Fury owned this whole event.

Lost 7 stone, degraded Wlads entire career in a few sentences at the first press conference, dressed up as batman, predicted the pull out, sang wind beneath my sings to Wlad, rapped krept & konan, made the most dominant champion of this era look like a novice and finished it off by singing Aerosmith.

Very surprised that DeGale was awarded such a big points decision. I reckon he won it by a couple of rounds, allowing for a bit of a home town bias, which clearly wasn't in the judges scoring.

Typical performance from him. Can look great with some really classy combinations, but then he maintains that habit of coasting through rounds allowing his opponent to look like he's doing more to win the round.

It's a type of tactic that will give a judge the opportunity to score a fight against him and I hope it doesn't come back to bite him in the future.

I had him winning it by 1 point and at a push 2 as I thought there was maybe an even round in there. 117-111 was one of the cards, it's just an insult to the losing fighter when these judges are acting like this. There's no way anyone watching that could say anything other than it was a very close fight with DeGale marginally shading it. Those Canelo/Cotto ridiculously wide scorecards the other week were an insult to a legend like Cotto.

DeGale has got to do more, he makes you believe there's more in there but you just feel he's always holding it back. Bute has barely fought for 3 years and he took him all the way which is a bit of a worry. DeGale seems to have the scorecards permanently on his mind when he fights, he only lets his hands really go after his opponent has landed a few shots on him first in order to get the scoring back on even par so to speak, reminding the judges that he's in control of the fight.

It's fair to say this fight and the Dirrell one could easily have gone against him as he didn't do enough in either fight to put it beyond all doubt, considering how decisions can go against the Brits abroad. With Ward gone I think it's a weak division now, Callum Smith could soon shoot up those rankings and be in line for a shot.

Have to hand it to you for backing him all the way. I didn't think Fury would get knocked out but I certainly didn't think he'd win it convincingly.

Wlad has to retire now. That was embarrassing. As someone above said, Fury to hold the belt until Joshua is ready (12 - 18 months). There just isn't really anyone out there.

Should be a good one that. Been a fan of Billy Joe since he turned pro, not sure why, but he's got that likeability factor about him, plus he beat Eubanks Jnr so that's always a plus.

I think I may get slated by 1-2 for saying this but I kind of want to be honest as it's a gut feeling.

I think Fury has and will be elevated to heights after this victory that are far beyond his actual ability. Don't get me wrong, he's a very good boxer and you don't get 25-0 by accident. I do however feel he is rather limited and will be eventually found out. I keep thinking back to the Klischko fight and at the time I wasn't sure if I saw a Fury masterclass or a terrible performance by Klitschko which highlighted his advancing years. I'm starting to lean towards the latter. Fury did an excellent job of stopping Wlad from imposing himself. He makes for a very awkward opponent due to his size and reach. I don't want to say that a 'better' heavyweight could stop Fury as obviously Klitschko has been the man for a while but I do feel a top level opponent with a different style would trouble Fury significantly. A Joshua with another 3-4 fights under his belt will beat Fury I think and could well knock him down. I'd also be curious to see Haye's speed up against Fury although I don't think that fight will ever happen. I'm even thinking to be honest that Wlad may well win the rematch. It's nice to have a different champion and it shakes it up a bit, but yeah, I'm just not convinced by Fury. Something doesn't quite ring true about it for me. I don't see him being a long reigning champion.

Fury would clean Haye up due to his sheer size. It's one thing punching and moving against a 7 footer in Nikolay Valuev, but Haye proved against Wlad that a mobile big guy he can't cope with. I'd even say Fury could spark him out as Enzo nearly did all those years ago.

Joshua is a totally different animal though, however he still hasn't been tested yet so we don't know just how good he is. I fancy him to dispose of White easily enough, then i'd like to see him against guys like Adamek, Pulev & Povetkin before he goes and destroys the loud mouths of Haye & Wilder.

