeah, any appointment could turn out to be an inspired one. It's just the additional focus this would bring on their competence as owners that I'd want to avoid if I were in their position. Things between the Piataks and the fans have been great so far but we know how quickly fans can turn.

I’d rather have Williamson than some of the other names we’ve seen linked. For example Leam Richardson, Pete Wild, Craig Russell

I think Williamson is clearly a very good coach, but when you listen to him speak, right back to when we played against his Gateshead sides, he’s just incredibly uninspiring.

That’s not necessarily an issue in itself, lots of good managers have been a bit dull, but you do wonder when you look at how he’s struggling to wake MK up from being half asleep, their away record and performances in big games.

Matt Taylor of Bristol Rovers? I’ve heard that today as well.

Not sure if they were options we approached or there’s more to it. However would seem strange to leave Bristol to join a club struggling down the bottom.
Our luck has ran out we will also be fighting relegation soon. Fluked points which has us higher than we should be

Coughlan was offered slightly better terms financially and he lived in Sheffield, location was the biggest factor.

Wish he lived in Cornwall to be honest, in retrospect.

At the very best, average. I think the reality is that there’s still a Barton cult in the fan base and whoever took over wouldn’t be accepted.

Rightly or wrongly, our expectations these days are to fight for the play offs in L1 and anyone who’s not doing that whilst delivering attacking football isn’t going down well.

It’s a shame what the modern day fan demands. Its killing football imo

Hope you take Williamson off us, we are shit and the blame all lies with him. Paying us compensation would be hilarious too.

Lies.

You've just got sour grapes because little MK Dons can't keep a hold of their best staff to the likes of us.

Yes you are correct.

Convincing?

Oh and no Scum, we won't enjoy the national league and we won't be fabricating a non existent rivalry with Gateshead like we have with Bradford.

You know what I'm talking about.:fing:
