What about the German rule of 51/49 ownership to the fans like they have in Germany?
Indeed. Similar to the Bolton situation in some respects, in that Harvey was happy for Bassini to take over to get rid of the mess Ken Anderson had created, conveniently forgetting that Bassini had previously been banned for 8 years...They were going bust mid-season and Shaun Harvey didn't want the negative publicity of that affecting the EFL brand.
Any member of this forum could've taken over that football club at that moment such was Harvey's desperation not to hurt the brand so much. That man has ruined English football in the 21st century in ways no other man could.

The EFL will fudge it again.
They don’t have balls to make big decisions
I dont think they will, this looks like the end for Bury as we know it.The EFL will fudge it again.

Possibly in terms of houses, though we had an educational building near us with a covenant now with houses on it. So I am not fully convinced about covenants. Key issue is what does recreation mean? Shops, sports centre, cinema, restaurants?I saw a report online stating that there's a covenant on the land Gigg lane stands on saying it has to be used for recreation. If he's after the land, surely that would stop him building on it? Then again, it didn't stop the rovers from trying to build a supermarket on their ground.
Good luck Bury, be it as you are or as a 'phoenix' club.
Sad times.![]()
Exclusive: Rory Campbell, who worked previously at West Ham, has made live bid to buy Bury. Proof of funds provided to EFL + now waiting on whether they will grant extension. He's the son of Alastair Campbell + well connected in football. Full story to follow on @TelegraphSport

Italian bidder looks to be Joseph Cala. Involved in disastrous season at Gateshead last year and tried to get involved at Morecambe and Portsmouth during their financial problems #buryfc

Understand @buryfcofficial owner Steve Dale has accepted a takeover offer from a London-based group and is in process of notifying the @EFL - as yet unconfirmed.

Some further points on Rory Campbell's Bury offer. Understood to be with Henry Newman who is co-founder of data firm C&N Sporting Risk. It has been worked on for some weeks and forms part of a serious long-term plan for the club

If Bury were taken over tonight, could they get a team together in a week?
Going on @@5liveSport shortly to update on huge news #UTS following confirmation from Dale and prospective owners.

If it’s to that dodgy owner from Gateshead though?
Would it pass the EFLs “fit and proper” test