For what it's worth I don't think Fury will have too long a reign either. I believe he'll beat Wlad in a rematch as father time has caught up with him and Fury just made him look silly at times on Saturday, then I think Fury will retire in 2/3 fights time anyway as he's done what he wanted to do and he's seemingly that type of person who'll retire on top and on his own terms.

I always liked watching Fury, but I became fully convinced by him when he completely and utterly pummelled Chisora (in the rematch) and barely got out of first gear. Now we all know Chisora isn't a world class boxer but Vitali Klitschko, although winning a wide points decision was caused a fair few problems by him, as most are. He just couldn't get near Fury and as far as I was concerned Fury could do exactly the same against Klitschko.

A lot of people who perhaps hadn't watched him had him down as a slow, sluggish, slinger before Saturday night. He's actually far more than that and I think many were surprised by the fact he has a sharp quick jab, is light on his feet and durable for 12 rounds. Would love to see him dismiss of Joshua when the time comes.

Eubank - Benn 3?

Does anyone really want to see this? Would it even get sanctioned given their age?

Not for me

Even though I fancied Fury to beat Klitschko, I would take Klitschko to win a rematch. It reminded me a lot of the Froch v Groves first meeting where Froch was too tentative and allowed Groves to dictate. If there is a rematch then you have to imagine that Klitschko will look to let more shots go and Fury has shown that he does hit the canvas.

That said, I still don't think there will be a rematch.

Not for me

He's almost 52 and still looks lethal. I'd back him to decapitate both of the Eubanks on the same night.

Wlad confirmed he will take up the rematch. I can't see much different happening if he does tbh. He's built a career on jab, jab, jab, big right/left. But he can't jab Fury, which means to get in range he's going to have bob and weave Mike Tyson style to get inside Fury's jab and in range for a hook. He's never done that in his career yet though so I can't see him suddenly bobbing and weaving at 39 years old. Fury was that confident Wlad wasn't long enough to hit him, he even had his hands behind his back at some points!

The Joshua v Whyte gloves are off on Sky was awful and cringeworthy, but Hearn will still have some mugs paying for this. It's a decent card for normal Sky that's all, but if Tony Bellew is classed as a PPV fighter then I guess anything goes. Also KO king Paulie Malignaggi has just been added to the Joshua undercard. :ffs:

Sky will be looking to do 4 PPV's per year. Get used to it. Repercussions of the PL deal.

Looking like Khan is going to fight Brook sometime soon, that should be an interesting one.

Just saw that Round 1 KO specialist Danny Jacobs smashed Quillin straight away, out on his feet stoppage.

I think it's a decent deal for 6 title fights & an eliminator - you're paying for the whole show as opposed the main event.
  • Anthony Joshua v Dillian Whyte
  • Chris Eubank Jr. v Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan
  • Tony Bellew v Mateusz Masternak
  • Kevin Mitchell v Ismael Barroso
  • Luke Campbell v Yvan Mendy
  • Paulie Malignaggi v Gianluca Branco
  • Josh Warrington v Jorge Sanchez

Still not PPV worthy though, they're all pretty one-sided fights apart from Mitchell v Barroso.

Pathetic really. The inconsistencies between the governing bodies when it comes to mandatory defences is extremely annoying. Fury is stripped after a week or so yet fighters like Andre Ward held on to his belt despite not fighting for two years.

What heavyweights are ranked 1 and 2 in the IBF? Glazkov and?

I'm not too knowledgeable on boxing but could they have not sanctioned the Fury v Klitschko and told Fury he had to face Glazkov with the winner then facing Klitschko therefore giving him his rematch in effect?

Fury is contractually obliged to give Klitschko an immediate rematch. It sounds like the IBF lobbied for the Fury camp to put up step aside money and were told to fuck off. These sanctioning bodies are fucking themselves over with nonsense such as this and are providing Haymon with the ammunition to press on with his PBC franchise.

IBF is the least corrupt of the organisations but that's not saying much. Fuck the belts anyway, Tyson Fury is the definition of a lineal champion and he's the one everyone must beat.
